Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday proposed the old Parliament building to be called 'Samvidhan Sadan' or 'Constitution House'.

In his final address in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed the complex should be called Samvidhan Sadan or 'Constitution House'.
"Now, when we are going to the New Parliament, the dignity of the (old Parliament building) should never be lowered. This should not be left just as the old Parliament building," said Modi. The parliament is being shifted to the new building, which is capable of accommodating more members and is equipped with modern facilities.
During his address, Modi recalled various laws passed in the building such as the Triple Talaq law and the abrogation of Article 370.&nbsp;

He said India has become the fifth largest economy in the world and is on the path to become the third.

Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury held a copy of the Constitution of India in his hands while leading MPs of his party into the new Parliament building.
Minutes before that, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP MPs, including Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and saffron party's chief JP Nadda, into the new building.
The remainder of the special session of the Parliament will be held in the new building.

The first sitting of the Lok Sabha in the new Parliament saw chaos and confusion over new technology. The opposition created a ruckus when union minister Arjun Ram Meghwal stood up to table the women's reservation bill. The opposition leaders said that they did not have a copy of the bill. The Speaker informed them that the bill has been uploaded on the tablets on each MP's bench as the Parliament is now paperless.&nbsp;

Initiating the first day of the proceedings, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla urged on members to set a new standard of parliamentary debate by raising people's issues, as he extended greetings of Ganesh Chaturthi, and called the move to the new parliament house a historic event.
Birla also paid his tributes to leaders who built the nation and gave India its own constitution.
The new parliament building boasts of a palette of colours and architecture that takes its cue from everything Indian, from ancient to medieval.
The colour used in Rajya Sabha has been inspired by the shade of kokum red, while the look of Lok Sabha is based on Indian agave green with inspirations from the plumes of the Indian peacock.
The new Parliament building, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on May 28, has artwork narrating India's democratic traditions from the Vedic period to the present day.
