A Variety report revealed that Scorsese wants to rope in Leonardo as the legendary singer, with JLaw potentially playing the role of his second wife, Ava Gardner. Martin Scorsese, the 81-year-old filmmaker, became the most-nominated living director in the Oscars history. Scorsese is only behind William Wyler, who holds the record with 12 nominations, per the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Wyler died in 1981, at age 79.
Reacting to this achievement, Scorsese in a statement said, &lsquo;It&rsquo;s deeply gratifying to receive this recognition from the Academy, for myself and for so many of my collaborators on Killers of the Flower Moon. It was a remarkable experience to make this picture, to work together with the Osage community to tell the story of a genuine American tragedy, hidden in the shadows of official culture for far too long.&rsquo;
&lsquo;I only wish that Robbie Robertson had lived to see his work recognized &mdash; our many years of friendship and Robbie&rsquo;s growing consciousness of his own Native heritage played a crucial role in my desire to get this film onscreen,&rsquo; he added of the film's composer, who died two months before its release, at age 80.
Scorsese has now surpassed Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg in Best Director nominations, reaching a total of 10 with his work on &lsquo;Killers of the Flower Moon.&rsquo; The film itself has garnered 10 Academy Award nominations this year, including a nod for Best Picture.
Scorsese, with a potential win, could secure his second Oscar, previously earning Best Director for &lsquo;The Departed&rsquo; in 2006. His competitors this year include Justine Triet (Anatomy of a Fall), Christopher Nolan (Oppenheimer), Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things), and Jonathan Glazer (The Zone of Interest).
Notable acting nominations for &lsquo;Killers of the Flower Moon&rsquo; include Lily Gladstone in the Best Actress category and veteran Robert De Niro for Best Supporting Actor.
Gladstone, at 37, made history as the first Native American actress to receive an Oscar nomination in the category, becoming the fourth Indigenous actress ever nominated.

Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese will receive the Honorary Golden Bear Lifetime Achievement Award at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival.
The festival will recognize Scorsese's outstanding contributions to cinema. The filmmaker will be honored in an award ceremony at Berlinale Palast on February 20, 2024.
Scorsese has helmed over 70 films including the latest 'Killers of the Flower Moon' which is a strong Oscar contender.
As a cinema lover, Scorsese has also championed the cause of film preservation. With The Film Foundation, he supports the restoration and distribution of classic films.
&lsquo;For anyone who considers cinema as the art of shaping a story in such a way that is both completely personal and universal, Martin Scorsese is an unmatched role model,&rsquo; said Berlin Film Festival co-directors Mari&euml;tte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian.
&lsquo;His films have accompanied our history as spectators and human beings, his characters have lived and grown within us, his view of history and mankind has helped us to understand and question who we are and where we come from,&rsquo; they added.
Martin Scorsese has visited Berlin multiple times in the past, bringing films like "Raging Bull," "Gangs of New York," and "Shutter Island," all of which were screened out of competition at the festival. He also presented "Cape Fear," which competed in the Berlinale in 1992.
Furthermore, his Rolling Stones concert film "Shine a Light" served as the opening night film for the 2008 Berlinale.
Additionally, Scorsese's HBO documentary "The 50 Year Argument" about the New York Review of Books was first presented as a work in progress in Berlin in 2014.

&lsquo;I have responded to the Pope&rsquo;s appeal to artists in the only way I know how: by imagining and writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus. And I&rsquo;m about to start making it,&rsquo; the director said, reported entertainment outlet Variety.
Martin Scorsese and his wife Helen Morris met Pop Francis during a brief private audience on May 27. He later attended the conference titled &lsquo;The Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination&rsquo;. At the conference, the filmmaker also talked about the meaning of his 1988 epic &lsquo;The Last Temptation of Christ&rsquo; and of &lsquo;the subsequent step in his research on the figure of Jesus&rsquo; represented by his 2016 drama &lsquo;Silence&rsquo; about the persecution of Jesuit Christians in 17th-century Japan.
