In his letter to the world hockey's executive board, Batra cited personal reasons for relinquishing his post at FIH.
Batra's position as IOA president ceased after Delhi HC's verdict given he contested the election at IOA on the basis of his 'life member' post in Hockey India. Meanwhile, his membership in the International Olympic body was linked to the IOA presidency. 
However, his resignation from FIH came as a major surprise to many given in May Batra stated that he would not contest upcoming IOA elections and shift his focus to managing world hockey.

As the Indian Olympic body failed to hold elections since December 2021, International Olympic Committee (IOC) has threatened Indian Olympic Association with suspension. 
According to a Times of India report, IOC issued a stern warning on the issue of autonomy and violation of the Olympic charter and asked the IOA to confirm the election dates without any further delay.

The letter further stated that if IOA failed to hold elections in the coming weeks then IOC have to suspend the Indian Olympic body till they operate normally. 
Notably, the International Olympic body's stern warning came four days after Narinder Batra's resignation from the post of president of the IOA and International hockey federation.

With elections in the Indian Olympic Association due since December 2021, the IOC has urged the Indian body to solve its issues internally or face suspension.

The Indian Olympic Association's (IOA) failure to hold elections that have been due since December 2021 has landed them in trouble. The International Olympic Committee has warned India that a suspension is looming on the horizon if they can't solve their institutional issues.
According to a Times of India report, the IOC issued a stern warning on the issue of autonomy and violation of the Olympic charter and asked the IOA to confirm the election dates without any further delay.&nbsp;

The letter further stated that if the Indian Olympic body fails to hold elections in the coming weeks then IOC will have no other choice but to suspend the IOA till their operations normalise.
Notably, the global body's caution came four days after Narinder Batra's resignation from the post of president of the IOA and the International hockey federation.&nbsp;

The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a case against Narinder Batra just hours after he resigned as the president of the Indian Olympic Association and Indian Hockey Federation. CBI claimed that they found 'incriminating documents' during the raids at his IOA & Hockey India offices and residents in Jammu and New Delhi. Apart from Batra, CBI also launched a probe against former Hockey India president Rajinder Singh, and ex-secretary general Mohammad Mushtaque Ahmad after illegalities were found in the renovation and furnishing of the office of the IOA president in 2018. CBI had earlier in April, launched a preliminary investigation against Batra for alleged misappropriation of Hockey India funds of Rs 35 lakhs. CBI stated that in 2018, it was alleged that the IOA president, without prior approval from the Executive Board of Hockey India got some renovations done. Later, to cover up the fraudulent expenditure, the accused fabricated and falsified records.
