Hyderabad: The Enforcement Directorate has summoned popular actor Ghattamaneni Mahesh Babu in a money laundering case linked to realty groups Surana Group and Sai Surya Developers.
The agency has asked Mr Babu to appear for an inquiry on Sunday. The actor, it was found, received over Rs 5.5 crore for appearing in advertisements for the Surana Group.
Sai Surya Developers paid Mr Babu Rs 5.9 crore, including Rs 2.5 crore in cash and Rs 3.4 crore via cheque, for promotional activities.
The Enforcement Directorate will investigate the remuneration paid to Mr Babu. During searches at Surana Group's affiliated companies, Sai Surya Developers and Bhagyanagar Properties, officials of the agency have uncovered illegal transactions worth Rs 100 crore and seized Rs 74.5 lakh in cash.
Key evidence, the agency has said, was found at the residences of Surana Group chairman Narendra Surana and Managing Director Devendar Surana at Madhapur in Hyderabad's Jubilee Hills and Bowenpally.
Evidence has also been gathered from the offices of Sai Surya Developers. The Enforcement Directorate has said Surana Group engaged in a massive fraud under the guise of real estate ventures.
The agency said in a statement that they searched four premises in Hyderabad and Secunderabad last Wednesday as part of their probe.

Actor Mahesh Babu has been chosen to voice Mufasa in the Telugu version of Disney's Mufasa: The Lion King. The film, directed by Barry Jenkins, will be released in India on December 20 in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
Mahesh Babu expressed his excitement about the role, saying, 'I have always admired Disney&rsquo;s blockbuster legacy of entertainment and timeless storytelling; the character of Mufasa appeals to me not only as a loving father guiding his son but as the supreme king of the jungle taking care of his clan. My family means everything to me, and this collaboration with Disney is personally very special as it is an experience I will cherish with my children! Telugu version of the film will feature Brahmanandam as the voice of Pumbaa and Ali as Timon. Trailer for the Telugu version will be released on August 26. The movie will use a mix of live-action and CGI to bring both new and familiar characters to life.
<h3>All about Hindi version of 'Mufasa: The Lion King'</h3>
Shah Rukh Khan will voice Mufasa in the Hindi version. His sons Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan will voice Simba and young Mufasa, respectively. This will be AbRam&rsquo;s first time voicing a character, while Aryan has previously voiced Simba in the Hindi version of 'The Lion King' from 2019.
English version of the film features voices from Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Taka, Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

Taking to social media, Mahesh Babu shared the happy news with his fans.
