In a peculiar incident, a leopard and a cat fell into a well in Maharashtra's Nashik. Forest department officials said that the two may have fallen into the well while the big cat was possibly chasing its smaller and distant cousin.
The incident occurred in Ashapur village on the intervening night of 13 and 14 February. While being stuck in the well, the leopard did not hurt the cat. The wild beast was seen perched precariously on a ledge, while the cat swam around.
Officials said that the cat tried a daring manoeuvre by jumping on the leopard's back to escape, but failed. In the morning, when a farmer noticed the animals inside the well, the forest department was called.
The cat was extricated in a basket, while a cage was lowered into the well to bring the leopard out. The wild feline was taken to the Mohdari Malegaon forest park.

Ten persons were killed and 20 others injured after a speeding bus collided with a truck in Maharashtra's Nashik district on 13 January, police officials said.
The private luxury bus was carrying employees of a company based at Ambernath in Thane district who were heading for the temple town of Shirdi in Ahmednagar district, officials said.
There were a total of 45 passengers in the bus.
The incident took place around 6 am near Pathare Shivar in Nashik's Sinnar tehsil, around 180 km from Mumbai, officials said.
The deceased included seven women, two small boys and a man.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of life and announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh from the PM National Relief Fund to the next-of-kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs 50,000 each, the PMO tweeted.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also announced financial help of Rs 5 lakh each for the kin of the deceased while ordering an inquiry into the cause of the accident.
The death toll may increase as the condition of some of the injured was said to be critical, officials said.&nbsp;

The fire broke out at around 11 AM in a poly films factory in Mundegaon village in Nashik district, according to officials. Many workers are feared to be trapped inside the factory.&nbsp;
Several fire engines are at the spot trying to put out the fire.&nbsp;
"11 workers have been rescued, while several others remain trapped," news organisation NDTV reported quoting a fire department official.&nbsp;

Pandey had also issued orders to religious places in Nashik directing them to take permission for using loudspeakers by May 3 or face legal action.
The directive was in response to an 'ultimatum' given by MNS president Raj Thackeray that repercussions would follow if loudspeakers on mosques were not removed by May 3.
