Fortnite&nbsp;developer Epic Games received a&nbsp;$2 billion investment from Sony and the parent company of Lego.

Epic Games, the developers of Fortnite and the Unreal Engine, have raised $2 billion in investment from Sony and the holding company behind the Lego Group. As a result, Epic Games has now been valued at $31.5 billion.
Sony and the Kirkbi investment company each invested around $1 billion dollars. The fundraising is meant to advance Epic Games&rsquo; efforts into building a metaverse for kids in partnership with Lego.
With this investment, Sony has tripled its stake in Epic Games. The company invested $250 million into Epic in 2020, and then another $200 million a year later.

Epic Games recently launched Unreal Engine 5, their latest engine which will power games across developers. The company&rsquo;s stock is privately held, and it is controlled entirely by CEO Tim Sweeney.

Facebook parent company Meta could introduce a new virtual currency 'Zuck Bucks' that the company's customers can use across its apps. 'Zuck Bucks' seems to be named after Meta founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
However, 'Zuck Bucks' is less likely to be a cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of others.
Tech giant Meta is looking into introducing a centralised in-app currency system that will be shared across its platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, as reported by The Financial Times.

Roblox has built a huge business selling Robux, and Meta could try to follow some of that success on its own platforms.
The FT report says Meta plans to launch a pilot in mid-May.

In a December Medium post, the 43-year-old woman wrote that within 60 seconds of joining 3-4 male avatars, with male voices, virtually gang-raped her avatar and took photos.
Calling it a nightmare, the London-based woman said in the post that as she tried to get away, the male avatars yelled, ‘Don’t pretend you didn’t love it’.
The woman who is a, a vice president of research for another metaverse company, said in her Medium post that she didn’t use any safety features because the whole experience happened so quickly. And, after she shared her experience, she said she was met with some unsympathetic commentators, who told her, “Don’t choose a female avatar, it’s a simple fix” and dismissed her as making “a pathetic cry for attention.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasised on Apple&rsquo;s investments into AR. Speaking at Apple&rsquo;s Q1 2022 earnings call, Cook said that AR apps provided 'incredible AR experiences for millions of people today.' Apple has 14,000 AR apps on its App Store currently, and this number is slated to rise in the coming years.
When asked about Apple&rsquo;s plans for the metaverse, Cook said that Apple sees a lot of potential in this space, and is investing accordingly.
Earlier reports, including from noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, have indicated that Apple is working on launch an AR/VR mixed reality headset, which was planned to launch in 2021, but has now been pushed to 2023. Apple has not officially announced anything about the headset yet.

Cook had stated separately last week that Apple&rsquo;s research and development efforts are focused on the integration of hardware, software, and services. "There's quite a bit of investment going into things that are not on the market at this point,&rdquo; he said.
