In a searing attack on the Congress, Modi said if the party and its "rotten ecosystem" think their "malicious lies" can hide their misdeeds of several years, especially their insults towards Ambedkar.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday stoutly defended Amit Shah from the Congress' charge that he insulted B R Ambedkar in his speech in the Rajya Sabha, asserting that the Home Minister in fact exposed the party's "dark history of insulting" the architect of the Constitution, leaving the main opposition "stung and stunned".
"They are clearly stung and stunned by the facts he presented, which is why they are now indulging in theatrics. Sadly, for them, people know the truth," Modi said in a series of posts on X.
When it comes to Ambedkar, his government's respect and reverence are absolute, the prime minister asserted.
In a searing attack on the Congress, Modi said if the party and its "rotten ecosystem" think their "malicious lies" can hide their misdeeds of several years, especially their insults towards Ambedkar, they are gravely mistaken.
He said people of India have seen time and again how one party, led by one dynasty, a reference to the Nehru-Gandhi family, has indulged in every possible dirty trick to obliterate Ambedkar's legacy and humiliate the SC/ST communities.
The list of the Congress' sins towards Ambedkar includes getting him defeated in elections not once but twice, first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru campaigning against him and making his loss a prestige issue, denying him a Bharat Ratna, and not allowing his portrait a place of pride in Parliament's Central Hall, the prime minister said.
He said, "The Congress can try as they want but they can't deny that the worst massacres against SC/ST Communities have happened under their regimes. For years, they sat in power but did nothing substantive to empower the SC and ST communities."
Modi said it is due to Ambedkar that "we are what we are", as he listed a series of measures taken by his government to implement his vision and accord respect to the iconic personality.
He said his government has worked tirelessly to fulfil Ambedkar's vision over the last decade.
"Take any sector - be it removing 25 crore people from poverty, strengthening the SC/ST Act, our Government&rsquo;s flagship programmes like Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ujjwala Yojana and more, each of them has touched the lives of the poor and marginalised. Our Government has worked to develop Panchteerth, the five iconic places associated with Dr. Ambedkar," he added.
For decades, Modi said, there was a pending issue involving land for "Chaitya Bhoomi", where Ambedkar was cremated. "Not only did our Government resolve the issue, I have gone to pray there as well," he added.
"We have also developed 26, Alipur Road in Delhi, where Dr. Ambedkar spent his last years. The house where he lived in London has also been acquired by the Government. When it comes to Dr. Ambedkar, our respect and reverence is absolute," he said.
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed protests from the Congress and some other opposition parties over Shah's alleged insult of Ambedkar, resulting in both the Houses being adjourned.

These include $47,000 worth of gifts given by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Trump has been accused of not disclosing the gifts by a partisan democratic Congressional committee. The report alleges that Trump, 76, and the First Family failed to report more than 100 foreign gifts with a total value of over a quarter of a million dollars.
In November 2021, the State Department&rsquo;s Office of the Inspector General issued a report on significant problems at the Office of the Chief of Protocol during the Trump administration, including &ldquo;missing items of a significant value.&rdquo; The report determined that a &ldquo;lack of accurate recordkeeping and appropriate physical security controls contributed to the loss of the gifts.&rdquo;
According to the report, the documents revealed that the Trump family received 17 unreported gifts from India with a total estimated value of more than USD 47,000. Among these gifts was a USD 8,500 vase by Yogi Adityanath, a USD 4,600 model of the Taj Mahal, a USD 6,600 Indian rug by former president Kovind, USD 1,900 cufflinks by Prime Minister Modi.

The Supreme Court on 27 February 2023 dismissed a petition which wanted the Narendra Modi government to set up a 'renaming commission'.
The public interest litigation (PIL) wanted such a commission to restore the "original" names of ancient, cultural, and religious places which were "renamed" by "invaders" in the past. While Mughal Garden was recently renamed Amrit Udyan, the government did nothing to rename the roads named after invaders, the PIL said and contended that the continuation of these names is against the sovereignty and other civil rights guaranteed under the Constitution.
The top court said that the petition would resurrect issues which would "keep the country on the boil". A two-judge bench added that it was a fact that India was invaded and ruled by a foreign power and that part of history cannot be "wished out".
The top court told the petitioner, "Our country is secular and Hinduism is a way of life, which has assimilated everyone and there is no bigotry in it". It also said the history of the country should not haunt its present and future generations.

PM Modi will help Pakistan, bail it out amid economic crisis: India's ex-spymaster AS Dulat's 'hunch'

He added that India needs to keep its neighbours "engaged", and that "every time is the best time to talk to Pakistan".

With Pakistan reeling under a severe economic crisis, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may offer help to the neighbouring state by the end of the year, according to a former chief of India's spy agency Research &amp; Analysis Wing (R&amp;AW).
AS Dulat said that he has a "hunch" that Modi would "bail out" Pakistan, and it is not based on "inside information". He added that India needs to keep its neighbours "engaged", and that "every time is the best time to talk to Pakistan".
Dwindling forex reserves, nationwide power outages, political instability and a plummeting Pakistani rupee have already propelled the neighbouring state to seek a bailout package from the IMF.
Many analysts believe that Pakistan&rsquo;s method of dealing with a similar crisis in the past where it has &ldquo;leveraged its geo-political position and extracted rent from global partners&rdquo; is not working and hence it may be more open to talk peace and trade with India.
Dulat, however, pointedly said engagement with Pakistan has always been &ldquo;influenced by domestic politics&rdquo;.
Dulat also highlighted the emergence of a "strong axis" and "formidable force" comprising of China, Russia, and Iran. He said that while India's relations with the United States of America have improved, the US is "far away", while "our neighbours are nearer".
