The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday attacked the Delhi BJP government, alleging the dismissal of thousands of doctors, nurses, pharmacists and multi-tasking workers (MTWs) from the Mohalla clinics.
Responding to the allegations, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh said the government will not do injustice to anyone and everyone eligible will be included.
"There will be a proper process to hire doctors and all eligible candidates can apply. There will be transparency in the selection as we aim to provide the best healthcare to our people.
"All good doctors and healthcare workers will be with us. Everything will be done systematically," the minister told PTI.
Earlier, addressing a press conference, Delhi AAP chief Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the minutes of a meeting issued on May 7 indicated plans to shut down most Mohalla clinics in Delhi. The stated reason, he said, was that Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs would be established in their place and wherever an Aarogya Mandir is built, there would be no need for a nearby Mohalla Clinic.
According to him, the statement read that the clinics would remain operational only until the Aarogya Mandirs are constructed, after which both the clinics and their personnel would be removed.
"They've been trying to get a meeting with the chief minister since then. But when they got no response, they were left with no choice but to come in thousands to the CM's Janta Darbar," he said.
Bharadwaj accused the BJP of going back on its promise.
"Before elections, the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), (Union Health Minister) J P Nadda and every BJP MP and minister promised that no public welfare scheme run during the AAP government tenure -- be it free electricity, 20,000 litres of water or Mohalla clinics -- would be stopped. But the first order by the new health minister was to shut down 250 rented clinics," he said.
"With the sentiment of political hatred, all the facilities are being shut down. And on top of that, the people who used to come to the clinics every day, used to get free treatment, free medicines and free tests, those facilities are also being shut down by the BJP," he added.
Bharadwaj noted that many of the staffers have been working since 2017.
"For more than eight years, they've worked, earning between Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 a month. Their income depends on patient turnout. Their entire family is dependent on them," he said.
"Just like the BJP removed over 10,000 bus marshals, data entry operators in hospitals, yoga instructors, Delhi Assembly Research Centre (DARC) fellows and guest teachers, now they're targeting the Mohalla Clinic staff. This is shameful," he added.
"In Arvind Kejriwal's government, the poor got jobs. Today, under the BJP, they are being removed without any thought about how they will run their homes and feed their families," he added.

The number of medical tests provided free of cost by the city government at present is 212, officials said.

&nbsp;Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said his government is starting special mohalla clinics for women where gynecological services, tests, and medicines will be available free of cost for them.
Mohalla clinics system is one of the flagship initiatives of the Kejriwal government and is aimed at boosting the primary healthcare system in Delhi.
The chief minister in a tweet in Hindi said, "Good news for the women of Delhi. Another new initiative is going to happen in the national capital&rsquo;s world-class health services from today.&rdquo; "The government is going to start a special 'Mahila Mohalla Clinic' where women will get services of a gynecologist, tests, medicines, and tests free of cost," he said.
More details about this new initiative are awaited.
According to the Delhi government's Outcome Budget presented in the Assembly on March 25, the Kejriwal government's target is to open 1,000 Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics (AAMC) of which 520 AAMCs were operational in the national capital as on December 31, 2021.
On average, each AAMC handles 116 patients per day and together a total of over 60,000 patients a day, it said.&nbsp;

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Monday dedicated 75 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' to the people of the state to mark 75 years of India's independence.
Hoisting the national flag during a state-level function at Guru Nanak Stadium here, Mann said these mohalla clinics will offer around 100 types of clinical tests for free, besides giving medicines to patients at no cost.
Each of these clinics will have four staff members, including an MBBS doctor and a laboratory technician, he said.
"Today, we dedicate 75 mohalla clinics to mark 75 years of Independence," Mann told the media. More such clinics will be launched in the coming days, he added.
"We had promised to set up mohalla clinics in Punjab. The experiment of setting up such in Delhi has been very successful," he said.
Responding to the Opposition's criticism of converting buildings of 'Sewa Kendras' into 'Aam Aadmi Clinics', Mann said the structures had been lying in shambles and they were converted into 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' or mohalla clinics after renovation.

"We are fulfilling our promises," the chief minister claimed.
Mann also spoke about his government's other initiatives such as 'One MLA, One Pension' and free electricity.
"After the AAP government was formed, we started taking decisions from Day One, and now, results of these decisions have started coming," he said.
"One MLA, One Pension law has been implemented. We spoke about giving 300 units of free electricity from July 1. In around 20 days, 51 lakh households will get zero electricity bills," he said.

Mohalla clinics are all set to open at eight metro stations in the national capital. The eight metro stations include Lal Quila, Chandni Chowk, Jama Masjid, Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk, Uttam Nagar West, Ramesh Nagar and Nehru Enclave.
Setting up mohalla clinics at metro stations was a long-pending proposal. According to the sources, Delhi government has written to metro several times, this time it agreed to lend its land to the health department. Once the process gets finalised, PWD will be issued for the construction of clinics.
Mohalla clinic was an initiative by AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in 2015, so far there are 505 mohalla clinics all over Delhi and served more than 16.24 million residents. The party kept a promise to make 1000 clinics across the city. The reason behind setting up mohalla clinics at residential areas, markets, near schools was that Delhi citizens who cannot afford medicines or treatment at hospitals can come to mohalla clinics for their treatment, lab tests, OPD, etc. all these services will be provided by mohalla clinics will be free.

Health Minister Satyendar Jain informed that three doctors have been terminated and the matter is being probed. He assured that the guilty will not be spared.
