NCP national general secretary Praful Patel tweeted, "With the approval of our National President Hon'ble Shri Sharad Pawar Saheb, all the National level Departments and Cells of NCP excluding Nationalist Women's Congress, Nationalist Youth Congress and Nationalist Students Congress stand dissolved with immediate effect."
Patel, a former Union minister, did not disclose the reason for the sudden move, which comes three weeks after the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra.&nbsp;
The NCP was a key constituent of the Shiv Sena-led coalition government which fell apart in late June following a rebellion by a section of MLAs of the Uddhav Thackeray-led saffron outfit.&nbsp; &nbsp;

In both cases, it was this NCP leader - Sonia Doohan - who was at the centre of the action. In the latest incident, two NCP leaders were arrested from a Goa resort on July 2. It was the Taj Resort in Convention Centre in Goa where the rebel Sena MLAs were staying. NCP's Sonia Doohan, and Shray Kothiyal had tried to check into the hotel, but were arrested after being accused of using fake IDs. The two politicians were granted bail on 3 July.
The rebel MLAs had been tipped-off that a woman at the resort was asking about them, according to news reports quoting sources. The incident was compared to another episode two and a half years ago, when some NCP MLAs sneaked out of a hotel during the short-lived alliance between Ajit Pawar and BJP's Devendra Fadnavis.

In November 2019, Sonia Doohan had claimed to have "rescued" 4 NCP MLAs. This transpired when Ajit Pawar had apparently rebelled against uncle Sharad Pawar and allied with the BJP to form the government after elections threw up a split verdict.
Five NCP legislators had been taken to BJP-ruled Haryana, and housed on the fifth floor of a hotel in Gurugram. Sonia Doohan claimed that she booked rooms on all floors of the hotel, except the fifth floor. NCP claimed that heavy security had been deployed at the hotel to keep the MLAs trapped.
Doohan said that in order to free the MLAs, she mapped a route inside the hotel which would not have CCTV cameras. Subsequently, one NCP MLA was taken out of the back gate which was linked to another hotel. When two more were being taken out, uproar broke out.
Doohan said that she had to leave her own car at the hotel, and take another vehicle to drive the 2 MLAs to Sharad Pawar's house in Delhi. Then, the fourth MLA was "rescued" at 2:30 at night.
So, who is Sonia Doohan, the protagonist in these escapades? She is the national president of the student wing of the Nationalist Congress Party.
She hails from Petwar village in Haryana's Hisar, and her family is engaged in farming. She studied at a village school, before graduating from Kurukshetra University. Doohan also trained to be a pilot in Pune, which is when she got involved in student politics.
After the latest incident, Doohan has claimed that police, Black Cat commandos, and political party workers detained her from the Goa resort at 5:30 am on July 2.
The NCP has come to Sonia Doohan's defence, claiming that their two leaders had gone to Goa as tourists, and not politicians. The party said that Goa's BJP government was keeping an eye on Doohan due to the 2019 episode, and the duo checked into the resort using Shray Kothiyal's ID. Also, Sonia Doohan used Shray's wife's ID, and not a fake document, NCP said.
The incident shows that although the Maharashtra political crisis dominated headlines for days, it was the tip of the iceberg as even more drama was playing out in the background.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday alleged that a third attempt is being made to pull down the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra but expressed confidence that chief minister Udhhav Thackeray will be able to handle the situation.
Pawar, who played a crucial role in the formation of the MVA government, said it will complete its full five-year term and ruled out going with the BJP, in case the state government falls.
He said he would be meeting Thackeray later in the day and would be leaving for Mumbai soon after the opposition meeting on the joint presidential candidate.
"There are no differences in the alliance and all have full confidence in the leadership of Thackeray," he told reporters.
"It is an internal matter of Shiv Sena, they will inform us after assessing the situation," he also said.
He also said that his party will support the Shiv Sena.
The NCP chief said Eknath Shinde, who has turned a rebel along with some MLAs, never told them about his chief ministerial ambitions.

Maharashtra police seized 89 swords on Thursday morning from a Mahindra Scorpio on the Mumbai-Agra highway. The car was allegedly transporting swords from Chittorgarh in Rajasthan when it was intercepted in Dhule. Police arrested 4 men in connection to the swords. It is unclear why the swords were being transported, according to the local police. 
The arrested men reportedly belong to Jalna and were transporting the swords to sell them, as per the police. Authorities also added that an investigation is on and they will check with officials in Rajasthan to ascertain why the swords were being transported, and whether the men had necessary permissions to do so. 
The incident has sparked a row among the Opposition in Maharashtra with questions being raised why a vehicle laden with numerous swords was being transported from a Congress-ruled state.  
BJP leader Ram Kadam asked why swords from a Congress-ruled state were being brought to Mumbai and questioned if they were meant to attack someone or create disturbance in the state. BJP leader Ashish Shelar questioned if the state government, which had registered an FIR against Raj Thackeray for showing a sword in a rally, would register an FIR against the home minister after so many swords were found.
Congress leader Atul Londhe said the police were investigating the case and it will soon be clear why the swords were brought into the state.

Former Chief Minister and BJP leader, Devendra Fadnavis, has accused the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of hatching conspiracies to target its political opponents and misusing the police department. He also submitted a pen drive containing "proof" to Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal.  Devendra Fadnavis have shared the pen drive containing video proofs of 125 hours showing how the MVA government, along with the police officials have plotted a conspiracies against the BJP leaders & Fadnavis, in false cases at the office of special public prosecutor Pravin Chavan. 
BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala shared one of the videos of Special Public Prosecutor Pravin Pandit Chavan on his twitter. He said, "This man’s office has become the hub for framing conspiracies against Opposition leaders." 
Fadnavis said the video footage showed public prosecutor Chavan talking about meetings (held) at the highest level from the chief minister to the state DGP to the police commissioner to frame BJP leader Girish Mahajan under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) and arrest him. 
Devendra said, "Sadly, this is not the first time MVA has misused agencies & institutions for ulterior & illegal motives. Whether it is vasooli using police or breaking rules to do favouritism or using police / authorities to target opposition leaders or illegally suspending 12 BJP MLAs." 
Demanding a CBI probe into the matter, Fadnavis said, "You are crying hoarse about the Central agencies without proof. But I have given you proof. The venue of crime in the Girish Mahajan case is Pune, but after three years, the police registered a case in Muktainagar."  He alleged that NCP leader Eknath Khadse, who was earlier with the BJP, was involved in the entire episode to frame Jalgaon BJP leader Girish Mahajan in a 2018 case related to the Maratha Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, by invoking provisions of the MCOCA and arresting him. 
Fadnavis further accused the MVA government of rampantly misusing the police department. "If political opponents are targeted in such a manner, there will be no democracy," he alleged.
 The BJP leader went on to claim that apart from Mahajan, conspiracies were also hatched to target him and other leaders of the BJP. "Many portions in these videos are such that I can't speak, as it tarnishes the image of the august House," he said.

Senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday welcomed the Supreme Court's judgement, in which it termed the suspension of 12 BJP MLAs from the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly as "unconstitutional" and "irrational".
The Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly said the apex court's decision is "another tight slap" on the face of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress for its "unconstitutional, unethical, unfair, illegal and undemocratic actions".
The Supreme Court on Friday held that a resolution suspending the 12 BJP MLAs beyond the period of the remainder of the session held in July 2021 is "unconstitutional" and "irrational". The top court delivered its verdict on the pleas filed by the 12 legislators, who had challenged their one-year suspension from the state assembly.
They were suspended on July 5 last year from the Assembly after the state government accused them of misbehaving with presiding officer Bhaskar Jadhav in the Speaker's chamber.
Reacting to the apex court's judgement, Fadnavis said in a tweet, "Satyameva Jayate. We welcome and thank the Supreme Court for the historic decision of quashing suspension of our 12 BJP Maharashtra MLAs, who were fighting for the cause of OBCs in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly during the monsoon session." Apart from Ashish Shelar, the BJP's chief whip in the Assembly, others who were suspended were Sanjay Kute, Abhimanyu Pawar, Girish Mahajan, Atul Bhatkhalkar, Parag Alavani, Harish Pimpale, Yogesh Sagar, Jay Kumar Rawal, Narayan Kuche, Ram Satpute and Bunty Bhangdia.
Fadnavis said the SC decision will save the democratic values and it is yet another tight slap on the face of MVA government for it's unconstitutional, unethical, unfair, illegal and undemocratic actions and activities.
"I congratulate our BJP Maharashtra 12 MLAs for getting justice," he added.
"Since the beginning, we were saying that it was completely unconstitutional and gross misuse of power to suspend our MLAs for such a long period to create artificial majority & that too for no valid reason & the Hon SC has upheld our stand," the former chief minister said.
It was not only a question of these 12 MLAs, but of more than 50 lakh citizens in these 12 constituencies, he said.
Speaking about the development, state minister Nawab Malik, who is also the chief spokesperson of the NCP, said, "The speaker of the legislative assembly will take a decision once the Supreme Court's written order is available. The decision to suspend 12 MLAs of BJP was taken by the speaker and not by the government." The secretariat of the Maharashtra Assembly will study the SC decision after which the speaker decide on that, he said.

Reacting to the apex court's judgement, Fadnavis said in a tweet, "Satyameva Jayate. We welcome and thank the Supreme Court for the historic decision of quashing suspension of our 12 BJP Maharashtra MLAs, who were fighting for the cause of OBCs in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly during the monsoon session." Apart from Ashish Shelar, the BJP's chief whip in the Assembly, others who were suspended were Sanjay Kute, Abhimanyu Pawar, Girish Mahajan, Atul Bhatkhalkar, Parag Alavani, Harish Pimpale, Yogesh Sagar, Jay Kumar Rawal, Narayan Kuche, Ram Satpute and Bunty Bhangdia.
Fadnavis said the SC decision will save the democratic values and it is yet another tight slap on the face of MVA government for it's unconstitutional, unethical, unfair, illegal and undemocratic actions and activities.
"I congratulate our BJP Maharashtra 12 MLAs for getting justice," he added.

Shocked by tone of Maha Governor's letter to CM: Pawar to Modi

PTI,&nbsp;Mumbai:&nbsp;NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing shock over the kind of language used by Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari in a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray over reopening places of worship amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his letter to Modi, the Rajya Sabha MP, whose party is a key ally in the Shiv Sena-led MVA government, said he was pained by the erosion of standards of conduct by the high Constitutional office of the Honourable Governor.
In the letter to the chief minister on reopening of temples, Koshyari had asked, "Have you suddenly turned secular, the term you hated?" Pawar said the Prime Minister had given very appropriate slogan of do gaj ki doori to curb the spread of COVID-19 and added the Maharashtra government is also planning a campaign to make people aware of the importance of social distancing.
The former Union minister referred to the huge crowds some temples in the state like that of Lord Vitthal in Pandhapur, Siddhivinayak in Mumbai, Sai Baba in Shirdi and others, witness on normal days.
In such places, it is almost impossible to maintain safe distance between people. Keeping this in view, the Government of Maharashtra had decided to stagger the decision regarding opening up of places of worship, Pawar said.
The NCP patriarch said he agreed the Governor can have independent views and opinion on the sensitive issue and appreciated the latters prerogative to convey his views to the chief minister.
However, I am shocked and surprised to see the letter of the Governor released to the media and the kind of language used in the letter, Pawar said.
The veteran politician said separately on Twitter that the kind of language used in the letter does not behove well for a person who holds a constitutional position.
The NCP president said he is sure the prime minister, too, would have noticed the intemperate language used in the Governors letter.
Pawar said the word secular is part of the Preamble of the Constitution and it shields all religions.
Hence, the Chair of the Chief Minister must uphold such tenets of the Constitution, he said.
Unfortunately, Hon. Governors letter to the Chief Minister invokes the connotation as if written to the leader of a political party.
I firmly believe that in a democracy, free exchange of views between the Hon. Governor and the Hon. Chief Minister must take place.
However, the tone and tenor used must always be in keeping with the stature of the constitutional post occupied by the individuals, Pawar said.
The veteran leader said that looking at the turn of events, the chief minister was left with no option but to release his reply to the Governor in the press.

Sena backs Modi govt on skipping Question Hour in Parliament

PTI,&nbsp;New Delhi: The Shiv Sena on Thursday came out in support of the Centre's move to drop Question Hour from the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament, and said the decision was taken due to an "emergency situation" caused by the pandemic, which everyone needs to understand.
Talking to reporters, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that other platforms to question the government are always available.
According to the notifications issued by the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha secretariats, there will be no Question Hour and private members' bills will not be taken up in the monsoon session, while the Zero Hour will be restricted.
"Even though the monsoon session of Parliament will not have a Question Hour, it is important to understand why it is so," Raut said.
"This is an emergency situation. We need to understand and not criticise," he said, adding that even in Maharashtra the monsoon session of the state assembly will be held for two days only.
Several opposition parties have criticised the move to exclude Question hour during the monsoon session, with some leaders accusing the Modi government of trying to "murder the democracy" in the name of the COVID-19 pandemic and of reducing "Parliament to a notice board".
Replying to a question, Raut said that Army chief M M Naravane rushing off to Ladakh shows that the China-India stand-off was serious.
"Even External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had tweeted the situation was worse than 1962," he said.
The Army chief began his two-day visit to Ladakh on Thursday to carry out a comprehensive review of the security situation in the region in view of China's fresh attempts to change status quo along the southern bank of Pangong lake.
Raut criticised the opposition's demand to reopen places of worship in Maharashtra amid the pandemic and made it clear that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will take appropriate decision at the right time.
"The opposition leaders should not play with peoples' lives. The state government is of the view that this is not the right time to reopen places of worship. The opposition leaders should understand the thought behind the decision and support the government," the Sena MP said.
"Yesterday, the coronavirus numbers in Maharashtra were more than 15,000. The opposition should have patience and think about people's health and well-being first," he added.
"Unlike the Centre, the MVA government doesn't think that COVID-19 is act of God. The state government believes it will have to fight the pandemic on its own," Raut said.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had recently said that the economy has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is an 'act of God'.
Raut lambasted Aurangabad MP Imtiaz Jaleel for public agitations seeking reopening of the places of worship.
"His (Jaleel's) Lok Sabha win was an accident due to a three-cornered fight. Next time, such an accident will not happen," he said.
"Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is not happy about the closure of temples and other places of worship. But for the government, people's health is the priority," Raut added.
When asked about the criticism of the state government effecting transfers amid the pandemic, Raut asked, "Is there a rule that a new government shouldn't effect bureaucratic transfers?" On the criticism that Uddhav Thackeray was operating from home during the pandemic, he said, "Narendra Modi and Thackeray function in a similar manner. Even Modi is working from Delhi. Why should the chief minister break the safety protocol? When a chief minister travels, there is crowd." "From where he should work is entirely his call," Raut added.
"State BJP leaders should dare to ask Modi to move out of Delhi and travel in the country," he said.
