Star England batter Harry Brook disagreed with India coach Gautam Gambhir&rsquo;s decision to name him as Player of the Series, saying the honour should have gone to Joe Root for his prolific run in the five-Test series.
With the series ending 2-2, each team&rsquo;s coach selected one player from the opposition for the Player of the Series award.
While England head coach Brendon McCullum picked India captain Shubman Gill, Gambhir chose Brook as England&rsquo;s standout performer.
Brook played a destructive innings of 111 off 98 balls on the fourth day of the final Test, putting England on the brink of a record chase before the visitors collapsed, losing seven wickets for 66 runs to concede the match.
"I didn&rsquo;t score as many runs as Rooty (Joe Root), so I probably think he should be Man of the Series&mdash;and Man of the Summer again, like he has been for many years," Brook told the BBC.
"I think we&rsquo;re in a great place. Obviously, it has been an awesome series. 2-2, I didn&rsquo;t think it was going to be like this, to be honest." While Brook scored 481 runs at an average of 53.44, Root amassed 537 runs at an average of 67.12 across nine innings in the five-match series.

On Ollie Pope's match winning 196 in the opening Test, Root added: "Ollie went out and probably played one of the best overseas innings you'll see in these conditions, especially against that attack on that surface.
"The more time we spend in these conditions, hopefully, we can continue to familiarize ourselves and keep that calmness about how we go about things.
"But also, when the chances are there and when the time's right, we can keep applying pressure and then try to attack at the right moment."

"He is England's best batsman there's ever been in all formats &ndash; but he does struggle sometimes with the tempo of this Bazball era," Cook, who is England's highest Test run-getter, said on 'TNT Sports' channel.
"He sees all these other people playing these aggressive shots, which suit their style. Rooty has got 11,500 Test runs, he's brilliant, but he's so desperate to fit into what Ben (Stokes) and Brendon (McCullum) are doing that sometimes I don't think he gets his balance of attack and defence right," the owner of 12,472 Test runs said.
Cook wants Root to play at his natural rate rather than ape other players, who are scoring at a quicker rate.
"He was on 16 off nine balls and he doesn't normally strike at that rate &ndash; he's normally striking at 75 to 80, which is still incredibly high for a Test match strike-rate, with zero risk.
"That's when I love watching Joe Root bat." Cook feels that if Root gets his first 15 runs, he is always in line to get a hundred, something that didn't seem likely on Monday in Visakhapatnam.
"When he gets in, you call it early &ndash; I've called it early a few times on sub-continent days: he's on 15 but he's getting a hundred here.
"He's going to milk them at his will, sweeps, all in control. I don't think he was in that control," he observed.
