Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a critical meeting with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners on Wednesday in New Delhi following the BJP's success in the recent Lok Sabha elections. However, despite winning 240 seats, the BJP fell short of a majority, making the support of its allies crucial for government formation.
Now that the BJP allies are in a make or break position, they are reportedly negotiating plum posts for support in forming the government.&nbsp;
According to India Today, Chandrababu Naidu, leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), is reportedly vying for the position of Lok Sabha Speaker, in addition to demanding several cabinet berths for his party.&nbsp;
Similarly, Nitish Kumar, head of the Janata Dal (United), another crucial kingmaker is pushing for three significant cabinet positions.&nbsp;
As the BJP navigates these demands, the allocation of ministerial positions will be crucial in maintaining a cohesive and effective government moving forward. The outcome of these negotiations will significantly shape the political landscape and governance strategies in Modi's next term.

Hours after Bharatiya Janata Party's Maharashtra unit held a meeting in the state to discuss the Lok Sabha election results, state deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in a press briefing offered to step down from the position in the government.
Fadnavis said, he takes responsibility for the party's poor show in the state where it party won nine Lok Sabha seats in the state, where its tally dwindled by 14 as compared to the 2019 parliamentary polls.
In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had won 23 seats in Maharashtra.
Significantly, Fadnavis' move comes hours after Amol Mitkari --NCP MLA and aide of Ajit Pawar claimed that the party was sidelined during the election campaign in the state.
Mitkari made big claims during a telephonic conversation with News18.
This time, the BJP and allies won 17 seats out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in the state, with the BJP's tally dwindling by less than half compared to 2019, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) of Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) won 30 of the 48 seats.
The BJP-led NDA fell significantly short of its target of bagging 45-plus seats in Maharashtra, garnering just 17 seats.

The Press Trust of India citing sources on Tuesday said, Bihar Chief Minister and JD(U) president Nitish Kumar will on Wednesday take part in the NDA meeting scheduled in the national capital.
Kumar, whose party is set to grab 12 out of the state's 40 seats, will be leaving for Delhi in the morning.

Chandrashekhar is currently trailing by 15759 votes against Shashi Tharoor.
Earlier in the day, speaking to reporters, the Union Minister said, "...It is too early to analyse that...we campaigned extremely positively. There were dynamics of certain minority communities and certain narratives that were put out there by parties...maybe we were not able to break through or express...we are very happy and excited (Suresh Gopi leading from Thrissur)...it marks a very important milestone in the growth and expansion of BJP in Kerala and South India...".
During the initial hours of counting, the fight between Chandrasekhar and Tharoor was neck-and-neck with each taking a lead of a few thousand votes.
By noon, the BJP leader gained a healthy lead of around 24,000 votes over Tharoor, who is hoping to win a fourth time from Thiruvananthapuram LS seat.
However, more than an hour later, Tharoor took back the lead from Chandrasekhar by a margin of 11,815 votes.&nbsp;

The BJP's Hema Malini is leading in Mathura while Arun Govil is trailing in Meerut.
Former Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's son Karan Bhushan Singh is leading by 82,236 votes over SP's Bhagat Ram in Kaiserganj.
Brij Bhushan was denied a ticket by the party this time and his son was given a chance due to the controversy due to women wrestlers' allegations of sexual harassment against them.
Senior BJP leaders Smriti Irani, Ajay Mishra Teni and Maneka Gandhi were trailing in the Amethi, Kheri, and Sultanpur while Anupriya Patel of the Apna Dal(S) is leading in the Mirzapur constituency.
