Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the BJP does not want to erase Mughal history.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party does not want to erase India's Mughal past.
In an interview with the news agency ANI on 14 February 2023, Shah said that although his party is not trying to rewrite history, efforts to establish a national identity should not be opposed. He was speaking in reference to the renaming of cities and landmarks in many parts of India.
Responding to the allegation that his party has tried to erase the legacy of leaders belonging to the Nehru-Gandhi family, Shah said that if the charge was in reference to Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, then his party and its ideological parents and partners had opposed the move since the beginning.
He added that the point that Art 370 was bad for the country was proven by the development seen in Jammu and Kashmir since the removal of special status in 2019.

Citing an unverified news report, PM Modi said that 600 government schemes had been named after members of the Nehru-Gandhi family.

Speaking in the Rajya Sabha on the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that there are some sections which even raised objections to the names of government schemes. He said that some even took issue with the inclusion of Sanskrit words in the scheme names.
Citing an unverified news report, PM Modi said that 600 government schemes had been named after members of the Nehru-Gandhi family.
He also cited instances of Opposition leaders objecting to exclusion of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the ruling party's speeches. PM said that if there was an oversight, it would be fixed by the BJP.
He escalated the attack by asking why Congress leaders did not use the Nehru surname even though it belonged to an eminent personality.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Congress leader Siddaramaiah accused incumbent CM Basavaraj Bommai of being "a slave of RSS". Siddaramaiah accused Bommai of casteism for placing Ambedkar in the second row, and Savarkar in the first row.
Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the "unending hatred" for India's first Prime Minister has "reached its zenith".
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that Nehru will survive such "pettiness". He added that what CM Bommai has done is "an insult to his father SR Bommai and his political guru MN Roy" both of whom were "great Nehru admirers".
The BJP was unfazed by Congress' attacks. News agency PTI quoted State BJP General Secretary N Ravi Kumar as saying that Nehru was left out "intentionally".
Kumar said, "When we are observing 'Partition Horrors Remembrance Day' today on the call given by our prime minister, what is the point of using his photograph? Nehru was a person who did not heed Gandhi's call. He was responsible for Partition, which saw massive bloodshed of common people. So, we did not put his photograph."

A year later, the Associated Journals, which was a public limited company, published National Herald newspaper for the first time.
From chronicling India&rsquo;s independence movement to facing accusations of being a Congress mouthpiece, the publication shut shop in 2008 when the United Progressive Alliance was in power.
Two years later, the Congress in a bid to revive the defunct newspaper formed a not-for-profit company, called the Young India Ltd with UPA chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi owning the majority share.
The ostensible reason for setting up the new public company being the revival of the National Herald, the Congress argued that the resurrection was needed as the publication had played a significant role in the freedom movement.

So how did the Congress plan the revival of National Herald and why are the probe agencies calling it a scam.
Over a period of time, the grand old party had loaned Rupees 90 crore to the Associated Journals&mdash;just for a recap the entity Nehru founded to launch National Herald and Qaumi Awaz.
After its creation in 2010, the Congress transferred this loan to Young India Ltd-- recall Sonia and Rahul own majority share of this company.
As the Associated Journal was a ship at the bottom of a tumultuous sea, unsurprisingly it could not pay the debt.
The public company formed before the independence could only manage to transfer just Rupees 50 lakh to Sonia and Rahul&rsquo;s Young India ltd. But like the antiques hidden in a sunk ship are of great value, so were the Associated Journal&rsquo;s prime properties valuing over Rupees 2,000 crores in Delhi, Lucknow and Patna.
Young India ltd took over these assets, therefore Congress took over assets of the defunct firm which was a public limited company. Simply put the Enforcement Directorate argues that Congress shifted assets of a company owned by Indian public to Rahul and Sonia.
So how did the issue reach the court?
In 2012, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy filed a private complaint alleging fraud in the acquisition. The BJP leader said the loan given by Congress to Associated Journals was &lsquo;illegal&rsquo; as it was taken from party funds and the Income Tax Act prohibits political organisations from making financial transactions with a third party.
Even the Associated Journal shareholders, who were the descendants of freedom fighters, including former law minister Shanti Bhusan and former high court chief justice Markandey Katju alleged that they had no clue, neither were sent notice when Young India acquired Associated Journal.
A case was then registered and an inquiry opened up against Sonia Gandhi, her son Rahul Gandhi, their trusted aide Moti Lal Vohra, Suman Dubey, Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey and Oscar Fernandes.
However, the Congress too has a defence.
The grand old party maintains that the Young India was formed with the &lsquo;aim of charity&rsquo; and not for profit and that its transactions were not financial but &lsquo;commercial&rsquo; in nature.

Bose reportedly said that on an earlier occasion, PM Modi had said that Netaji Bose was the first Prime Minister of the Azad Hind government. He reportedly said that Jawaharlal Nehru should be considered first Prime Minister of divided, independent India.
 The latest instance of shining a limelight on Netaji comes after a tussle between the Bengal and Union governments. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had objected to exclusion of the state tableau which featured Bose from the Republic Day parade. The Centre had responded by saying that all tableaux can't be included in the parade and due procedure was followed to select those that made it to the final list. Subsequently, on January 23, which is Bose's birth anniversary, Prime Minister Modi unveiled a hologram of a statue of the freedom fighter at India Gate in Delhi. The hologram would soon be replaced by a granite statue.

Calling former Prime Ministers&nbsp;Jawaharlal Nehru&nbsp;and Atal Bihari Vajpayee&nbsp;"ideal leaders of Indian democracy," Union minister and senior&nbsp;BJP&nbsp;leader Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that those in the ruling party as well as those in the Opposition should "introspect" and act with dignity.

"Atalji&rsquo;s legacy is our inspiration and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru also had a big contribution to Indian democracy," the union minister said.

Calling former Prime Ministers&nbsp;Jawaharlal Nehru&nbsp;and Atal Bihari Vajpayee&nbsp;"ideal leaders of Indian democracy," Union minister and senior&nbsp;BJP&nbsp;leader Nitin Gadkari on Wednesday said that those in the ruling party as well as those in the Opposition should "introspect" and act with dignity.

Repeated disruptions led to a <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/after-abrupt-end-to-parliament-session-united-opposition-hits-streets-1628749996261" target="_blank">washout of the Monsoon session of Parliament</a>, with the Opposition protesting in both Houses over the three agricultural laws, rise in fuel prices and allegations relating to&nbsp;Pegasus&nbsp;spyware.
Recalling his years as Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly, Gadkari said there was a time when he led the charge in disrupting the House. At the time, former PM Atal&nbsp;Bihar Vajpayee&nbsp;had told him that this was no way to act in a democracy and that it was important to convey your message to the people.
