He made this tail-wagging announcement to celebrate October as Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, because what better time to shine a spotlight on our furry friends?
&lsquo;Krypto arrives on screens in Superman this summer,&rsquo; Gunn announced. He revealed that Krypto was inspired by his own rescue pup, Ozu, who joined the family just after he started writing the script. Ozu, who came from a hoarding situation with a whopping 60 other dogs, had never known a gentle human touch.
&nbsp;&lsquo;He immediately came in and destroyed our home, our shoes, our furniture - he even ate my laptop. It took a long time before he would even let us touch him. I remember thinking, 'Gosh, how difficult would life be if Ozu had superpowers?' - and thus Krypto came into the script &amp; changed the shape of the story as Ozu was changing my life. What better time to debut the not-so-good-good-boy Krypto than #AdoptAShelterDog month. Btw, Ozu today, is, fairly often, a very good boy,&rsquo; he wrote.
Krypto, the super-powered pup from Superman&rsquo;s home planet Krypton, has appeared in plenty of animated DC films but is finally getting his live-action debut!
He&rsquo;ll be soaring alongside David Corenswet&rsquo;s Man of Steel in Gunn&rsquo;s film next summer, and then he&rsquo;ll join Milly Alcock&rsquo;s Kara Zor-El in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, directed by Craig Gillespie, set to hit screens in June 2026.

James Gunn's Superman: Legacy has been given a new name. To mark Superman's birth, Gunn announced on Instagram that the DCU's inaugural film is now simply titled &lsquo;Superman.&rsquo;
The &lsquo;Guardians of the Galaxy&rsquo; maker said, &lsquo;When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.&rsquo;
Gunn also shared a picture of the Superman emblem from the film, previously labeled with the Legacy subtitle. The emblem was shown covered in snow, potentially hinting at a scene set in The Fortress of Solitude, Superman's icy hideaway.
The title &lsquo;Superman&rsquo; pays homage to the iconic 1978 film starring Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, directed by Richard Donner. The original film was known as &lsquo;Superman: The Movie.&rsquo;

Cameron&rsquo;s message reads, 'One of the things Peter &amp; I were aware of when we took the job as heads of DC Studios was a certain minority of people online that could be, well, uproarious &amp; unkind, to say the least. We were aware there would be a period of turbulence when we took this gig, &amp; we knew we would sometimes have to make difficult &amp; not-so-obvious choices, especially in the wake of the fractious nature of what came before us. But this means little to us in comparison to our jobs as artists &amp; custodians in helping to create a wide &amp; wonderful future for DC.'

Gal Gadot starrer 'Wonder Woman' won't have its third installment as the studio has scrapped the plans. As per reports, plans for the future films have been cancelled out by the newly appointed DC Universe heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran as the film does not fit their current vision.&nbsp;
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the writer and director of the previous films, Patty Jenkins delivered a script treatment co-written with Geoff Johns to the studio and was told that it did not fit the studio's vision for the future of the DC Universe. This news hasn't been officially announced by the studio though.&nbsp;
James Gunn and Peter Safran were appointed as Co-CEO of DC Studios in the beginning of this month.&nbsp;
This news also comes nearly a day after Gal Gadot shared a post celebrating 9 years of her being cast as the superhero. The 'Red Notice' actor took to Instagram and shared a photo of herself as Wonder Woman and wrote, 'On this day, a few years ago, it was first announced that I was going to play Wonder Woman.'
