MP: Indore police holds rats responsible for missing viscera samples, probe ordered

An additional commissioner of police has been asked to probe the missing viscera case, said the DCP.

&nbsp;The Indore police in Madhya Pradesh on Friday ordered a probe after a few viscera samples went missing from a police station, with its staff claiming that the internal organs were eaten away by rats, an official said.
Viscera comprises body parts like the lungs, heart, and the organs of the digestive, excretory, and reproductive systems. Viscera samples are preserved in many murder and unnatural death cases where autopsy findings might not be conclusive.
&ldquo;We got information that a few viscera samples kept at Vijay Nagar police station have gone missing. We were told (by the staff) that they have been eaten away by rats,&rdquo; Deputy Commissioner of Police Sampat Upadhyay told PTI.
An additional commissioner of police has been asked to probe the missing viscera case, said the DCP.
The samples had been preserved in a salt solution in plastic containers, he said.
&ldquo;So it is possible for the rats to damage it (containers). However, a conclusion will be drawn only after a thorough probe,&rdquo; said the official.&nbsp;

A report in The News Minute has claimed that the passenger who unlocked emergency door of the IndiGo flight was BJP MP Tejasvi Surya.
As per the report, Chennai Airport and DGCA officials confirmed the incident that the emergency door of the plane was accidentally unlocked. However, they refused to divulge any details on the passenger's identity or whether it was Surya.

 Lakshadweep MP Mohammad Faizal disqualified after being convicted in murder case

The court in Lakshadweep had on Wednesday sentenced four people, including Faizal, to 10 years in jail after they were found guilty in an attempt to murder case.

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued notification disqualifying Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal, who was recently convicted in an attempt to murder case by a court in the union territory.
As per the notification issued on Friday, Faizal stands disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha from January 11, the date of his conviction by a sessions court in Kavaratti.
The decision was taken under the provisions of Article 102 (l) (e) of the Constitution of India read with Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
"Consequent upon his conviction by the Court of Sessions, Kavaratti, Lakshadweep in Sessions case no. 01/2017, Shri Mohammed Faizal P.P., Member of Lok Sabha representing the Lakshadweep Parliamentary Constituency of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep stands disqualified from the membership of Lok Sabha from the date of his conviction i.e. 11 January, 2023 in terms of the provisions of Article 102(l)(e) of the Constitution of India read with Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951," it said.

Britain&rsquo;s first female Sikh MP has written to the UK government calling for an independent inquiry into a state-funded National Health Service (NHS) hospital trust in Birmingham following the suicide of an Indian-origin junior doctor and several reports of bullying she has received from staff.
Preet Kaur Gill, who is the member of Parliament for Birmingham Edgbaston where the hospital trust is based, on Wednesday published her letter to UK Health Secretary Steve Barclay on Twitter, which calls for an inquiry into the culture at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).
She referenced the suicide of 35-year-old Dr Vaishnavi Kumar who worked at Birmingham Queen Elizabeth Hospital and whose inquest last month heard how she felt &ldquo;belittled&rdquo; at work and would come home and cry.

&ldquo;In the wake of the inquest following the heart-breaking suicide of Dr Vaishnavi Kumar, where bullying and condescension at work was cited as a contributing factor in her death, I am absolutely determined that this must be a turning point for the Trust,&rdquo; reads Gill&rsquo;s letter dated December 14.
&ldquo;I have been inundated by messages from UHB staff, past and present, who have contacted me to share their experience of what has been repeatedly described as a toxic culture that has had an alarming impact on staff and patient care. Staff have been bullied and demeaned for raising concerns about policies and practices that they believe have compromised patient care, and in some cases even led to deaths,&rdquo; it notes.
The senior Opposition Labour Party MP and shadow secretary of state for international development said many of the staff who have been in contact with her have described a &ldquo;put up or shut up&rdquo; culture at the NHS hospitals trust.
An investigation by BBC&rsquo;s &lsquo;Newsnight&rsquo; programme earlier this month found that doctors at the Trust were &ldquo;punished&rdquo; for raising safety concerns.
The Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB) has since announced a three-part review into the culture at UHB, with the first report expected next month.
However, Gill is calling for matters to go further with an independent inquiry in order to give confidence to whistleblowers who would want to feel safe to come forward with their evidence.
The UHB is one of the UK&rsquo;s big NHS trusts, which manages a number of hospitals in the area.
&ldquo;We welcome the support that is being put in place and we look forward to working positively and constructively with our NHS colleagues,&rdquo; a UHB statement said.
&ldquo;This will build upon the work already under way across UHB to understand the issues that have been highlighted. It is very clear that there is a strength of feeling in a number of areas and we are committed to addressing these. Our focus now is to continue to provide high standards of care, while supporting all colleagues, as we head into a particularly challenging winter period,&rdquo; it added.

Congress MP from Kerala on Wednesday compared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) with the Popular Front of India and demanded a similar ban on it for perpetuating "Hindu communalism." 
The remarks by Lok Sabha MP Kodikunnil Suresh came in the wake of the ban by the central government issued through a notification late on Tuesday on Popular Front of India and its affiliates for having 'terror links."
"We demand a ban on RSS as well. The ban on PFI is not the remedy as RSS is also spreading Hindu communalism throughout the country," K Suresh said. "So both the RSS and PFI are equal. The government should ban both. Why only PFI? RSS is also doing the majority communalism," he said. K Suresh further added that the communalism of both the majority as well as minority is dangerous.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday night made the announcement through a notification declaring "the PFI and its associates or affiliates or fronts as an unlawful association with immediate effect". 
Alongwith PFI, a ban was also imposed on its fronts including Rehab India Foundation (RIF). Campus Front of India (CFI), All India Imams Council (AIIC), National Confederation of Human Rights Organization (NCHRO), National Women's Front, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation and Rehab Foundation, Kerala as an "unlawful association".

A school teacher in Madhya Pradesh has been suspended and an inquiry ordered after he allegedly asked a 10-year-old tribal student to take off her dirty uniform in front of other students, an official said on Sunday.
A picture of the incident, which took place in Bara Kala village of Shahdol district on Friday, surfaced on social media in which the Class 5 student was seen only in her undergarments and the teacher, Shrawan Kumar Tripathi, was seen washing her clothes and other girls standing nearby.
The student had to sit in that condition for about two hours till her clothes dried, some villagers claimed.
After the incident, Tripathi, posted as a teacher at a government primary school run by the tribal affairs department in the village, shared pictures of the incident on a WhatsApp group of the department, while terming himself as “Swachhata Mitra” (cleanliness volunteer), an official said.
The villagers expressed anger after pictures of the incident surfaced on social media.
When contacted, MP Tribal Welfare Department's assistant commissioner Anand Rai Sinha told PTI that after he came to know about pictures of the incident, Tripathi was suspended on Saturday.
After seeing the girl's soiled uniform, the teacher allegedly asked her to take it off and washed it in front of other students, the official said.
Sinha said he has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.

During the event in Dindori, Chouhan was being briefed about the status of the Ujjwala scheme. Under the scheme, LPG connections are distributed among women from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families.
He was informed that the district had not met its targets. Seemingly annoyed at the report, Chouhan then asked the official to call the DSO on stage and explain. 
While the DSO reported progress and reasoned for the failure, MP CM said, “Go, you’re suspended.” 
The suspension is yet to be confirmed officially.

A chilling incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh, when a cop strangled a six-year-old boy for asking money repeatedly. The child was reportedly asking for money to buy food during the Rath Yatra in the Datia district of MP, the police said. 
Ravi Sharma, a police constable, allegedly strangulated the boy in a fit of rage, put his body in the car's boot and drove back to Gwalior before dumping his body at an abandoned spot. 
The accused told the police that he was suffering from depression and got annoyed when the boy repeatedly asked for money. 
A CCTV footage of the incident has been recovered in which Sharma's car was spotted passing by the crime scene. 
Aman Singh Rathore, Datia Superintendent of police has reportedly written to the state police headquarters asking for the accused cop to be dismissed with immediate effect.

After a sexist news story on UK Parliamentarian Angela Rayner caused a huge controversy, Prime Minister Boris Johnson spoke on the issue.
The objectionable story had claimed that Rayner crosses and uncrosses her legs to distract PM Johnson during Parliament proceedings. The story by media outlet The Mail On Sunday had quoted an anonymous leader of the ruling Conservative party to make the claim.
Speaking to reporters, PM Johnson condemned the story, and also warned of "terrors of the earth" for the person who made the misogynist allegation against Angela Rayner.
Johnson said, "It's hard to say on the basis of that particular story. But I have to say - I thought it was most appalling load of sexist, misogynist tripe. I immediately got in touch with Angela, and we had a very friendly exchange. If we ever find who was responsible... Well, I don't know what we'll do with him, but there will be the terrors of the earth. But it's totally intolerable, that kind of thing."
After the story was published, Angela Rayner, who is Deputy Leader of the Opposition Labour party, had accused Boris Johnson's "cheerleaders" of spreading "desperate, perverted smears in their doomed attempts to save his skin".
Rayner received widespread support after the story, with calls for tackling sexism and misogyny in UK's political circles and media.
