Police have slapped charges under the stringent UAPA against the accused in three cases connected to the murder of two home guards and a Bajrang Dal member and an attack on a cyber police station six months ago.
While the charges were not included in the initial FIRs related to the cases, court documents showed these were added to the challan presented in a court to oppose the bail petition filed by the accused.
Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, died in the clashes that erupted in Nuh after a procession of the VHP was attacked by mobs on July 31 last year and spread to adjoining areas, including Gurugram.
The imposition of UAPA in three FIRs came to light three days ago when lawyer Tahir Hussain Rupariya, representing some of the accused, filed their bail petitions before the court.
Rupariya said after the bail application was filed, information was received from the court that charges under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) had been imposed on two of the accused named in three FIRs due to which they did not get bail.
Initially, the FIR in the Nuh violence incident was registered on August 1 based on a complaint filed by a police inspector, who stated that the attack and stone-throwing by the mob had resulted in the death of home guards Neeraj and Gursev.
The accused were then booked under charges of rioting, unlawful assembly, assault or criminal force to deter a public servant, murder and criminal conspiracy among others.
One more FIR was registered at the Nuh Sadar police station on August 1 by a native of Panipat, who accused 10 men of targeting his 22-year-old cousin Abhishek and shooting him dead.
Another FIR pertains to an attack on the cyber police station, whose in-charge alleged that he and eight other police officials were present when a large and agitated mob surrounded the police station and began throwing stones.

Mobile internet and bulk SMS services have been suspended in Haryana's Nuh district for two days hours after Congress MLA Mamman Khan was arrested in connection with the violence that broke out in the district on July 15.
The government order says that the step has been taken to prevent "the spread of misinformation and rumours" but it does not mention anything about Mamman Khan's arrest.&nbsp;
"This order is issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Nuh in the state of Haryana and shall be in force with effect from September 15 (10:00hrs) to September 16 (23:59hrs)," says the order issued by Home Department Additional Chief Secretary T V S N Prasad.
Prasad said the decision was taken after the Nuh deputy commissioner wrote to him on Thursday expressing apprehension there could be tension, agitation, damage of public and private property, and disturbance of peace and tranquillity in the district.
The additional chief secretary agreed there is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to assets and amenities and disturbance of law and order in Nuh on account of misuse of Internet services.
He said inflammatory material and false rumours are being or could be circulated to the public through social media and messaging services through the Internet, SMS and dongle services.
"In order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Twitter, etc. on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities, the mobile internet has been suspended," he said.
"...I do hereby order the suspension of the mobile internet services(2G/3G/4G/5G/CDMA/GPRS), bulk SMS (excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks except the voice calls in the jurisdiction of district Nuh of Haryana State," Prasad's order reads.
He emphasised the order was being issued after taking utmost care of public convenience by exempting individual SMS, mobile recharge, banking SMS, voice calls, internet services provided by broadband and lease lines of corporate and domestic households.
This ensures the commercial and financial interest of the state and the basic domestic needs of individuals are not affected, the order said.
Section 144 has also been imposed in the district. Gathering of four or more people is prohibited under this law.&nbsp;

"We had brought the soil of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi and the Jal of Saryu river to pay homage to the Bajrang Dal workers who were killed and were to return after performing Jalabhishek with the Jal of Saryu river, there was a convoy of vehicles and people with me, Upon learning that section 144 has been imposed, so I cut short the convoy to two-three people. Still, the administration stopped us and is not allowing us to return also," Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya said.
He said that he would sit on a hunger strike until he received permission to pay homage and perform Jalabhishek.&nbsp;

A Sudarshan News editor has been arrested by police here over his alleged inflammatory posts on social media related to the communal violence in Nuh and adjoining districts in Haryana, an official said.
The TV channel termed the arrest of Mukesh Kumar, its resident editor, an attack on media freedom and had initially alleged he was "abducted" by some goons.
Police said he was arrested by the Cyber Crime, East Police Station.
Six people have been killed in the communal violence which erupted in Nuh on July 31 after a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession was attacked.
Police said that in a post on X, called Twitter till recently, Kumar alleged a foreign media house has been making calls to the Gurugram Police Commissioner and pressuring her to take action against Hindus over the communal riots.
In a statement on Friday, the Gurugram Police termed Kumar's post baseless, false and misleading. They said an FIR was registered under the relevant section of the IT Act and other sections against the journalist at the Cyber Crime, East Police Station.
In his post on August 8, Kumar wrote, "The @AJENews (Al Jazeera News Channel) has been making calls to the Gurgaon Police Commissioner and pressuring her to take action against Hindus. And after receiving the call, @DC_Gurugram comes under so much pressure she picks up Hindu activists from anywhere." In adjoining Gurugram district, Jamiat Ulama president Mufti Saleem Qasmi also appealed to people to not offer the Friday namaz at any open place and asked them to pray in mosques or at their homes.
In an order issued on Thursday, Nuh District Magistrate Dhirender Khadgata said, &ldquo;In view of the normal situation in the area, it has been decided to open all educational institutions from August 11. Similarly, bus services of Haryana State Transport are also being fully restored from August 11." "Curfew will be relaxed on Friday. ATMs in the municipal corporation area of Nuh, Tawdu, Punhana, Ferozepur Jhirka and Pingawa and Nagina blocks will remain open during the relaxation period," it stated.

The Haryana government on Wednesday said mobile internet and SMS services in Nuh and some other places in the state will remain suspended till August 5 to prevent any disturbance to peace and public order in the wake of the communal clashes.
Besides Nuh, the services will remain snapped in Faridabad, Palwal and the territorial jurisdiction of sub-division Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of Gurugram district.
The government had ordered the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services in Nuh district from 4 pm on Monday and later imposed the restrictions in some other parts too till August 2 in view of the "intense communal tension" and disturbance of public peace.
Violence broke out at several places after stones were pelted during a religious procession and cars set on fire in Nuh on Monday.
The order to extend the suspension of mobile internet and SMS services till August 5 was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) T V S N Prasad Wednesday evening.
"This order is extended to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of districts Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal and territorial jurisdiction of subdivision Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of district Gurugram in the state of Haryana and shall be in force up to 05.08.2023 (23:59 hrs)," according to the order.
"Whereas, it has been brought to my notice by Deputy Commissioners Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal and Gurugram that the law and order situation has been reviewed and intimated that conditions are still critical and tense in their respective districts.
"And whereas, after assessment of the current prevailing law and order situation as well as recommendation of the Deputy Commissioners, I am of this view that there is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in districts Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal and in the territorial jurisdiction of Sub Division Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of district Gurugram on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours, which are being or could be transmitted/circulated to the public through social media/messaging services on mobile internet services, SMS services and other dongle services," it said.
Therefore, the mobile internet suspension is being extended in order to stop the spread of misinformation and rumours through various social media platforms, such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter etc on mobile phones and SMS, for facilitation and mobilisation of mobs of agitators and demonstrators who can cause serious loss of life and damage to public and private properties by indulging in arson or vandalism and other types of violent activities, the order said.
The suspension of the mobile internet services (2G/3G/4G/5G/CDMA/GPRS), all SMS services (only bulk SMS and excluding banking and mobile recharge) and all dongle services etc provided on mobile networks except the voice calls, has been ordered in the jurisdiction of district Nuh, Faridabad, Palwal and territorial jurisdiction of subdivision Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar of Gurugram district, it said.
Twenty companies of central forces are already deployed in Haryana -- 14 in Nuh, three in Palwal, two in Gurugram and one in Faridabad.

The death toll in the violence that erupted after clashes between two groups during a religious procession in Haryana's Nuh has mounted to 6.
Pradeep Sharma, a worker of the right-wing group Bajrang Dal succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital. He was injured in the communal clashes in Nuh.&nbsp;
Haryana chief minister ML Khattar said that stray incidents of violence reported elsewhere after the Nuh clashes have been brought under control.
The injured have been admitted to various hospitals, including at Nalhar in Nuh and Medanta in Gurugram, the Haryana chief minister said, adding that 116 people have been arrested while a search was on to nab the other accused.
In a statement, Khattar said as per information so far, six people have died out of which two are home guards and four are civilians while several people have been injured.
The conspirators are being identified, he said, while promising strict action against the guilty and asserting that the security of common people "is our responsibility".
Apart from Haryana police personnel, 20 companies of central security forces have been deployed in the state. Three of them have been stationed in Palwal, two in Gurugram, one in Faridabad and 14 in Nuh, Khattar said and appealed to the people to maintain peace.
On Tuesday, Khattar had termed the Nuh violence "unfortunate" and said the attack on a VHP procession was "well-planned which pointed to a larger conspiracy". &nbsp;"The attack was carried out in Nuh in a well-planned manner to disrupt the (Brij Mandal Jalabhishek) yatra. Police were also targeted, pointing at a larger conspiracy," Khattar had said in a tweet in Hindi.
Home Minister Vij had on Tuesday said someone "engineered" the violence in Nuh to disturb peace in Haryana. On Tuesday, authorities imposed a curfew in the district after the previous day's violence.&nbsp;

According to the police, a 26-year-old man was killed in Gurugram in post-midnight clashes as news of the violence in Nuh spread. The police said that one person died in the Gurugram violence, while three others were injured.&nbsp;
A 26-year-old man was killed and a mosque was set ablaze in the Sector 57 area as the violence that erupted over an attempt to stop a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession in neighbouring Nuh district spread to Gurugram, police here said.
The mob opened fire in which two persons were injured. One of them died during treatment, they said.
The victim has been identified as Saad, a native of Bihar, a senior officer said. This is the third death in the wake of the "intense communal tension" that spread from Nuh.
