Japan's Hina Hayata celebrated her "win" twice in the quarter-final match against India's dark horse Manika Batra at WTT Saudi Smash in Jeddah on Thursday.
Hayata thought she'd won after taking the 4th game 13-11 - Batra thought the same. But the assistant umpire refused to shake the players' hands, reminding them the match was not over yet.
Both Hayata and Batra forgot it was best of seven matches starting from the quarter-finals at the WTT Super Smash events.
The fifth seed from Japan didn't lose her focus and won the 5th game 11-2. She can finally shake the hands of the umpires after reaching the semi-finals.

Ace Indian paddler Manika Batra bowed out of the World Table Tennis Championships after losing a hard-fought round of 32 match against Adriana Diaz 3-4.
World number 39 from India, lost 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 6-11, 13-11, 9-11, 11-3 against her opponent from Puerto Rico, who was ranked 26 places above her.
Despite the loss, it was the best result for India in the singles competition at the event.
Achanta Sharath Kamal and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran also lost their men's doubles round of 16 clash.

Earlier, Manika lost the semifinal 8-11 11-7 7-11 6-11 11-8 7-11 (2-4) to world No.5 Japanese paddler Mima Ito.&nbsp;

The Delhi High Court on Thursday ordered a temporary stay on the Table Tennis Federation of India's&nbsp;rules that made it compulsory for a player to attend a national camp in order to be eligible for selection for international events.
The move came following star Indian player Manika&nbsp;Batra's&nbsp;petition after she was not selected in India's Table Tennis squad for the Asian Championships in Doha. Manika&nbsp;was left out as she opted to skip the national cam in order to train with her personal coach. She moved the Delhi High Court, which&nbsp;noted that Manika was the highest-ranking player in the country and suggested that there should be some balance in taking such decisions.

National Sports Awards go virtual amid pandemic 

Prize money for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award has been increased to Rs 25 lakh while Arjuna Award winners will now get Rs 15 lakh&nbsp;

Amidst the global pandemic, the Indian National Sports Awards went virtual on Saturday as President Ramnath&nbsp;Kovind&nbsp;awarded the winners for this year. 9 Sports Authority of India&nbsp;centres were chosen to host the sports stars as they joined the function virtually. A total of 5 Rajiv&nbsp;Gandhi Khel&nbsp;Ratna&nbsp;awards were given this time as Rohit&nbsp;Sharma who is in Abu&nbsp;Dhabi&nbsp;for IPL&nbsp;&amp; Vinesh&nbsp;Phogat&nbsp;who tested positive missed the award function.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mariyappan Thangavelu, Rani Rampal and Manika Batra&nbsp;received the prestigious Khel&nbsp;Ratna&nbsp;as a total of 27 Arjuna&nbsp;Awards were also given out. The prize money for the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award has been increased to Rs 25 lakh from the previous amount of Rs 7.5 lakh, while Arjuna Award has been enhanced to Rs 15 lakh&nbsp;announced Sports Minister&nbsp;Kiren&nbsp;Rijiju.&nbsp;
