Insecurity of men about masculinity is an age-old sensitive topic and now a study has connected it to consumption of meat. It has found that men who eat more meat also view themselves as more traditionally masculine.

The researchers from the University of Canberra in Australia surveyed around 5,244 men and women on their gender attitudes, typicality towards eating meat.

It was found that women who view themselves as stereotypically feminine saw eating meat as 'natural, necessary and nice'.

On the other hand, men tend to eat more meat than women because they think it is a sign of masculinity. Despite the fact that nutritionally, both genders require the same amount.
