Israeli filmmaker and IFFI jury head Nadav Lapid sparked criticism following his comments on &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; at the 53rd International Film Festival of India in Goa. He has now addressed his &lsquo;propaganda&rsquo; remark in an interview with India Today TV.
Nadav called &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; a &lsquo;brilliant movie&rsquo; but maintained that &lsquo;no one can determine what propaganda is&rsquo;. He said that the uproar over his remarks is &lsquo;cheap manipulation&rsquo; in order to incite people.&rsquo;
&lsquo;No one can be determined what propaganda is. I accept this fact, it&rsquo;s a brilliant movie. There is no specific key to differentiate any film based on propaganda. The most terrible things that have happened in history might give birth to propaganda and to manipulated movies. And I want to make one thing extremely clear, not even for one second have I thought or imagined talking about the tragedy of Kashmir. What I have done or said is my duty to say what I see and it is a very subjective way. I have the right to say what I think and I am not anybody's property that I will seek any validation,&rsquo; he said.
He added that other jury members felt the same way, but fear or anxiety, suddenly changed their statements.&nbsp; Nadav also apologised to the people for his sharp comments about the critically acclaimed film.
&lsquo;I am sorry if people were hurt by my comments. I am an Israeli who has also done military service,&rsquo; he said.

Days after Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid called &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; &lsquo;propaganda, vulgar&rsquo; film, director Vivek Agnihotri announced that he will make &lsquo;The Kashmir Files: Unreported&rsquo; to let the people know the 'entire truth'.
In an interview with the news channel AajTak, <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/the-vaccine-war-the-kashmir-files-director-vivek-agnihotri-announces-next-film-unveils-poster-1668078555706">Vivek</a> said that he has many stories, anecdotes, truths from which they could have made 10 films instead of one. But they decided to make only one film. He said he has decided that he will bring out the whole truth in his next film, which will be titled &lsquo;The Kashmir Files: Unreported&rsquo;. The filmmaker added that he is now determined to release the film this year.

Vivek shared a video on Instagram on Tuesday, challenging all urban naxals and the legendary filmmaker who came from Israel, to prove that a single shot, event, or dialogue from his film is untrue. He vowed to quit filmmaking if he&rsquo;s proved wrong.
&lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo;, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the valley in the 1990s, is one of the highest-grossing Bollywood movies of the year. It stars Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Joshi.

IFFI jury head and Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid, who is embroiled in a controversy after his remarks on &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; at the International Film Festival of India, has said that speaking out against the film was &lsquo;not easy&rsquo; and he was apprehensive about it.
In an interview with Israeli outlet Ynet, the filmmaker said that after watching the film he was struck by how blatantly it adheres to the government line on Kashmir. Lapid said that the Vivek Agnihotri directorial &lsquo;justifies the Indian policy in Kashmir, and it has fascist features&rsquo;. He added that he won&rsquo;t be surprised if a film like this is made in Israel in the next couple of years.
When asked what went through his mind before he made this remark, and if he knew his words would spark controversy, he said, &lsquo;I knew that this was an event that is terribly connected to the country, and everyone stands there and praises the government. It is not an easy position, because you are a guest, I am the president of the jury here, you are treated very nicely. And then you come and attack the festival. There was apprehension, and there was discomfort. I didn&rsquo;t know what the dimensions would be, so I did it with some apprehension. Yes, I spent the day apprehensive. Let&rsquo;s put it this way: I&rsquo;m happy to be on my way to the airport now.&rsquo;

In countries that are increasingly losing the ability to speak your mind or speak the truth, someone needs to speak up. When I saw this movie, I couldn&rsquo;t help but imagine its Israeli equivalent, which doesn&rsquo;t exist but could definitely exist. So I felt I had to, because I come from a place that is itself not reformed, and is itself on the way to these places,&rsquo; he told Ynet.
For the unversed, at IFFI&rsquo;s closing ceremony on Monday, Lapid, who was serving as the president of the jury, called &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; &lsquo;vulgar, propaganda&rsquo;.

But one can't deny the fact is that The Kashmir files is a film which has depicted the actual plight of Kashmiri pandit community... who are still fighting for justice against the brutal acts of terrorism. So, this film is not on vulgarity but on reality.&rsquo;
On Monday night, the Israeli filmmaker called the Vivek Agnihotri directorial &lsquo;vulgar propaganda&rsquo; that &lsquo;disturbed and shocked&rsquo; the entire jury. A video from the festival has gone viral online and his statement has received criticism from many people including the Israeli ambassador, actors Anupam Kher, and Ranvir Shorey.
IFFI jury has also distanced itself from Nadav Lapid&rsquo;s criticism of &lsquo;The Kashmir Files&rsquo; and said that it is &lsquo;completely his personal opinion&rsquo;.
