The former Chief Minister's remarks, made during a media interaction in Mahoba, highlighted what he sees as the state's failure to create long-term job prospects, relying instead on temporary employment schemes.&nbsp;
Yadav further alleged that hundreds of attendees remain unaccounted for following the Maha Kumbh, suggesting negligence in handling the event's logistics.
"Around 900 people are still reported missing according to government data, with posters seeking information about them still displayed around Prayagraj, notably outside police stations and hospitals," he noted.
Turning his attention to future political contests, Yadav predicted a significant defeat for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
According to him, the BJP continues to grapple with their losses in the Lok Sabha elections and faces a united front from the 'PDA samaj'&mdash;a coalition Yadav aims to cement among Pichhda (backwards), Dalit, and Alpsankhyak (Muslim) communities.
He expressed concerns that the BJP might employ an "80:20" strategy to fragment the 'PDA' alliance, attempting to drive a wedge between these communities.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said his government acted swiftly to control the situation after the January 29 stampede at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, ensuring timely medical aid for victims while preventing widespread panic.
Addressing a gathering of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Postal Service officials in Lucknow, Adityanath said, "We did not allow the incident to be excessively highlighted, as eight crore devotees and sadhus were present in Prayagraj and the Kumbh Mela area at the time, and panic could have worsened the situation."
At least 30 devotees were killed and 60 others injured in the stampede at the Sangam ghat on Mauni Amavasya, a key bathing day of the Maha Kumbh.
Adityanath noted that apart from millions of devotees, seers and sadhus from 13 Akhadas were also scheduled to take the ritualistic 'Amrit Snan' (holy dip) that morning.
He explained that two major challenges often arise in such events -- determining the bathing order among the Akharas, which has historically led to disputes, and ensuring the ritual proceeds smoothly at the scheduled time of 4 AM.
Despite the tragedy, all Akhadas were prepared to go ahead with the 'snan', but the administration intervened to postpone the event.
"I personally requested them to delay the ritual to manage the situation," Adityanath said, adding that officials closely monitored the crowd, evacuated the Sangam area by noon, and ensured the 'snan' resumed by 2:30 PM.
He underscored the importance of effective crisis management, stating, "In difficult situations, many people panic and give up, but we must develop the strength to make firm decisions with patience and control."
The chief minister also emphasised the importance of effective coordination among stakeholders, including devotees, sadhus and administrative officials.
"I personally initiated dialogues to maintain order and ensure smooth execution of the event," he said.
The Maha Kumbh, held once every 12 years, attracts millions of pilgrims from across the world, making crowd management a critical challenge for authorities. This year, over 66 crore pilgrims attended the religious event, according to the Uttar Pradesh government.

In a post on X, he said, &ldquo;Respected Prime Minister, it is the result of your successful guidance that the 'Maha Yagya of Unity, Equality, Harmony' Maha Kumbh-2025, Prayagraj has been concluded today by setting new standards of security, cleanliness and good governance along with grandeur and divinity.&rdquo;

Adityanath praised the significance of the event, noting, the festival of humanity is binding the entire world in the thread of unity with the sentiment of &lsquo;Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam&rsquo;.

Adityanath later offered prayers to the Ganga in Prayagraj on the successful completion of Maha Kumbh 2025.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak and Minister Swatantradev Singh, Minister Nand Gopal Gupta were also present.
Adressing an event in Prayagraj to distribute certificates to sanitation workers and health workers, he acknowledged the pivotal role played by various departments in the success of the Kumbh.
"In order to convert this truly grand and divine Kumbh into a global event as per the wishes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I heartily congratulate and welcome all the sanitation workers, health workers, transport department staff, as well as those associated with this entire campaign for maintaining security and the continuous flow of water," he added.
The chief minister emphasised the importance of teamwork in achieving the successful outcome. When any work is done with team spirit, its results are good as we have seen in Prayagraj Maha Kumbh, he said.
He also extended his gratitude to the Prayagraj Mela Authority, administrative officers, and police personnel, stating, "Prayagraj Mela Authority, administrative officers, and police officers have proved that if there is even a little political will and the right support, any result can be achieved, and the result has come in front of us today in this form."
Appreciating the residents of Prayagraj, he said, "I would also like to congratulate the people of Prayagraj who, in the last two months, without any hesitation, considered this entire event as their own."
He also praised the residents of Uttar Pradesh for their warm hospitality.
The Maha Kumbh that began on January 13 in Prayagraj concluded on February 26.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday likened the massive Maha Kumbh congregation to the newly awakened consciousness of a nation breathing freely after breaking the shackles of a slavery mindset.&nbsp;
"The Maha Kumbh has concluded. The 'mahayagna' of unity has concluded," he wrote in a blog, a day after the mega religious exercise concluded.
PM Modi said more devotees than were ever imagined took the holy dip in Sangam, asserting that India is now forging ahead with new energy and that this points to a change of era which will write a new future for India.&nbsp;
The prime minister offered apology to "Mother Ganga, Mother Yamuna, Mother Saraswati" as well as people, who he said are a form of God to him, for any shortcoming in the services rendered.
He noted that making such a massive arrangement was not easy. At least 30 devotees had died during a stampede at the Maha Kumbh, which drew devotees in huge numbers from across the country.&nbsp;
The Uttar Pradesh government has said that over 65 crore people visited the sacred site in Prayagraj since the Maha Kumbh began on January 13.&nbsp;
In his blog, Modi praised Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, saying as an MP from Uttar Pradesh he can proudly say that the government, administration and people collectively under Adityanath's leadership made this "Maha Kumbh of unity" successful.&nbsp;
Everyone, be it sanitation staff, police personnel, boatmen, drivers and cooks, made it a success by working relentlessly with a sense of devotion and service, he said, praising residents of Prayagraj as well.&nbsp;
He asserted that what has never happened in the past few decades happened this time. "It has laid the foundation for many coming centuries," he added.&nbsp;
The number of devotees who reached Maha Kumbh has definitely made a record, he said, adding that people almost double the US population in numbers took the holy dip.&nbsp;
The administration had made its estimate based on the experience of previous Kumbhs, he said, noting that the real numbers turned out to be more than imagined.&nbsp;
The prime minister said it was a very pleasant experience for him to see young devotees attending the holy congregation in large numbers.&nbsp;
"This boosts the faith that India's young generation is the carrier of our values and culture, and understand its responsibility in taking it forward. They are committed to it," he said.

Chimes of cymbals, holy chants and kaleidoscopic colours of India fused into each other at the Triveni Sangam, as pilgrims from various parts of the country converged at the holy confluence site on Mahashivratri to take a dip on the last day of the Maha Kumbh here.
Maha Kumbh, the spectacle that takes place once in 12 years, began on January 13 (Paush Purnima) and saw grand processions of Naga Sadhus and three 'Amrit Snans'. The mega religious gathering has drawn a record over 64 crore pilgrims so far.
Being the last auspicious 'snan' of the Maha Kumbh, a large number of devotees had begun to gather on the banks of the Sangam from close to midnight, and while some camped and waited patiently to take the dip at 'Brahma Muhurt', scores of them performed the bathing rituals much before the appointed time.
Among them were four friends from West Bengal's Siliguri, who wore matching bright yellow dhoti before heading to the ghat for the bathing ritual.
Akash Pal, who works at an MNC, Abhijeet Chakraborty, a content writer, Raja Sonwani, who works on pharmaceutical sector, and Abhishek Pal, a lawyer, have diverse careers, but united in their desire to celebrate the festival of "Mahashivratri at the Maha Kumbh"
"We are friends and we travelled from West Bengal to Prayagraj in a car and then from the point where a vehicle was not allowed, we walked to reach the Sangam. It feels amazing to be part of this spectacular gathering and more so on this auspicious day," Akash Pal told PTI.
All four of them carries a saffron colour container to collect Ganga Jal back home.
Pilgrims from West Bengal had also come from places like Durgapur and Cooch Behar.
Also, chants of 'Jai Ganga Maiyya', 'Har Har Mahadev', 'Sita Ram' filled the air, complemented with sweet chimes of cymbals played by many devotees.
Billed as the world's largest spiritual gathering on earth, the mega religious festival on its last day attracted pilgrims not only from all four corners of the country, but also from neighbouring Nepal.
Four teenagers from Nepal, along with three other members, took the holy dip to celebrate Mahashivratri.
Manish Mandal, Rabbj Mandal, Arjun Mandal and Dipak Sahni and his uncle Domi Sahni wore matching Lord Shiva themed tunics while the three youths also sported a "gamcha' bearing 'Mahakal' on it.
"We are from Janakpur in Nepal, a place associated with Mata Sita. Our city is famous for Janaki Temple too. And, after the holy dip, we will be going to Ayodhya for darshan of Lord Ram," Sahni told PTI.
The members of the group from Nepal travelled first to Jayanagar from their home town and then a train of Indian Railways to reach Prayagraj.
"From Ayodhya again, we will go back to Jayanagar and then to Janakpur, after having seen both Kumbh and Ayodhya," Sahni said.
Many pilgrims also said they were drawn to this Kumbh Mela because of the "144 factor", a claim made by certain quarters that this mega religious festival is taking place at a time of some rare planetary alignment.
Pilgrims also came from Karnataka, Bihar, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, covering literally the length and breadth of the country.
As pilgrims milled around and took the holy dip at various ghats at or near the confluence site, security personnel kept a vigilant eye, not allowing crowding at any place for long duration, as they sought to manage the sea of pilgrims pouring into the mela grounds.
Huge gateways have been built at the Maha Kumbh Mela area, such as Nandi Dwar and Sangam Dear.
The top of the Sangam Dwar near the confluence site, carries an image each of Maa Ganga, Maa Yamuna and Maa Saraswati.
Several pilgrims while walking on way to the Sangam stopped by briefly to take a picture with this gateway.
Many devotees came to the Mela wearing saffron clothes while several others chanted the name of Lord Shiva and raised their hands in air.

Devotees are advised to bathe at specific ghats based on their route of entry. For those arriving via Dakshini Jhunsi, Arail Ghat is designated for bathing, while those coming from Uttari Jhunsi should use Harishchandra Ghat and Old GT Ghat. Entrants from Pande Kshetra are directed to several ghats, including Bharadwaj and Nagavasuki. Visitors from the Arail sector are also guided to Arail Ghat.
In addition, devotees are encouraged to offer prayers at nearby Shiva temples to avoid congestion at major pilgrimage sites. Efforts to manage the crowds include controlling access via pontoon bridges based on density.

"The Maha Kumbh has turned into 'Mrityu Kumbh' under the BJP's rule," she declared. She also criticized the disparity between the treatment of the wealthy and ordinary attendees, claiming that VIPs could access tents priced up to Rs 1 lakh, while basic facilities were not provided for the less fortunate.

He compared the drastic increase in the number of devotees visiting Ayodhya, stating, "In 2016-17, when there was no BJP government in the state, the number of devotees coming to Ayodhya was only 2 lakh 35 thousand, and in 2024, this number is more than 14 to 15 crore devotees. To manage the increased passenger traffic during the Mahakumbh, Northern Railway has introduced four special trains. These trains will ensure smooth travel for devotees and passengers, following routes designed to accommodate the surge in demand.&nbsp;

According to officials, the total number of pilgrims at the Mela grounds has now reached 38.83 million, while over 10 million Kalpavasis have been residing in the area. Since the festival began, more than 462.5 million devotees have taken the holy dip as of February 11, 2025. The footfall is expected to increase further, with several significant bathing dates still ahead.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar provided insights into the security and management strategies for the fifth snan of the Mahakumbh. He acknowledged the lessons learned from an incident during Mauni Amavasya and emphasized the implementation of improved safety measures.
"This is the 5th snan of Maha Kumbh 2025... The Snan of Maha Shivratri will take place after this... A mishap took place on Mauni Amavasya. We learnt a lesson from it and implemented new techniques. There is a management technique of 'Build back better'...We took the community's feedback to improve ourselves and implemented new techniques," he stated.
DGP Kumar further revealed that between 46 to 47 crore people have visited the Mahakumbh so far, with over 1.3 crore devotees taking a dip on Magh Purnima alone. "More than 1.3 crore devotees took a dip till 10 am today. Approximately 46 to 47 crore people have visited the MahaKumbh till now. We are also focused on places like Chitrakoot, Mirzapur Vindhyanchal temple, Vishwanath corridor and Ayodhya because of the huge number of devotees visiting there," he added.
To enhance monitoring and crowd control, authorities have set up a war room in Lucknow, providing live surveillance of Prayagraj Kshetra. "We have made a war room in Lucknow where get a live feed of the Prayagraj Kshetra... More than 2500 cameras are active. We receive the live feed in the ICCC in Prayagraj... New crowd management techniques have given positive results and things are running smoothly even amid the huge crowd," Kumar stated.
Addressing concerns about a stampede at the Mahakumbh, the DGP clarified that the incident was not due to administrative failure but rather an overwhelming turnout of devotees. "It is not an administrative lapse but an overwhelming response of the people... Earlier people were coming by buses and trains, now they are coming by their cars. The mode of transport of the people has changed. A lot of people did not come in the beginning thinking that now there would be less crowd but Kumbh gained so much popularity that people from all over the world are still coming here... On main Snan days, more than 5 lakh people are travelling by around 400 trains," he explained.
Additionally, Kumar warned against misinformation being spread online, mentioning that fake videos falsely attributed to the Mahakumbh were being circulated on social media. "Some people circulated videos of other places claiming them to be from Kumbh. A video of a police lathi charge was circulated but it was from another place...We have registered an FIR against such people," he said.

According to the statement, Mauni Amavasya saw the highest footfall of devotees as 8 crore people took a dip that day. Meanwhile, 3.5 crore people participated in the amrit snan on Makar Sankranti and 2.57 crore devotees on Basant Panchami.
President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were among the prominent political leaders who took a holy dip at Sangam.
Meanwhile, Bollywood actors Anupam Kher, Olympic medalist Saina Nehwal, cricketer Suresh Raina and Wrestler Khali were among the prominent personalities who took part in the Maha Kumbh, the statement added.

A group of 68 Hindu devotees from Sindh province in Pakistan has arrived at the Maha Kumbh, drawn by the allure of the sacred gathering they've seen on social media. For nearly 50 of them, this marks their first experience of the Maha Kumbh. Gobind Ram Makhija, one of the visitors, expressed their anticipation, explaining that ever since they heard about the event a few months ago, they've been eager to participate.
Recounting a previous pilgrimage, Makhija mentioned that a group of 250 Pakistanis visited Prayagraj last year for the holy dip in the Ganga. This time, the visitors are from six districts in Sindh: Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Karzakot, and Jatabal, many of whom are experiencing the Maha Kumbh for the first time.
Makhija shared his joy in being part of the event, stating, "This is an incredible experience. Tomorrow, we will take a dip in the Ganga. Being here makes me proud to have been born into Sanatan Dharma." Surbhi, a student from Ghotki, is visiting India for the first time and expressed her excitement about deepening her understanding of her religion. Priyanka from Sindh, a homemaker, described her visit as the greatest blessing of her life, noting the portrayal of Hindus in Sindh doesn't match her experience.
Niranjan Chawla, a construction worker from Sukkur, commented on the Citizenship Amendment Act, explaining that while Sindh does not face significant challenges, areas like Pakistan's Rajasthan do. Chawla highlighted the lengthy visa process, urging simplification. He appreciated the smooth visa approval granted to their group this time, expressing gratitude to the Indian government.
The group plans to visit Raipur on February 8, followed by Haridwar, where they will immerse ashes of their deceased loved ones. They will also visit Akharas in the evening to seek blessings and explore the fair.
The Maha Kumbh, ongoing since January 13, will run until February 26. Two significant bathing dates remain: February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and February 26 (Mahashivratri). By Thursday noon, over 57 lakh pilgrims had participated, with nearly 39 crore people having taken the holy bath, as reported by the Uttar Pradesh government hosting the event.

King Wangchuck, who arrived in Lucknow on Monday, was greeted with cultural performances by local artistes. He then visited Raj Bhavan, where he was hosted by Governor Anandiben Patel.&nbsp;
During this visit, he paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi's statue. The King, the Governor, and the Chief Minister had detailed discussions about India-Bhutan relations. The state government expressed that the visit would strengthen the cultural ties and friendship between India and Bhutan.
In December 2024 and March 2024, King Wangchuck and Queen of Bhutan had previously visited Delhi. Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded Bhutan's highest civilian honor, the 'Order of Druk Gyalpo'.
By 12 noon on Tuesday, more than 54 lakh devotees had taken part in the Maha Kumbh, with the total number of devotees who have participated since January 13 reaching over 37.5 crore. The Maha Kumbh will conclude on February 26.
