BJP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Arun Singh on Friday said the party's Maharashtra unit has made history by registering over 1.5 crore primary members and more than 1.34 lakh active members.
This achievement reflects the commitment of BJP workers and leaders in the state, he claimed while addressing a press conference at the party's state headquarters here.
"Under the leadership of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule and working president Ravindra Chavan, the organisational phase of the party has seen success. The BJP's primary membership figure has crossed 1.5 crore mark. Seventy percent of the party's booth committees have already been formed. The goal is to establish one lakh booth committees by April 22," he informed.
Each booth will have 12 members, resulting in a team of 12 lakh active workers, Singh added.
Since January this year, party workers and office-bearers went door to door to achieve the target of 1.5 crore primary members, Chavan said.
"We have reached nearly 1.4 lakh active members and are now working towards the target of 3 lakh. Elections for all 1,196 mandal presidents across the state will be held on April 20 under the supervision of appointed observers. Following this, the next phase of the organisational exercise will begin on April 22 with the selection of new district presidents," he said.

The lawyer fell unconscious and was in hospital for some time, he said, adding that the incident is proof that the BJP-led government has &ldquo;failed to ensure the safety of women&rdquo;.
&ldquo;If a woman lawyer is not safe, what about the ordinary citizens? If Maharashtra has a full-time home minister, the administration should arrest the culprits and take strict action,&rdquo; he said.

MP Amol Kolhe, who belongs to the NCP (SP), said the incident of a woman lawyer being &ldquo;thrashed by 10-12 men is a blot on a progressive state like Maharashtra, which boasts of icons like Jijabai, Ahilyabai Holkar and Savitribai Phule&rdquo;.
There is a three-party government in the state, but instead of working for the people, the alliance leaders are busy fighting amongst themselves for power, he said, referring to the ruling coalition of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP.
The law and order situation has deteriorated, but a woman being mercilessly beaten up for complaining about noise pollution is a sign that criminals are ruling the roost, he said.
&ldquo;The chief minister, who also holds the home department, should take a serious note of this incident and at least act to restore the belief that the home ministry exists,&rdquo; Kolhe added.

Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital came under fire after it allegedly denied admission to a pregnant woman, Tanisha Bhise, over non-payment of a deposit of Rs 10 lakh in the last week of March.
The woman died at another hospital after giving birth to twin daughters.
Asked by reporters about the earlier adverse reports against the Mangeshkar hospital, Chakankar said, "Three reports have been submitted to the government.
The final report by the Sassoon Hospital team is to be submitted tonight. A case will be registered once the fourth report is submitted. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has assured me that strict action will be taken in the case."
Dr Eknath Pawar too said the report would be submitted by Tuesday night. "It took a little longer as each and every line is extremely important," he said.

Naik also informed reporters that he has written to Reliance Industries' Anant Ambani to start 'Suryatara' project in Maharashtra on the lines of the latter's 'Vantara' initiative in neighbouring Gujarat. Vantara, spread over 3000 acres in RIL's Jamnagar refinery complex, is a state-of-the-art animal rescue and rehabilitation centre.
"If it works out, land has been earmarked in Thane. The project is under consideration," Naik said.
During the press conference, Naik informed about deliberations to use degraded forest land to set up solar power plants and the plan of the social forestry department to plant trees along the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway.
"There are plans to include drones and helicopters to douse forest fires and prevent them. New weapons (for enforcement of forest laws) and drones will be purchased for the forest department. Various efforts are underway to prevent man-animal conflict," he added.

He said prominent regions and cities of Maharashtra are emerging as hubs in different sectors and this will address the issue of regional imbalance.
Speaking at the ''India Global Forum Next" event in Mumbai, Fadnavis maintained Maharashtra is ensuring smooth and uninterrupted facilities for investors, and an ecosystem is being created to attract investment across all regions of the state.
As a result, a balanced development will be seen throughout Maharashtra over the next five years, he insisted.
Fadnavis underlined that the state is creating new investment opportunities and supporting the global supply chain.
"The state is also leading in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in India. In addition, many major national and international companies are already operating in Maharashtra," the CM noted.
Four river-linking projects worth approximately Rs 3 lakh crore are being implemented to make the state drought-free, and a canal-based irrigation venture in Vidarbha is also underway, he said.
To meet the workforce demands of industries, a dedicated Skill University is functional, ensuring there was no shortage of trained manpower in the state, Fadnavis emphasised.
The Mahayuti government is encouraging setting up of industries based on green and smart technologies, he stated.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), spread across the financial capital and its adjoining districts, will play a significant role in making Maharashtra a USD 3 trillion economy. The MMR alone has the capacity to build a USD 1.5 trillion economy, the CM noted.
The metropolis is already India's fintech capital, and a "Third Mumbai" is being developed in Navi Mumbai, Fadnavis said.
This new area (Third Mumbai) will include an EduCity and an Innovation City. Five universities are already in final stages of planning to set up their campuses in the proposed EduCity, he highlighted.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport is nearing completion, and the Atal Setu, a 21.8km-long sea bridge connecting Sewri (Mumbai) and Nhava Sheva (Navi Mumbai), has significantly improved connectivity to the upcoming airport and surrounding areas, Fadnavis averred.
The country's largest port is being developed at Vadhavan (in Palghar district) and it will be connected via the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, facilitating the development of a "Fourth Mumbai" in that region, he said.
Alongside the development of MMR, equal emphasis is being placed on rural and underdeveloped regions -- Pune is a major hub for the automobile industry, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar is emerging as a centre for the electric vehicle sector and Gadchiroli is set to rise as India's new steel hub, the CM pointed out.
The Vidarbha region is expanding rapidly in solar energy production and the 700-km-long Samruddhi Expressway will benefit farmers and entrepreneurs across 15 districts, he said.
The Goa-Nagpur Shaktipeeth corridor will provide a boost to infrastructure and industrial development of Marathwada in central Maharashtra, Fadnavis emphasised.

Gandhi also pointed out a statistical inconsistency, stating that Maharashtra's adult population, as per government records, stood at 9.54 crores, while the Election Commission's data indicated a higher number of registered voters than the total adult population.&nbsp;
"According to the government, the adult population of Maharashtra is 9.54 crores. According to the Election Commission, there are more voters in Maharashtra than people in the state. Somehow, voters were suddenly added in Maharashtra," he remarked.
Further, he noted that the number of votes received by Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP-SCP remained consistent across both elections. "We got the same amount of votes. Congress vote in Lok Sabha 2024 in a constituency is 1.36 lakh votes and in Vidhan Sabha, we get 1.34 lakh," he said.&nbsp;
However, he pointed out that 35,000 new voters were added in certain constituencies, which helped the BJP secure victory in the Assembly elections.&nbsp;
"BJP in Lok Sabha gets 1.9 lakh votes, and then in Vidhan Sabha, they get 1.75 lakh votes. Most of those voters who provided the BJP their victory come from those 35,000 new voters who have been added. It is the case in multiple constituencies," he asserted.
Gandhi demanded that the Election Commission provide the voter lists for both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.&nbsp;

On Tuesday, Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora urged the government to swiftly deport Bangladeshis residing illegally in the state to ensure "Mumbai's safety."&nbsp;
Deora stated, "I have written a letter to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra and urged that wherever any Bangladeshi is living illegally, should be deported as soon as possible. The incident that happened at Saif Ali Khan's house is very worrying."&nbsp;
He added that an audit of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants across the state was essential to "make Mumbai more safe" and called for strict action against agencies that fail to verify documents before hiring individuals.
The urgency followed an incident where actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in the thoracic spine by an intruder, identified as Mohd Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national.&nbsp;
The intruder reportedly entered Khan's home with the intent to steal. Khan was rushed to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for treatment and was discharged on Tuesday, returning home.
In a separate legal development, three Bangladeshi nationals were sentenced to prison and fined by Mumbai's 8th Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) after being found guilty of illegally entering India and living with forged documents.&nbsp;
The verdict, issued by Addl CJM Kanchan Zanwar, was based on evidence provided by the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police.
