Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty - Badminton
Satwik and Chirag haven't competed since the Singapore Open, where they lost in the first round. This has also affected their ranking as they dropped to world no. 3 from the top spot. In the previous Olympics, the pair came close to securing a spot in the quarterfinals, having won two out of their three group-stage matches. However, they fell short of advancing further in the competition. They have won many major tournaments recently and will be among the top-seeded men's doubles pair during the Paris Olympics.
Vinesh Phogat - Wrestling
In 2018, Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian women's wrestler to win the gold medal during the Asian Games. She also won gold medal during Commonwealth Games 2014, 2018 and 2022. Just ahead of the Paris Olympics, Vinesh Phogat won the Grand Prix of Spain and she will be heading to the Olympics with a big tournament victory under her name. India will hope that Vinesh maintains her golden run and wins her first medal during the premier sporting event.
Neeraj Chopra - Javelin Throw
Neeraj Chopra, an outstanding javelin athlete, will aim to create a historic achievement as the first Indian athlete to win consecutive gold medals.
Chopra's most recent competition was at the Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland, on 18 June. He seized the gold medal with a top throw of 85.97m. The Paris Diamond League happening this week is not included in his schedule, so he will only compete next at the Olympics and will be eyeing for another Gold.

The final squad selected by head coach Craig Fulton will soon depart for Paris. Harmanpreet Singh will captain the team as anticipated, while PR Sreejesh will be the sole goalkeeper in the squad. Nikhat Zareen - Boxing
Nikhat, who has already won two world championships, will strive for even more success in Paris as she competes in her first Olympics. Currently, Nikhat is training along with five other boxers for a month at the Olympic Centre in Saarbrucken, Germany. She plans to stay until July 22 and then travel to Paris.
Mirabai Chanu - Weightlifting
Mirabai Chanu will aim to secure another spot on the Olympic podium in Paris, following her outstanding performance in Tokyo which resulted in a silver medal. She is expected to be a top contender in her category in Paris.
Sift Kaur Samra - Shooting
Sift Kaur Samra, the gold medallist at the Asian Games, earned a spot on the Paris team for the women's 50m rifle 3 positions event due to her exceptional performance in the four-stage Olympic selection trials. She competed at the Munich World Cup last month and claimed the bronze medal, narrowly losing out on silver to Han Jiayu of China by just 0.1 point. She will be India's top medal hope from the Shooting contingent for the Paris Olympics.

India will put to the test its best strategies and combinations during the European leg of the FIH Pro League as it would be the last opportunity to shortlist the final squad for the Paris Olympics, said men's hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh on Tuesday.
The team left for Antwerp, Belgium on Tuesday for the challenging league, where the winner of this season will be determined. India, currently third in the points table, behind the Netherlands and Australia, will play Belgium and Argentina in Antwerp between May 22 and 26. It will be followed by matches against Germany and Great Britain from June 1-9 in London.
"We are trying out the best combinations before the final squad is selected for the Olympics. Hence, the Pro League outing is crucial in our preparations for Paris as well as for players to make it to the 16-member squad for Paris," said drag-flicker Harmanpreet in a Hockey India release before the team left for Europe.
Last month, India, the Tokyo Olympics bronze medallists, lost all their five matches in Australia, raising doubts about their preparations for the Paris Games.
Harmanpreet said the team will focus on eliminating any chinks in its armour ahead of Paris.
"The team is quite excited to get back on the road again for yet another challenging outing where we will take on the world's best teams in the Pro League. We will be travelling on the back of a very intense training camp over the past few weeks where we focused on our conditioning and played intra-squad matches regularly.
"The team is shaping well and the Pro League is an important event for us to iron out the flaws in our execution ahead of the Olympics," said Harmanpreet.
The skipper said the Pro League would not just help him assess his team's preparations but also provide cues into the rivals' strategies.
"We have Belgium and Argentina in our pool at the Olympics along with Australia, Ireland and New Zealand. We play Belgium and Argentina both in Antwerp.
Harmanpreet hoped that after finishing third in the last few seasons of the Pro League, his team would stake claim to the title this time around.
"In the past few seasons of the Pro League, we have finished in third position. It will be great to finish on top this time and we are quite optimistic about it,"

Nisha Dahiya became the fifth Indian woman wrestler to qualify for the Paris Olympics after prevailing over Romania's Alexandra Anghel in the 68kg semifinals at the World Olympic Qualifiers in Istanbul on Friday.
This will be the first time India will have five women wrestlers at the quadrennial extravaganza.
Dahiya's qualification was a day after all six Greco-roman wrestlers came up with forgettable performances.
Nisha, a World U-23 bronze medallist and Asian Championships silver-medal winner last year beat Anghel 8-4 by points to enter the final and secure another Olympic quota for India.
Against Anghel, Nisha zoomed to a 8-0 lead with a flurry of attacks in the first period. She began with a right leg attack and converted that into a takedown. She quickly followed that up with a two-pointer and rolled her rival for a comfortable 6-0 cushion.
Before the end of first period, she had taken what became an unassailable 8-0 lead.
The second period was all about defence after a double leg attack did not turn into points. The Romanian, who is a silver medal winner at the European championship, woke up from her slumber to launch attacks and had Nisha in trouble.
First she managed a takedown and then found another scoring move. With time running out, Anghel went for a kill, turning Nisha on the mat while aiming for a 'fall' but the Indian freed herself from the grip to thwart the danger.
Nisha did well to defend her lead in the remaining 55 seconds of the bout.
Nisha had earlier defeated Belarusian teenager Alina Shauchuk, competing as an independent athlete, on points 3-0 to secure a place in the quarterfinal.
Nisha, 25, then overcame the challenge of ninth-ranked wrestler from the Czech Republic Adela Hanzlickova, a multiple European Championships medallist, on points 7-4 to book a place in the semifinal against Anghel, ranked 58th in the world.
In a bout lasting the full distance, Nisha, who trains in Rohtak at the famous Sir Chhotu Ram stadium where Sakshi Malik also trained, took a quick 3-1 lead in the first round of three minutes and despite a fight-back by Adela, managed to win with ease.
However, Mansi (62kg) came up against a far superior opponent in eighth-ranked Belarusian opponent Veranika Ivanova, who achieved a victory by fall in the pre-quarterfinal round with 25 seconds remaining on the timer.
Mansi can still secure a place in the bronze-medal round through the repechage route and hope to win an Olympic quota but for that Veranika will have to enter the final.
Four Indian women wrestlers have already secured Paris berths. While Antim Panghal obtained an Olympic quota in 53kg category with a bronze-medal finish at the World Championships last year, Vinesh Phogat (50kg), Anshu Malik (57kg) and Reetika Hooda (76kg) clinched the spots for the country at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in March.
India's Greco-Roman grapplers had failed to impress on the opening day of the Qualifiers here on Thursday, bowing out in the preliminary rounds in all six weight categories.
Sumit (60kg), Ashu (67kg), Vikas (77kg), Sunil Kumar (87kg), Nitesh (97kg) and Naveen (130kg) had all lost their bouts.

The Indian men's and women's 4x400m relay teams qualified for Paris Olympics after finishing second in their respective second-round heat at the World Athletics Relays here on Monday.
In the women's competition, the quartet of Rupal Chaudhary, M R Poovamma, Jyothika Sri Dandi and Subha Venkatesan clocked 3 minutes and 29.35 seconds to finish second behind Jamaica (3:28.54) in heat number one to book a Paris Games ticket.
Later, the men's squad of Muhammed Anas Yahiya, Muhammed Ajmal, Arokia Rajiv and Amoj Jacob finished with a collective timing of 3 minutes and 3.23 seconds to also finish second in their heat, behind USA (2:59.95).
The top two teams in each of the three heats in the second round were to qualify for the Olympics to be held from July 26 to August 11.
It was a sort of a surprise that the women's 4x400m team qualified for the Olympics as the focus was more on the men's 4x400m team which has broken Asian records in back-to-back global events -- Tokyo Olympics and 2023 World Championships -- as well as winning 2023 Asian Games gold.
The Indian women's team had finished fifth in the first-round qualifying heat on Sunday with a time of 3 minutes and 29.74 seconds.

The men's team had failed to finish in the first-round qualifying heat after second-leg runner Rajesh Ramesh pulled out midway due to cramps. Arokia Rajiv took the place of Ramesh in the team and he ran the third leg after Anas and Ajmal.
The Indian men's 4x400m team was in third position when anchor-leg runner Jacob took the baton from Arokia but the Delhi boy ran a fantastic race to overtake his Mexican opponent and finish second.
It was not about the timing but more about the Olympics qualification for the Indian men's team which ran 3:00.25 at the Tokyo Olympics for the then Asian record before bettering it during the 2023 World Championships with yet another Asian record of 2:59.05. Monday's timing was well below the team's best.
India had even given a mighty scare to the formidable USA during the heat race at the 2023 Budapest World Championships before settling for second place.
Meanwhile, India pulled out of the mixed 4x400m relay second round heat races on Monday as Ramesh was not available after suffering muscle cramps while running the men's 4x400m first-round heat on Sunday.

India had featured in a mixed 4x400m relay in the Tokyo Olympics where the event made its debut.
The Indian women's 4x400m relay team will be returning to the Olympics after missing out on the Tokyo Games. The Paris participation will be the eighth time for the Indian women's 4x400m team, the first being in the 1984 Games.
For the men's 4x400m, this will be the fourth time India will be taking part in the Olympics, the first being in the 2000 Sydney Games.
With this, India now has at least 19 Paris-bound track and field athletes and the list includes defending javelin throw champion Neeraj Chopra among others.
The athletics events at the Games will begin on August 1.
A total of 70 teams have qualified for relay events at the Paris Olympics following two days of thrilling action at the World Athletics Relays Bahamas.
Fourteen teams in each of the five disciplines being contested in Nassau -- the women&rsquo;s and men&rsquo;s 4x100m and 4x400m plus the mixed 4x400m and automatically qualified for Paris places.
The first 40 qualified teams eight each in five relay events -- were confirmed on Sunday and the final 30 on Monday, following a second Olympic qualifying round for teams that missed out on day one.

Special anti-terrorism measures being put in place to safeguard the unprecedented opening ceremony for the Paris Olympics on the River Seine will also apply to all buildings along the route, meaning people who work and live there and their guests will be subjected to background security checks, Paris police chief Laurent Nunez said on Thursday.
Those affected will be cross-checked against security services' databases, to see whether they have previously been flagged as suspected Islamist extremists or for other radicalism, Nunez said.
The wildly ambitious July 26 ceremony is proving to be a gargantuan security challenge. Athletes will be paraded through the heart of the French capital on 94 boats along a six-kilometre (nearly four-mile) stretch of the Seine, from east to west. They will be accompanied by 87 other boats for security, media and other people.
All of the parade route will be inside a high-security zone that Nunez described as an "anti-terrorism perimeter". He said it will include the first row of buildings along the route.
"We wanted to include in the perimeter all of the buildings that have a view on the parade," Nunez said.
The zone will be put in place from July 18 and be extended even further along both banks of the river on July 26, in the final hours before the evening ceremony.
Anyone who wants to enter the zone in the eight days before the ceremony and on July 26 itself will need to pre-register online and will "systematically" be subjected to the background security checks known in France as an "administrative investigation", Nunez said.
Those affected will include people who work and live inside the perimeter, as well as their guests, and people going to hotels or restaurants inside the zone, he said.
Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said about 20,000 people live and work inside the perimeter. In the days before the ceremony, there will be places to cross the river and ways to visit the Louvre and other museums along the river without having to enter the security zone.
Nunez said the security check for those affected will not include searching through their communications. "It is not as intrusive as that," he said.
"We verify if the person is known in a certain number of intelligence files," he said.
Anyone flagged by the checks could be barred from the zone. "It will obviously be case by case," Nunez said.
Ticket-holders for the ceremony will not need to pre-register on the online platform that will open on May 10. But Nunez said French intelligence services can do checks on them, too.
Separately, the top administrative official for the Paris region, Prefect Marc Guillaume, pledged that tests on the water quality in the Seine will be made public, without specifying when or how regularly.
Marathon swimmers and Olympic and Paralympic triathletes are scheduled to race in the river, which is being cleaned up for the Games. From July 1, samples will be collected from 36 spots on the river and its tributary, the Marne, Guillaume said.
"We will be totally transparent about our results," he said.

Sharath Kamal symbolises "the unity and spirit of our contingent as they compete on the Olympic stage", the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) said in a statement while making the announcement.
The IOA has not yet named a female flag bearer but sources said that the sports body will not "compromise" on gender equality and will select a woman athlete later since many quotas for the Games, starting July 26, are yet to be filled.
"There is no change in policy. We will wait for official confirmation of qualifications for women athletes before announcing the name. There won't be any compromise on that," said the IOA source.
The IOC, in 2020, had changed its protocol to allow one female and and one male athlete of each NOC to bear the flag jointly during the opening ceremony of the Summer Games.

Meanwhile, Sharath Kamal expressed his elation at getting selected for the honour.
"It has been an unbelievable three weeks. From not even sure of Olympic berth to playing the way I did in Singapore last week, jumping 54 spots in the rankings to being named India's flag bearer," Kamal told PTI.
"It is the biggest honour and fairytale stuff considering it is going to be my fifth and last Olympics. Also, not many TT players have got that honour, globally. I just got a call from IOA and I could not believe it." Kamal was India's flag bearer at the closing ceremony of 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where he won three gold medals.
Recently, the Indian men's and women's team had qualified for the team events of Olympics for the first time by the virtue of their rankings.
Six-time World Champion Mary Kom, bronze medallist at the 2012 London Olympics, will be assisted by luger Shiva Keshavan, who has been appointed the deputy chef de mission.
"Mary Kom's unparalleled dedication to sports and inspiring journey makes her a natural choice to guide and mentor our athletes at the Olympics," IOA said.
"Keshavan, a former Olympian in luge, brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to support the team's management and coordination efforts." Olympic bronze medallist in rifle shooting Gagan Narang will oversee India's operations at the shooting range, which is very far from the main venues.
India will be sending its largest-ever shooting contingent to Paris with 19 quotas already in pocket.
"His (Narang's) meticulous approach and understanding of athletes' needs will ensure a conducive environment for our shooters," the statement added.
"These appointments represent a blend of experience, expertise, and leadership that will contribute significantly to the success of our athletes on the global stage, the statement added.
Commenting on the appointments, IOA president PT Usha, said, "We are delighted to have such a distinguished and capable team of officials leading our contingent for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Their expertise, dedication and passion for sports will undoubtedly inspire our athletes to achieve their best and make the nation proud."

"The highest-ranked teams not yet qualified in the latest World Team Ranking booked their ticket to Paris 2024," ITTF said.
In the women&rsquo;s event, India, ranked 13, Poland (12), Sweden (15), and Thailand have secured their passage to Paris.
While Croatia (12), India (15), and Slovenia (11) have secured their spots in the men's team event.

A hexagonal, polished piece of iron taken from the iconic landmark is being embedded in each gold, silver and bronze medal that will be hung around athletes' necks at the July 26-August 11 Paris Games and Paralympics that follow.
The decision came from a desire to make these objects unique and singular, as Tony Estanguet, President of the Paris 2024 Organising Committee, explains.
They were cut from girders and other bits that were swapped out of the Eiffel Tower during renovations and stored for safekeeping, according to Joachim Roncin, head of design at the Paris Games organizing committee.
"The concept came after a few discussions. We realized that there's one symbol known across the world, which is the Eiffel Tower," Roncin said.
"We said to ourselves, Hey, what if we approached the Eiffel Tower Operating Co. to see if it's possible to get a bit of the Eiffel Tower to integrate into the medal?'" The company agreed, and "the dream became reality," he said.
"It's really a bit of metal from the Eiffel Tower." They were stripped of paint, polished and varnished for their second life.
They are stamped with "Paris 2024" and the Games logo &mdash; which looks like a flame or the face of a woman with a chic bob haircut. The five Olympic rings are also stamped on the iron of the Olympic medals. The Paralympic logo of three swooshes, known as the Agitos, is stamped on the medals for the August 28-September 8 Paralympics.

Akshdeep Singh clinched the men's 20km event gold with a stunning national record time. The 22-year-old from Punjab clocked 1 hour 19 minutes and 55 seconds to break the earlier national record of 1:20:16. The qualification cutoff for Worlds &amp; Olympics qualification was 1:20:10.
In the women's event where the cutoff was 1:29:20, national record holder Priyanka Goswami, who won the silver at 2022 Commonwealth Games, won Gold with a time of 1:28:50.
