Lok Sabha polls 2024: Residents of Nehuta village are boycotting polls over developmental issues. The villagers complained that even the polling booth is quite far.

Voting for phase one of the Lok Sabha polls 2024 is underway. However, the polling booth at Nehuta village wore a deserted look as residents of the village in Aurangabad, Bihar boycotted the elections over developmental issues.&nbsp;
According to reports, at this booth, only 3 voters cast their votes in the morning. There are a total of 944 registered voters, out of which 524 are male and 420 are female.&nbsp;
Citizens told reporters that no one works for the development of the village, adding that there were no basic amenities there.&nbsp;
"Even the polling booth is quite far and there is no mode of transport to reach there. Villagers don't have their own vehicles, with such conditions how can one reach the polling booth," the villagers asked.&nbsp;

After the news reports of Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor exploring the possibility of running for the post of Congress president surfaced, the Thiruvananthapuram MP has reacted to the news, finally. 
Tharoor, on Monday had penned an article in Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi. The content of the article had sparked speculations around the Congress leader running for party presidency post. 
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the congress leader said “I've absolutely no comment to make. I accept what I've written in my article which is that an election would be a good thing for the Congress party,”reported The Hindustan Times. 
Furthermore, Shashi Tharoor has shared his thoughts on how the party should have announced polls to fill up dozens of vacant posts in CWC. 
As reported by HT, Tharoor in the Malayalam daily has said "Allowing members of the party drawn from the AICC and PCC delegates to determine who will lead the party from these key positions, would have helped legitimize the incoming set of leaders and give them a credible mandate to lead the party”. 
Notably, the grand old party is struggling with several leaders quitting the party citing various issues.  
The grand old party is set to hold president elections on October 17. The post has been with the Gandhis for over two decades now.
