The 23-year-old Indian began his Bahrain race at the back of the grid but managed to drive through and secure a top 10 position.&nbsp;

India's Kush Maini finished a creditable seventh after starting from the back of the grid in the opening round of the Formula 2 Championship Feature Race in Bahrain on Saturday.
Maini, who is part of the Alpine academy driving for the Invicta team, drove an amazing feature race after starting absolutely last.
Maini, in fact, secured the pole position in the qualifying but was disqualified because of some technical infringement with his car.
He went on the Prime tyres like the majority of the drivers and ensured that he had a long and consistent stint before changing to the faster soft tyres.
He was the last to pit and fortunately well timed with a safety car and he exited the pits in P11.
With fresh tyres, he made good progress through the field by first passing both the Prema cars driven by Bearman and Antonelli.
"I was really happy when we got provisional pole on Thursday because that meant that we were able to deliver over one lap. It was a day with the highest of highs and then the low when we were told much later that my qualifying times won't count because I was disqualified due to a technical reason," Maini said.
"Even though it did not change the performance, I had to start both races from the back of the grid. I tried to make as many positions as I could in both races and so as a team we also have enough data to go into the next round.
"It was also good to get some points in the feature race. Looking forward to racing in Saudi next week," he added.

Indian racer Kush Maini took his maiden pole position for the Formula 2 season's opening race in Bahrain on Thursday.&nbsp; Meanwhile, Maini's teammate Gabriel Bortoleto came a close second, 0.219 seconds behind.&nbsp; Last year, Maini had finished 4th in Bahrain Grand Prix, collecting 14 points overall from his debut race weekend.&nbsp; The 23-year-old is an Alpine Academy driver being mentored by two-time F1 World Champion Mika Hakkinen and his sights set on the big Formula 1 stage.&nbsp;

Speaking to the news agency PTI, India's first F1 driver Narain Karthikeyan reckoned that the Formula E championships will provide the much-needed buzz to the stagnating motorsport in the country.&nbsp;
However, Karthikeyan feels that a lot more needs to be done for the sport to flourish in India.&nbsp;

Though the crash helmets were effective in preventing head injuries, this device restricts any large objects entering the car's cockpit. It has the ability to save the driver in case the car flips or lands on another.
The governing body for world Motorsport, FIA, after its research highlighted that the survival rate of drivers increased by 17% due to the Halo technology. As per the international body, the sturdy bar which is the 'strongest part of the car' has the capability to take the weight of 2 African elephants (6000kgs) and can deflect a large suitcase at a speed of 225 km/hr.
Although, when introduced, the technology did not get a warm welcome, but it has proved to be a life-saver.
Hamilton, the Mercedes driver who in 2021 had a near-death experience at the Monza GP, credited Halo for saving his life; In 2016, he had called it the, 'worst looking modification in F1 history'.
At the Bahrain GP in 2020, Grosjean's car split into two and immediately caught fire, but the French racer limped off with some minor burns on his fingers. He later called the device 'ugly, but life-saving!'
