Top actress Taraneh Alidoosti arrested by Iranian authorities over protests

In November, Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi, two other famous Iranian actresses, were arrested by authorities for expressing solidarity with protesters on social media.

Iranian authorities arrested one of the country's most renowned actresses on charges of spreading falsehoods about nationwide protests that grip the country, state media said.
The report by IRNA said Taraneh Alidoosti, star of the Oscar-winning movie &ldquo;The Salesman,&rdquo; was detained on Saturday, a week after she made a post on Instagram expressing solidarity with the first man recently executed for crimes allegedly committed during the protests.
The announcement is the latest in a series of celebrity arrests, that have included footballers, actors and influencers, in response to their open display of support for anti-government demonstrations now in their third month According to the report published on the state media's official Telegram channel, Alidoosti was arrested because she did not provide ''any documents in line with her claims.? It said that several other Iranian celebrities had also been summoned by the judiciary body over publishing provocative content, and that some had been arrested. It provided no further details.

In her post, the 38-year-old actress said: ''His name was Mohsen Shekari. Every international organization who is watching this bloodshed and not taking action, is a disgrace to humanity." Shekari was executed Dec. 9 after being charged by an Iranian court with blocking a street in Tehran and attacking a member of the country's security forces with a machete.

Voria Ghafouri, an Iranian soccer player, was also arrested last month for 'insulting the national soccer team and propagandizing against the government.&rdquo; All three have been released.

Iran&rsquo;s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei&rsquo;s niece Farideh Moradkhani has been reportedly arrested by the regime after calling on foreign governments to cut all ties with the Iranian government, The Guardian reported.
Confirming Moradkhani&rsquo;s arrest on Twitter, her brother, Mahmoud Moradkhani said she was arrested last week on Wednesday when she went to the prosecutor&rsquo;s office in response to a court order, it said.
Before Moradkhani was arrested, she allegedly recorded a video statement which was shared by her France-based brother on Friday. In the video Moradkhani had called on people around the world to urge their governments to &ldquo;stop any dealings with this regime.&rdquo;
The video is now doing rounds on social media.&nbsp;

According to multiple reports, Farideh and Mahmoud Moradkhani are the children of Ali Tehrani who was married to the supreme leader&rsquo;s sister Badri Hosseini Khamenei. He was a cleric and longtime opposition figure.&nbsp;

The sanctions imposed by United States on Iran will not impact India's development of Chabahar Port in the country, Washington has reportedly informed New Delhi through diplomatic channels on October 12. The Trump administration's assurance comes ahead of the India-US 2+2 ministerial meeting that begins on Monday, October 26. US Secretary of State Michael R Pompeo and Secretary of Defence Mark T Esper are slated to visit New Delhi to meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on October 26-27.
