A recent study published in the journal 'Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes' has revealed a concerning link between job-related stress and inadequate pay in men, highlighting a twofold increase in the risk of heart disease compared to their counterparts not facing these psychosocial stressors.
The research, conducted by Mathilde Lavigne-Robichaud at the CHU de Quebec-University Laval Research Center in Quebec, Canada, pinpointed two specific psychosocial stressors, namely job strain and effort-reward imbalance, as potential drivers of elevated heart disease risk.&nbsp;
In this study, researchers studied 6,500 white-collar workers, with an average age of 45 years old, without heart disease and followed them for 18 years, from 2000 to 2018.
This discovery underscores the critical importance of comprehending the intricate relationship between workplace stressors and cardiovascular health, given the substantial time individuals dedicate to their jobs. Such insights are paramount for safeguarding public health and promoting the well-being of the workforce.
The study's findings highlighted that men who encountered either job strain or effort-reward imbalance faced a 49 per cent higher likelihood of developing heart disease in comparison to those who did not report experiencing these stressors.
Interestingly, for men who reported both job strain and effort-reward imbalance simultaneously, the risk of heart disease doubled in comparison to men who were not exposed to this combination of stressors.
Intriguingly, the influence of psychosocial stress in the workplace on women's heart health remained uncertain and inconclusive based on the study's outcomes.

The research was done at Yamagata University where researchers studied medical histories and stress levels of around 21,000 individuals&mdash;both men and women for nine years.&nbsp;
It was found that men with no sexual interest had a death rate of 9.6 per cent, while those with an active sex life were at 5.6 per cent. On the other hand, the study found no such link in women.

In the recent past, a piece of news made rounds on the internet which said that the day is not far when men can also have birth control pills. Even though the pill is not available in the market yet, it raised a question whether men will actually consider taking them.&nbsp;
Soon after this, a study was presented at the Reproductive Health Innovation Summit in Boston in February 2023, which says that men and their partners are in favour of birth control pills for men.&nbsp;
The survey was done by the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation which involved 19,000 adult men from eight different countries, namely Nigeria, Kenya, Cote d&rsquo;Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, and the USA.
And it was concluded that 78% to 98% of men are ready to take male contraceptive pills.

Though study authors said as the studies were based on small number of men, they&rsquo;ll need more research in this area, but according to them physical activity does help any kind of fertility dysfunction in men.&nbsp;

The results revealed that after exposure to noradrenaline, the hearts of male and female rats first reacted similarly. However, some regions of the female heart normalised more quickly than those of the male heart, which creates differences in the heart's electrical activity.&nbsp;

For the first time, a decrease in total sperm count and sperm concentration was observed in men there.&nbsp;
According to the authors of the study, the decline in sperm count is more prevalent in India. They say that in the last 46 years, there has been a decrease of up to 50 percent in sperm count all over the world but in recent years the decline is drastic.&nbsp;
