Authorities in Mohali are investigating a fast food factory after finding a dog's head in a fridge, raising food safety concerns.

A large-scale investigation has been launched after a shocking discovery during a sanitation raid at a fast food factory in Mattaur. Authorities found a dog's head inside a fridge, prompting immediate concern among local residents and officials.
The unsettling find occurred during a two-day operation targeting unhygienic food production practices. The municipal team, responding to complaints from the community, raided a factory producing momos and spring rolls in a residential area. Online videos had previously revealed workers using unsanitary water and spoiled vegetables, sparking outrage.
This establishment, which has been distributing its products to Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Kalka for two years, was found to be producing over a quintal of snacks daily. Additional discoveries included frozen meat, a crusher machine, and recycled cooking oil, raising serious health concerns.
The crackdown extended into Monday, with municipal health teams inspecting local chicken shops in Mattaur. They confiscated and destroyed nearly 60 kg of odorous, frozen chicken. Samples of various food items from the raid, including momos, spring rolls, and sauces, have been sent for laboratory analysis.
The discovery of what appears to be a pug's head in a fridge has incited alarm, particularly after locals, upon viewing it, cried out "billa." Officials, however, clarified that the meat was not incorporated into the food items sold, but was allegedly consumed by the workers, who are of Nepali descent.
The head is being examined by the Veterinary Department to ascertain whether dog meat was part of the factory's products.
District Health Officer investigations at linked sites revealed multiple violations, such as the use of unsanitary ingredients and the lack of proper registration for the vendors. It is recommended that actions be taken against the factory owner and associated operators.
Dr. Sangita Jaina, Mohali Civil Surgeon, indicated that a detailed report has been prepared for the Deputy Commissioner and local law enforcement to determine necessary legal proceedings.
Assistant Food Safety Commissioner Dr. Amrit Warring confirmed police involvement, stating further decisions will hinge on the lab analysis results.
This case highlights pressing concerns about food safety standards and the urgent need for stricter regulatory measures in the region.

In a significant development amidst the ongoing crackdown on organized crime, the Punjab Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with SAS Nagar Police, arrested four operatives linked to Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dalla and another foreign handler. The operatives were found in possession of three .32 caliber pistols and 16 cartridges.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Gagandeep Singh and Navjot Singh alias Nishu, both residents of Amloh in Fatehgarh Sahib, and currently residing in Kharar; Lakhwinder Singh, a resident of Bhadson in Patiala; and Vipanpreet Singh, from Faridkot. Police also seized their white Swift car, which they were traveling in.
DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the accused confessed to opening fire at a car accessories showroom in Phase 11, Mohali, on the night of December 1-2, with the intent to intimidate the shop owner and extort money. The attack was directed by their foreign-based handler, Daljit Singh alias Ninda, a history-sheeter who fled to the USA using fake documents.
Yadav added that the module had ties with the radical Arsh Dalla and was planning further crimes at his command. All arrested individuals have an extensive criminal record, with several cases registered against them. Investigations are continuing to uncover more individuals involved in this operation.
The AGTF, led by ADGP Promod Ban and supported by local police, utilized CCTV footage and technical evidence to swiftly identify and arrest the suspects. Further, Gagandeep was also wanted in a dacoity case in Amloh, while Vipanpreet had prior involvement in shooting incidents in Jalandhar and Faridkot.
A case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act at SAS Nagar Police Station.

Days after a rocket-propelled grenade hit a police building in Punjab's Mohali, CCTV footage of the incident has emerged.
The CCTV visuals show some cars parked near the building. Suddenly there's a bright flash of light, and the camera shakes violently, going out of focus. Some sparks are also visible, along with a car moving on the road.
Although police believe that the grenade was fired from a car, it is unclear if it's the same one as seen in the CCTV footage. The building targeted on May 9 was the Punjab Police intelligence headquarters in Mohali.
The rocket-propelled grenade had entered room number 41 on the third floor, with windows of other rooms breaking due to the impact. The grenade hit the ceiling, and then landed on a chair, as per a police officer.

Days after a rocket-propelled grenade hit a police building in Punjab's Mohali, CCTV footage of the incident has emerged.
The CCTV visuals show some cars parked near the building. Suddenly there's a bright flash of light, and the camera shakes violently, going out of focus. Some sparks are also visible, along with a car moving on the road.
Although police believe that the grenade was fired from a car, it is unclear if it's the same one as seen in the CCTV footage. The building targeted on May 9 was the Punjab Police intelligence headquarters in Mohali.

The rocket-propelled grenade had entered room number 41 on the third floor, with windows of other rooms breaking due to the impact. The grenade hit the ceiling, and then landed on a chair, as per a police officer.
Police suspect that the attack was masterminded by gangster-turned-Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda, who is currently in Pakistan.

A day after a grenade attack at Punjab Police's intelligence headquarters, a link to Pakistan has reportedly emerged. Investigators believe that gangster-turned-Khalistani terrorist Harvinder Singh Rinda is the mastermind of the attack, according to a Hindustan Times report.
The probe so far suggested that a gang active in Punjab and Haryana carried out the attack on Rinda's orders. Rinda is currently in Pakistan, under the protection of Pakistani agencies. He allegedly uses his gangster connections and Pakistani money to perpetrate terror acts in India.
Recently, 3 terror modules linked to Rinda were busted. These were allegedly involved in attacks on the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) police station at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Kalma police post in Rupnagar.
On May 9, at around 7:45 pm, a rocket-propelled grenade hit room number 41 on the third floor of the police intelligence HQ in Mohali. The grenade came in through the window, hit the roof, and then landed on a chair, according to sub-inspector Balkar Singh, whose statement was cited in the FIR.
The grenade is believed to have been fired by two police from a car. The attackers then fled towards Haryana. The attack shattered windows of rooms on the floor, but no casualties were suffered.

Few suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the explosion at the Punjab Police's intelligence wing headquarters in Mohali on Monday night, according to the police. 
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a meeting with Punjab's Director General of Police and other senior office and asked them to submit a report on the incident. 
A rocket-propelled grenade was fired at the third floor of the highly-guarded building in sector 77 in Mohali on Monday night, following which an alert was sounded.
The incident is being seen as a major intelligence failure as the office houses the state counter intelligence wing, special task force and some other units.
