Samsung might switch to microLED on upcoming Galaxy Watches

According to a new report out of South Korea, Samsung is developing MicroLED technology for smartwatches. This change in display technology will replace the current OLED displays in Galaxy Watches.&nbsp;
The new technology offers improved brightness, contrast, and colour reproduction, as well as better visibility in direct sunlight. MicroLEDs are also more power-efficient, potentially extending battery life.&nbsp;
Samsung has reportedly created a new team to work on this project with the goal of commercialising it in the near future. This may allow Samsung to retain Apple as a customer, as there have been reports that Apple plans to use MicroLED technology for its smartwatches.

The series features 4K HDR OLED screens with a 120Hz high refresh rate and get Sony's XR OLED Contrast and XR Triluminos Pro technology for an enhanced viewing experience. The series also supports 3D surround sound upscaling and Dolby Atmos as well. It's powered by the Cognitive Processor XR chipset, and runs on Android TV with 16GB on board storage. While Sony has said 55-inch and 77-inch models will be introduced soon, the 65-inch model of the Bravia XR A80J OLED is available to purchase currently for ₹2,99,990.

A report from South Korea's ETNews has claimed that Apple will use OLED displays on iPad models in the future. While Apple's latest 12.9-inch iPad Pro uses a mini-LED display, the rest of the line-up employs IPS LCD panels, with OLED screens reserved for iPhone devices. Other recent reports have also indicated that forthcoming iPad Pro models could use mini-LED displays, with OLED screens being brought to the regular iPad models.

Alongside these, a new QNED TV range of Mini LED TVs has also been unveiled, that also includes NanoCell TVs and a new 4K OLED monitor, targeted at creative professionals. The tech giant has also shown off its OLED evo technology that promises better luminosity and superior picture quality. All of these televisions are set to run on the webOS 6.0 smart TV platform, along with the new Alpha 9 Gen 4 picture processor on some models.

Reports say display supplier BOE will soon start manufacturing OLED panels for Apple's iPhone 12 series.

Reports say display supplier BOE, formerly known as Beijing Oriental Electronics, will soon start manufacturing OLED panels for Apple's iPhone 12 series. While rumours said BOE was being chosen as the third supplier alongside Samsung and LG, reports said quality control issues initially left BOE out of the picture. However, according to industry analysts, the firm has received certification, and will be making OLED displays for all models in the iPhone 12 range of smartphones.
