The curfew was imposed following reports of post-poll violence received from some areas, according to an official notification.&nbsp;

In a bid to stop the spread of post-counting violence, a curfew was declared in Meghalaya's West Jaintia Hills on Thursday by the district administration till further orders.

"Information has been received of post-counting violence in Sahsniang village and there is an apprehension that the violence may spread and intensify if left unattended," the official notification read.
The DM of the area in the notification said Section 144 in the area will remain to stop the violence immediately and restore the peace.&nbsp;

The Calcutta High Court has ordered the police in West Bengal to register the cases of all victims of <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/cm-mamata-banerjee-calls-post-poll-violence-claims-in-bengal-bjp-s-gimmick-1623940120927" target="_blank">post-poll violence</a> amid allegations that complaints were not being filed by the authorities concerned.
Bengal&rsquo;s TMC government was strongly condemned by the Court on Friday over the violence that erupted in May after the elections, saying the administration was in &ldquo;denial mode&rdquo;. It also said that&nbsp;there is enough evidence to establish the post-poll violence, and added the state has been caught &ldquo;on the wrong foot&rdquo;.
The <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/bengal-governor-pm-modi-called-expressed-concerns-over-post-poll-violence-1620123406294" target="_blank">Mamata&nbsp;Banerjee&nbsp;led state government</a> has been asked to ensure medical treatment and ration are provided to all the victims, even if they don&rsquo;t have ration cards.
Further, a second autopsy of BJP leader Abhijit Sarkar who was allegedly killed in post-poll violence has also been ordered by the court.
The five-judge bench issued show cause notices to the district magistrate and superintendent of police of Jadavpur.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a PIL seeking direction to the Centre to impose President&rsquo;s Rule in West Bengal. The plea also seeks direction to the Centre to deploy armed/paramilitary forces to help administrative authorities to maintain normalcy and check the law and order situation post assembly poll violence in the state.
A request for a Special Investigation Team has also been made to probe into the causes and reasons behind the violence. The Court has issued notice to the Centre, West Bengal government and the Election Commission. The Court however denied issuing a notice to Mamata Banerjee&nbsp;as a respondent in the case.
The plea states that there has been targeted communal violence against Hindus after the polls and thousands of residents of West Bengal are being terrorized, penalised and tortured by the workers of TMC for supporting BJP in the elections.
The Supreme Court is already hearing pleas in regard to the post-poll violence in West Bengal and has also ordered a committee to do an independent inquiry.
