Mumbai Police on Tuesday issued a notice to Jarange and his team, asking them to vacate Azad Maidan at the earliest, saying they violated conditions laid down by the protest.
Earlier, the Bombay High Court on Monday asked his supporters to vacate and clean up all streets in the city by Tuesday noon and restore normalcy.
"I am ready for talks with the government," the 43-year-old activist said on the fifth day of his protest at Azad Maidan.
"I can go to any extent if you also do that. I am not moving out of here till my demands are met. If you try to arrest or evict us from Mumbai, it will be dangerous for you," he warned.
Jarange further said he wants to tell Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that he is not going out of Mumbai.
"I am confident that the high court will give poor Marathas justice. We are following all directives of the high court. There are 4,000 to 5,000 protesters. Give us homes if you wish," he said.
Jarange alleged CM Fadnavis was giving false information to the high court and that he will have to "pay a price".
He said the government should issue a GR saying it is implementing Hyderabad and Satara gazetteers to declare Marathas as Kunbis.
The notification, which extends quota benefits associated with the OBC community to the "sage-soyare" (blood relatives) of eligible Marathas, should also be implemented immediately, Jarange said.

Mumbai, Aug 29 (PTI) &ndash; Maratha quota agitation leader Manoj Jarange arrived at Azad Maidan in south Mumbai on Friday to lead a protest joined by thousands of supporters.
Jarange, who started his journey from his village in Jalna district on Wednesday, was accompanied by hundreds of vehicles. As he entered Mumbai during the early hours, supporters greeted him at Vashi.
By around 9.45 am, Jarange made his way into Azad Maidan under police protection, welcomed by a sea of supporters wearing saffron caps and scarves, and carrying saffron flags. Many supporters eagerly took pictures and recorded videos of the event.
According to an official, the area near Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) faced significant traffic congestion in the morning as Maratha quota protesters took to the streets.
Jarange and his supporters, who began their journey from Antarwali Sarati village, more than 400 km away from Mumbai, are initiating a fresh hunger strike.

A one-year-old girl's birthday party was underway on the fourth floor when 12 flats in a wing of the building collapsed, trapping residents and guests under the debris, as per eyewitnesses.
Palghar District Collector Dr Indu Rani Jakhar on Thursday morning confirmed that the death toll in the incident has gone up to 15.
The girl, whose birthday was being celebrated when the incident occurred, was among the deceased.
Six other persons, who were injured and rescued, were undergoing treatment in various hospitals, according to an official from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC).
Emergency teams, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police and fire department, continued to sift through the rubble to check if any other person remain trapped.
The work of clearing the debris will continue to ensure no other person was trapped under the rubble, the collector told PTI.
"The work is almost complete, but we want to be absolutely sure before concluding the operation,&rdquo; she added.
The authorities on Wednesday identified seven of the deceased.
The other eight persons who died have been identified Govind Singh Ravat (28), Shubhangi Pawan Saheni (40), Kashish Pawan Saheni (35), Deepak Singh Behra (25), Sonali Rupesh Tejam (41), Harish Singh Bisht (34), Sachin Nevalkar (40) and Deepesh Soni (41).
Eyewitnesses described the horrifying scene, where a moment of happiness turned to chaos in an instant.
"People were dancing and celebrating (during the birthday party) when suddenly the entire structure collapsed like a pack of cards," said a survivor.
The aftermath was marked by chaos and panic, with people screaming and accusing the builder of negligence.
Residents claimed that unlike previous incidents of building collapses where cracks or structural weaknesses were visible beforehand, there were no such warning signs here.
The sudden collapse has raised serious concerns over building safety and unauthorised constructions in the area.
Locals have alleged "lethargy and negligence" on part of the builder and authorities, with many demanding a thorough investigation into how the unauthorised structure was allowed to house so many residents without proper safety measures.
Police on Wednesday arrested the builder after the VVMC lodged a complaint.
Luckily, the chawl or tenement on which the building collapsed was vacant, District Disaster Management Officer Vivekanand Kadam earlier said.
As a precautionary measure, all the chawls around the ill-fated building have been vacated and occupants shifted to safer places, he said.
Constructed in 2012, Ramabai Apartment has 50 flats, and the collapsed part had 12 apartments, said Kadam.
A spokesperson of the VVMC confirmed that the building was &ldquo;illegal".
The removal of debris was delayed because officials initially struggled to bring heavy machinery to the crashed building located in a congested locality.
The collapse has rendered several families homeless.
"All affected families have been temporarily housed at Chandansar Samajmandir. We are providing food, water, medical assistance, and other essential services," VVMC assistant commissioner Gilson Gonsalves said.

Nineteen units of C-60 -- an anti-Naxal commando force of Gadchiroli police -- and two units of CRPF's Quick Action Team were sent to the area, it said.
Braving torrential rains for the last two days, the team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Oeratijns M Ramesh reached the forest on Wednesday morning. Naxals opened fire as the team was conducting a search operation, the statement said.
The security personnel retaliated and the exchange of fire continued intermittently for almost eight hours.
Afterwards, the bodies of three women and a man were retrieved along with an SLR rifle, two INSAS rifles and a .303 rifle, the officials said.
The search operation for the remaining Naxals continues in the area, the statement said.

He accused the gaming zone of allowing truancy and irresponsible behaviour among minors.
When the gaming zone employee said he had no control over who entered the premises, Bhoir lost his temper and slapped him, warning such negligence could seriously impact an entire generation.
Bhoir, who was visibly agitated, claimed students had allegedly stolen Rs 4,000 from their parents to spend at the gaming centre.
He pointed at one boy and cited a drastic drop in his academic performance as an example of the negative influence of the gaming zone.
Issuing what he called a "final warning", Bhoir threatened strict action if students were found at the venue again. He said the facility could face closure if such incidents continued.
Speaking to mediapersons later, Bhoir justified the confrontation, saying several parents had approached him with complaints that their children were skipping school and misusing money to frequent the gaming zone.

The activist slammed the administration for failing to issue the government gazette regarding the Sage Soyare notification and for not implementing the gazettes of Bombay, Satara, and Hyderabad.
He claimed that more than 58 lakh documents have been collected to prove that Kunbis and Marathas are the same, and demanded the release of Kunbi certificates based on these records.
While appreciating the efforts of the Shinde Committee in unearthing crucial documents, he criticised government officers for not issuing Kunbi certificates despite evidence.
Jarange further lashed out at the state government for not withdrawing cases registered against Maratha reservation protesters, calling it a betrayal of trust.

The Marine Drive police on July 18 arrested Deshmukh and Takale on charges of unlawful assembly, intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace, and assault or obstructing a public servant when suppressing riots, an official earlier said.
They were produced before the court on Monday at the end of their police remand and remanded to judicial custody. Their lawyers subsequently sought bail, which the court allowed.
After the incident last week, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had expressed sadness, saying "the onus of maintaining parliamentary decorum, conduct and communication lies with us".
Takale has six criminal cases against his name and Deshmukh is named in eight cases, Fadnavis said.
Padalkar and Awhad had expressed regret in the assembly over the scuffle between their supporters.

Police on Sunday said they have seen the video but not received any formal complaint in the matter so far, hence no case has been registered as of now.
Referring to the episode, a leader from the &lsquo;Uttar Bharatiya (North Indian)&rsquo; community has condemned &ldquo;attempts to incite violence&rdquo; and urged the state government to take strict action.
A local functionary of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena (UBT) claimed the autorickshaw driver was taught a befitting lesson and asserted that anyone insulting the Marathi language and the state will be given a reply in the "true Shiv Sena style".
The autorickshaw driver, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had allegedly made derogatory remarks against the Marathi language, Maharashtra and Marathi icons. Its clip had also earlier surfaced on social media, drawing sharp reactions online and from local political groups.
Sources said the driver's anti-Marathi rant was triggered by an argument with a scooter rider concerning overtaking four days ago. When the scooter rider insisted that he speak in Marathi, the autorickshaw driver refused, claiming he would only speak in Hindi or Bhojpuri.
The video clip was recorded by bystanders, they added.
In the new video of the confrontation, which took place on Saturday, the auto-rickshaw driver is seen being slapped allegedly by a group of Shiv Sena (UBT) workers, including women, on a busy road near Virar railway station.
He is then made to publicly apologise to a man and his sister, with whom he allegedly misbehaved earlier, as well as to the state for "insulting" it and its linguistic and cultural heritage.
Shiv Sena (UBT) Virar city chief Uday Jadhav, who was present at the scene, later justified the action.
"If anyone dares to insult the Marathi language, Maharashtra, or Marathi people, they will get a reply in the true Shiv Sena style. We will not sit silent," Jadhav told reporters.
"The driver had the audacity to speak ill of Maharashtra and Marathi manoos. He was taught a befitting lesson. We made him apologise to the people of the state and to those he had offended," he added.
When contacted, a senior police official confirmed the incident occurred on Saturday, but said no formal complaint had been lodged so far.
"We have seen the viral video and are verifying the facts, but as of now, no complaint has been received from either party," the official said.
Meanwhile, Shivpratap Singh, a leader from the &lsquo;Uttar Bharatiya (North Indian)&rsquo; community, condemned &ldquo;attempts to incite violence&rdquo; and appealed to the state government to take strict legal action against those taking the law into their own hands.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Singh said the issue has been simmering for decades.
Referring to the assault on the auto driver, he said, &ldquo;If someone doesn&rsquo;t know how to speak Marathi, he will try to learn. Will you make him speak Marathi by using violence?&rdquo; Creating communal or regional discord in the name of Marathi or Hindi is unacceptable, he said.
The Hindi-Marathi row was ignited in the state, especially in the Mumbai metropolitan region, after opposition parties like the Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena took on the government over two GRs on the three-language policy in schools and teaching of Hindi from Class I.

The incident occurred at the school in Shahapur area of Maharashtra's Thane district on Tuesday after bloodstains were found in its toilet, they said.
It sparked an outrage among the girls' parents, who protested on the school premises on Wednesday and sought action against its management and teachers involved in the episode.
The police on Wednesday night arrested the school's principal, and a woman attendant who allegedly stripped the students and checked their private parts for menstruation, an official from Shahapur police station said.
As per the complaint lodged by a parent of one of the students, the girls, studying in classes 5 to10, were called to the school's convention hall and shown photos of blood stains in the toilet and floor by screening them through a projector.
The students were asked if anyone from them was going through the menstrual cycle.
The girls were then divided into two groups. All those who said they were menstruating were asked to give their thumb impression to the teachers. But those girls who said they were not experiencing it, were taken to the toilet one by one with a woman attendant checking their private parts, the complaint said.
Based on the complaint, a case was registered on Wednesday against the school's principal, four teachers, the attendant and two trustees, the police said.
When parents learnt about the girls being subjected to this kind of a check, they gathered at the school and demanded action against the teachers involved, Additional Superintendent of Police (Thane rural) Rahul Zalte said on Wednesday.
"The situation turned tense for a while with the irate parents demanding action," he said.
The police were probing the entire incident, the official said.
The case was registered against the eight persons under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 76 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, he said.&nbsp;

The coming together of the estranged cousins-turned-comrades has not only enthused cadres of both parties, but it could also give a lifeline to both parties, which are struggling to regain their footing after drubbing in the assembly polls last year.
In a post on X on Tuesday night, Raj Thackeray said, "A clear order...No one from the party should communicate with newspapers, news channels, or any digital platforms. Also, no one should post personal reaction videos on social media." He further said even those designated as official spokespersons of the party should not speak to the media or express views on social media without his explicit permission.
"Those who have been officially given the responsibility of speaking to the media must also seek my approval before doing so," he said.
No reason was attributed by the MNS leader or the party behind his directions.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday informed the state legislative assembly that 10,662 cases have been registered for crimes against children in five months.
Fadnavis, who holds the home department portfolio, shared the information in a written reply to a question by NCP MLA Kashinath Date and others, raising concerns about crimes against children, especially girls.
He said 10,662 cases of crimes against children were reported in the state from January till May this year.
He highlighted that 1,179 cases of molestation have been registered till March 2025.
The state had recorded 2,626 molestation cases in 2021, 3,524 in 2022, 3,886 in 2023 and 4,467 in 2024.
The chief minister, in his reply, further said that between January and March this year, Buldhana district alone reported 17 murders and 43 rape cases.
In Ahilyanagar, the incidents of rape and molestation of minor girls have risen in the last three years, he said.
The district recorded 137 cases of rape and 167 molestation, 153 cases each of rape and molestation in 2023, and 184 such cases each in 2024.
Fadnavis said that there were special assistance cells for women in all commissionerates, and Nirbhaya and Damini squads have been set up.
Special juvenile police units have been formed, and 20 POCSO and 12 fast-track courts have been set up to deal with and try such crimes, he said.

Leaders and workers of Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP) also joined the protest amid high drama on the streets and detention of several activists by police.
Shiv Sena minister Pratap Sarnaik who visited the protest site in the afternoon was heckled and driven away by angry demonstrators.
Police had denied permission for the protest march citing the potential threat to law and order. However, after high drama on the streets and apparent political intervention, the morcha passed through the original route proposed by the organisers.
The rally was organised by MNS and other pro-Marathi groups the aegis of Marathi Ekikaran Samiti to counter a protest staged by traders recently against the slapping of a food stall owner by MNS activists for not speaking Marathi, officials said.
The situation became tense when police started detaining protesters raising slogans for protecting the 'Marathi asmita' (pride). Some of them were picked up by the police while they were addressing the media.
Several functionaries of MNS were detained from midnight.
Television channels flashed images of women being bundled into police vans while they were shouting slogans against the "high-handedness" of the police. Several activists were detained inside a banquet hall to prevent them from reaching the protest venue.
As high drama unfolded on the streets, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis moved in to contain the potential political damage.
He said permission had been granted for the rally but the MNS insisted on a specific route which posed law and order challenges.
"If they ask for permission for a proper route, we will give permission today and even tomorrow. Another organisation held a rally on the route approved by the police, but these people remained adamant on a particular route," he told reporters in Mumbai.
The groundswell of support for the Marathi cause prompted Shiv Sena minister Pratap Sarnaik to criticise the police for "uncalled action" which is not in line with any government directive.
"The police's action was completely wrong. The government has not issued any such instructions to suppress a peaceful morcha in support of Marathi interests," Sarnaik told reporters and asserted that he would discuss the matter with the chief minister.
"This kind of attitude by the police is unwarranted, and if the Marathi-speaking people had sought permission for a peaceful morcha, the police should have permitted them," he said.
Sarnaik joined the protest march in the afternoon.
Thousands of people holding placards, flags and wearing white caps emblazoned with "Me Marathi" slogans, walked enthusiastically on the streets in Mira Road and adjoining Bhayandar.
Several women, workers of the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) walked together, united by the Marathi cause.
Many people at the spot directed their ire towards the BJP-led government, accusing it of allowing traders to take out a rally a few days back in the same area while denying permission to Marathi people.
"Common people will teach a lesson to them (BJP-led government) in the coming days for their hatred towards Marathi people", a protester said.
Sana Deshmukh, wearing a hijab, said the Marathi people won't let the government suppress their voice.
People marched peacefully through the main streets from Balaji Square to the Major Kaustubh Rane memorial in front of the Mira Road railway station.
The row over the "imposition" of language in primary schools of Maharashtra has snowballed into a major political flash point ahead of civic polls after MNS activists slapped a food stall owner in the Bhayander area for not speaking Marathi.
MNS activists had also damaged the glass door of Mumbai-based investor Sushil Kedia's office in Worli after he vowed not to speak Marathi and dared Raj Thackeray.
The 'language' issue took a nasty turn with former BJP MP Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirhua daring the Thackeray cousins to throw him out of Mumbai for speaking Bhojpuri.
On Monday, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey caused a flutter with his "patak, patak ke marenge" remarks targeting the Thackeray cousins.
The language row and the revocation of two GRs by the state government to introduce Hindi as a third language in primary schools has brought Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin Raj Thackeray, who heads MNS, together after 20 years last week.
Meanwhile, the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar Police has released MNS leader Avinash Jadhav and hundreds of activists detained earlier, DCP (Zone I) Prakash Gaikwad said.
"We had not permitted the morcha earlier and not even now," he told reporters.
When Sarnaik reached the spot, some members of the crowd accused Sarnaik of speaking against the interests of the Marathi manoos earlier.
Sarnaik tried to explain that he would always stand by Marathi people but was shot down with "gaddar" slogans.
NCP (SP) leader Jitendra Awhad also waded into the controversy, demanding action against police officers who allegedly refused permission for the rally.
"This is suppression of democratic rights. Action must be taken against the officers involved," he said.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has maintained that permission had been granted for the rally, in which MNS leaders planned to participate, but the party insisted on a specific route which posed law and order challenges.
State Minister Pratap Sarnaik, however, has termed the police action as "wrong" and not in line with government directives.
Videos of several MNS activists, including women, packed in police vans have surfaced on social media, but the number of people detained has not been revealed.
Protesters shouted slogans against the government, criticising it for not allowing the morcha.
The police also confined several activists inside a banquet hall to prevent them from reaching the protest venue.
The MNS's Thane unit chief, Ravindra More, posted a video on social media, which showed activists detained inside the banquet hall, many of them holding black placards condemning the government.
"Our peaceful protesters were stopped even before they could reach the site. This is not democracy," More wrote in his post.
According to sources, the police started detaining MNS workers in the early hours of the day before they could arrive at the protest venue from different parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
"The preventive action was taken to maintain law and order," said an official, declining to comment on the use of a banquet hall as a detention space.
There is heavy police deployment in the Mira Bhayander town, as the situation remains tense.
Meanwhile, State Minister and Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik criticised the police for prohibiting the morcha, saying that the action was uncalled for and not in line with any government directive.
Speaking to reporters in Thane, Sarnaik said, "The police's action was completely wrong. The government has not issued any such instructions to suppress a peaceful morcha in support of Marathi interests." He further asserted that he would discuss the matter with the chief minister.
"The manner in which the police stopped the morcha and detained people early in the morning is unjustified. If the protestors had been allowed to proceed peacefully, there would have been no law and order issue," he said.
Condemning the police action, the minister said he is also proceeding to participate in the morcha.

However, in my opinion, it is inappropriate to make such comments. Its interpretation causes confusion among the minds of people." The biggest contribution to the country's GDP comes from Maharashtra, the chief minister told reporters in the state Vidhan Bhavan premises.
"I feel no one can reject the contribution of Maharashtra and Marathi people in the history and present of the country. If someone is rejecting it, then I feel it is wrong," Fadnavis said.

The police on Monday issued orders restraining the entry of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena's (MNS) Thane and Palghar head Avinash Jadhav, who was supposed to participate in the rally, in Mira Bhayander area.
He was detained from his house in Thane at around 3.30 am, an official from the Thane police control room said.
The Raj Thackeray-led MNS also posted a video of his detention on social media.
Security was stepped up in Mira Bhayander area in light of the proposed rally, which has been prohibited by police, officials said.
A food stall owner in Bhayander area was slapped by some MNS activists on July 1 for not speaking in Marathi.
A video of the assault, which went viral on social media, showed some of the attackers wearing scarves sporting the MNS symbol.
While purchasing food, one of them asked the stall owner to speak in Marathi, to which he questioned them back. While the man shouted at the shopkeeper, some others with him slapped the stall owner, a police official earlier said.
Seven members of the MNS were later detained and allowed to go after the police served notices on them. A case was registered against them under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rioting, threatening and assault.
Traders in Bhayander area had staged a protest, demanding action against those who assaulted the food stall owner.
Jadhav was restrained from entering Mira Bhayander to participate in the rally on Tuesday, as per the prohibitory order issued on Monday by Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar (Zone 1) Deputy Commissioner of Police Prakash Gaikwad.
The order stated there were as many as 28 cases of cognizable offences registered against Jadhav at different police stations.
As Jadhav's move to come to Bhayander may aggravate the situation and give rise to law and order problems, his entry into the area has been prohibited for a day, Gaikwad said in the order.
Members of the MNS have been trying to push for the use of the Marathi language in commercial establishments and banks in the state.
