A doctor of the Ranchi hospital where Vivek died said that he had consumed pesticide and was admitted to the medical establishment.

Jharkhand&rsquo;s Sindri MLA Indrajeet Mahto&rsquo;s 29-year-old son Vivek Kumar Mahto died on Monday after allegedly consuming pesticide, police said.
The deceased, who was staying in Delhi and preparing for competitive examinations, had returned to Silli, around 65 km from Ranchi, a few days back and was staying with one of his friends, a police officer said.
His father and Sindri&rsquo;s BJP MLA has been ill for a long time and is undergoing treatment in a hospital in Hyderabad.
&ldquo;As per information received, Vivek Kumar Mahto consumed pesticide on Sunday morning. He was first taken to a private hospital in Muri and was later referred to another medical establishment in Ranchi, where he died on Monday,&rdquo; Silli police station in-charge Akashdeep told PTI.
He said Vivek might have been suffering from depression and it seems to be a case of suicide but further investigation is underway.

 A Jharkhand Congress MLA on Wednesday grabbed eyeballs by sitting in a pool of muddy water on a stretch of a national highway in Godda district, protesting against its "poor condition" and demanding immediate repair work of the road.
Deepika Pandey Singh, the legislator from Mahagama, also poured muddy water all over her, and vowed that she would not budge unless repair efforts are undertaken to fill up the "large potholes".
"I don't want to get involved in the fight between the state government and the Centre... This is NH-133 and authorities had taken the responsibility to widen this stretch in May 2022, but the Centre does not provide funds for repair of this highway... Under the given circumstances, I would request the chief minister to get it done as people are facing hardships," she said.
Singh claimed she had been demanding that repair be undertaken of the stretch of the highway for long, but assembly committee officials did not visit the spot.
She also criticised Godda MP Nishikant Dubey in a tweet, contending that "public representatives can understand the plight of people if they come and sit here". In response, Dubey took to Twitter and said: "The Congress MLA from Mahagama is sitting on a dharna against Chief Minister Hemant Soren... This highway is maintained by the Road Construction Department and the Centre has already allocated Rs 75 crore six months back for it." Singh, however, alleged that the central government has not provided any funds for its repair work.
"It's a blatant lie what Dubey is saying; the Centre has not allocated any money," she told PTI.
Officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Road Construction Department could not be reached for comments.

Jharkhand trust vote: ruling alliance MLAs camping in Raipur reach Ranchi

Fearing poaching of its MLAs by the Opposition BJP to topple the government, CM Hemant Soren's JMM-led alliance had shifted the legislators to a luxurious resort in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur.

At least 30 MLAs of the ruling JMM-Congress-RJD coalition in Jharkhand, who were camping at a resort near Raipur since August 30, arrived in Ranchi in a chartered aircraft on Sunday afternoon to attend a special session of the assembly, an official said.
"The chartered plane carrying the MLAs has landed at Ranchi airport," the airport official told PTI.
Fearing poaching of its MLAs by the opposition BJP to topple the government, Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance had shifted the legislators to a luxurious resort in Chhattisgarh's Nava Raipur.
The chartered aircraft with 30 legislators, and some other leaders of the JMM and Congress on board, took off from the Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur and landed at Birsa Munda Airport here around 6 pm, the official said.
Hemant Soren, against whom Opposition BJP has filed a disqualification petition over an office of profit case, will seek a vote of trust during the special session of the legislative assembly on Monday.

As per a letter sent to the MLAs by the Assembly Secretariat, the Chief Minister has expressed his willingness to move a motion of confidence to prove his majority.&nbsp;
The Opposition BJP has also convened its legislature party&rsquo;s meeting on Sept. 4 to chalk out its strategy in the House, party sources said.&nbsp;
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Alamgir Alam said, &ldquo;A state of confusion is prevailing in Jharkhand. Our delegation met the Governor [on Thursday] and he assured us to clear the air in a day or two. But nothing has happened till now. Therefore, we will raise our points in the Assembly and prove our majority.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Following a petition by the BJP seeking Mr Soren&rsquo;s disqualification from the Assembly in an office of profit case, the Election Commission (EC) sent its decision to Governor Ramesh Bais on August 25, sparking a political crisis in the State.&nbsp;
Though the EC&rsquo;s decision has not yet been made official, there is a buzz that the poll panel has recommended the Chief Minister&rsquo;s disqualification as an MLA.&nbsp;
The ruling UPA has asserted that disqualification of the CM as an MLA will not affect the government, as the JMM-Congress-RJD coalition enjoys an absolute majority in the 81-member House.&nbsp;
After a meeting with the UPA MLAs on September 1 on the issue, the Governor went to Delhi on Friday, triggering further speculation.&nbsp;
Raj Bhavan sources, however, said it was a &lsquo;personal visit&rsquo; for a medical check-up and he is likely to return to Jharkhand on Sunday.&nbsp;
In a joint statement on August 28, UPA constituents had accused Bais of encouraging political horse-trading by &ldquo;deliberately delaying&rdquo; announcing the decision.&nbsp;
Mr Soren&rsquo;s party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) believes that the BJP may make a serious attempt to poach MLAs from the party and also from the ally Congress in a bid to topple the government in a manner similar to Maharashtra.&nbsp;
To ringfence the legislators in a safe haven, as many as 32 MLAs of the ruling coalition were on August 30 taken to a resort in Raipur, the capital of Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh.&nbsp;
Four of them, however, returned to take part in a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, in which it was decided that a special session of the Jharkhand Assembly will be convened on September 5.&nbsp;
The JMM, the largest party, has 30 MLAs, the Congress 18 legislators, and the RJD one. The main Opposition BJP has 26 MLAs in the House.&nbsp;

The TMC also demanded that the role of Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari needs to be looked into in the light of the recovery of the money, as he had recently remarked that "after Maharashtra, it will be Jharkhand, Rajasthan and West Bengal." Acting on a tip-off, the West Bengal Police intercepted an SUV in Howrah on Saturday evening in which Congress MLAs of Jharkhand were travelling and allegedly found nearly half a crore of rupees in it. After questioning, they were formally arrested on Sunday afternoon.
The TMC’s statement came in the backdrop of the seizure of crores of rupees in cash by the ED from two flats of a woman, considered close to the now suspended senior TMC leader Partha Chatterjee. Both were arrested by the central agency in connection with the school jobs scam.
The Congress on Sunday alleged the BJP was trying to topple the JMM-led government in Jharkhand by offering Rs 10 crore to each MLA. “Bengal BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari had spoken about forming governments in non-NDA ruled states such as Jharkhand. We want an inquiry to check if the recovered money is part of the conspiracy to topple the democratically-elected Jharkhand government," TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said.
After a recent change of guard in Maharashtra, Adhikari had twice said that the JMM-led coalition government in Jharkhand and TMC dispensation in West Bengal, too, will meet a similar fate, and much before their tenure ends.
The BJP’s West Bengal unit dubbed the allegations as baseless.
"The BJP is in no way involved in it. We think the TMC was trying to smuggle out the illegal cash it had earned through the school recruitment scam," BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar said.

A senior officer of the probe agency alleged its officers were detained by Delhi Police on Wednesday when they were conducting a raid at a property belonging to an accused, a “close associate” of the three arrested legislators, in the national capital.
Three Congress MLAs from Jharkhand -- Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachchap and Naman Bixal Kongari -- were arrested by West Bengal Police after over Rs 49 lakh in cash was seized from a car in which they were travelling.
"On Wednesday morning, a team of West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers was restrained by Delhi Police from carrying out a search operation at a property of an accused person closely associated with one of the MLAs, despite having a court warrant," the officer told PTI.
The Delhi Police, which functions under the central government, later said it had provided all assistance to the CID team before it found certain "legal discrepancies" in the execution of the search warrant.
On the “detention” of the police personnel in Assam, the CID officer said talks are underway with authorities in the BJP-ruled northeastern state.
Four CID officers – an inspector, an ASI and two SIs -- were detained and restrained from conducting searches at the accused’s residence under South Campus Police Station area in New Delhi in spite of having a court warrant, he said.
The West Bengal government later sent a team of three senior officers to the national capital to resolve the matter, an official in the state’s Home Department said.
The Congress, which is a part of the JMM-led government in Jharkhand, has alleged that the BJP was trying to topple the Hemant Soren government by offering Rs 10 crore each and a ministerial berth to the MLAs.
The party has also named Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the alleged conspiracy.
The BJP, however, rejected the allegations claiming that the Congress was trying to hide its own corruption.
