Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari on Sunday evening sought to dispel speculation about Kamal Nath&rsquo;s possible switch to BJP, claiming that the senior Congress leader had told him that he was not going anywhere.
&ldquo;The BJP misuses the media and questions the integrity of a person and this has come to light. I had a talk with Kamal Nath ji who told me that the reports floating in the media were part of a conspiracy. He told me that he was a Congressman and will remain in Congress,&rdquo; Patwari told PTI.
&ldquo;His relationship with the Gandhi family is unshakable. He has lived with the ideology of Congress and will remain with it till the end. This is what he told me,&rdquo; the Congress leader said.
Asked why Nath was not himself putting forth his side, Patwari said that the former MP chief minister would speak at the right time. &ldquo;What I said was on his behalf,&rdquo; he claimed.
Nath and his son and Chhindwara MP Nakul Nath arrived in the national capital on Saturday afternoon, while Nakul Nath dropped Congress from his bio on social media. Around half a dozen Madhya Pradesh MLAs loyal to Kamal Nath reached Delhi on Sunday, accentuating the speculation that the father-son duo was set to join the ruling BJP.
In MP capital Bhopal, Nath&rsquo;s Congress colleague Digvijaya Singh expressed confidence that his &ldquo;old friend&rdquo; won't forsake the party from where he began his political journey.&nbsp;

VO: Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on February 19th refuted speculations that former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath will leave the party and join BJP.
"I am constantly in touch with Kamal Nath, the Congress leadership is having discussions with him. A person like him, who started with Congress, whom we all considered to be the third son of Indira Gandhi, has always supported Congress and has been a pillar of the Congress party," said Singh.
"[Nath was the cabinet minister in the Centre, State Congress Committee President and Chief Minister. He got all the posts. I don't think he will leave the party," Singh added.

After a massive defeat at the hands of BJP in MP, Congress is reportedly considering sacking party's state chief Kamal Nath from his post. The party leadership is said to be upset over Nath's remarks against INDIA bloc leaders.

Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Kamal Nath is likely to meet party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday and may tender his resignation from the post following the party's debacle in the assembly elections, sources said.
Winning 163 seats, the BJP got two-third majority in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh assembly, while the Congress bagged 66 seats. The polls were held last month and votes counted on Sunday.
Nath is likely to meet Kharge on Tuesday and could be asked to resign as party state unit chief, the sources said on Monday and added that the Congress leadership is also upset over Nath's remarks against many leaders of the INDIA bloc, including Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and JD(U) supremo Nitish Kumar, over seat sharing.
While the Samajwadi Party was asking for only four to six seats, the JD(U) only one seat in Madhya Pradesh, to which Nath did not agree and peeved the leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc, formed to take on the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
The sources said the Congress leadership is also reportedly upset over Nath not meeting party leaders and workers, but meeting Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday.&nbsp;

A video of an exchange between Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh has gone viral.&nbsp;
The conversation between the two during the manifesto launch for Madhya Pradesh has led BJP to claim that there is infighting in the Congress.&nbsp;
The video shows Kamal Nath speaking on stage during the launch and referring to an incident when he had asked party workers to 'tear Digvijaya Singh's clothes' if promises are not fulfilled.&nbsp;
Digvijaya Singh who was also on the stage is quick to reply and says 'who signs Form A and Form B? The state unit president. So whose clothes should be torn?'
Kamal Nath then goes on say that his relationship with Digvijaya Singh goes beyond politics. Nath added that he had once given Singh the 'power of attorney' to listen to abuses on his behalf.&nbsp;
Singh in replied said but it is important for people to know who made the mistakes.&nbsp;
Later, BJP posted a clip from the video and alleged that there is infighting in the Congress.&nbsp;
Digvijaya Singh however rubbished the allegations and said posted the entire clip.&nbsp;

Nath's comment came amid the exodus from Congress and four days after eight MLAs of the Grand Old Party from Goa switched allegiance to BJP.
“What are you thinking? Congress will finish? You are saying some people want to join the BJP. Whoever wants to join the BJP can go. We don't want to stop anyone,” the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister told reporters when asked about the exodus from Congress.
“If they (Congress leaders and officer-bearers) want to go …. see their future and their thoughts gel with BJP.....I would lend them my motor (car) to go and join BJP,” the Congress veteran said.
Nath said he didn't believe in placating anyone.
“People in Congress are working with dedication. There is no pressure on them from the party,” said the 75-year-old leader, a former MP and a longtime Gandhi family loyalist.
Nath's close aide Arunoday Choubey, a former MLA from Madhya Pradesh, resigned from the Congress recently.
He alleged BJP leaders were mounting pressure on Choubey against whom several cases were registered.
"Our people are being falsely implicated. Pressure and politics of influence are being played out. With such politics, you cannot buy someone's heart, mind and soul," he added.
