A Punjab minister and an IPS officer posted in the state are set to tie the knot, according to the news agency PTI.
Punjab education minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Harjot Singh Bains and IPS officer Jyoti Yadav will get married by the end of March 2023, as per PTI.
Punjab Assembly Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on 12 March 2023 congratulated Bains and Yadav, who are "going to start a new journey of their lives in (the) coming days".
Jyoti Yadav is posted as superintendent of police in Mansa district, while Bains represents Anandpur Sahib constituency in the Assembly.
Hailing from Gurugram in Haryana, Yadav hogged the limelight last year after a public argument with AAP MLA Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, who accused the IPS officer of conducting a search operation in her assembly area without informing her. Yadav, who was then the assistant commissioner of police in Ludhiana, had told the Ludhiana South MLA that she was directed to conduct the search operation against anti-social elements by the police commissioner.
Since the AAP stormed to power in Punjab last year, Mann has tied the knot with Gurpreet Kaur. AAP MLAs Narinder Kaur Bharaj and Narinderpal Singh Sawana also got married during this time.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has moved the Madras High Court to initiate contempt proceedings against IPS officer G Sampath Kumar who was investigating the 2013 IPL betting and spot-fixing cases.&nbsp;
The CSK skipper has filed a contempt of court petition for Sampath&rsquo;s alleged statements against the Supreme Court and certain senior counsels in the matter pertaining to match-fixing. He is reportedly seeking Rs 100 crore in damages from the officer and a TV channel for making match-fixing allegations against him.
While the case was listed, it was not heard due to time constraints and is likely to be listed on Tuesday for hearing. As per an interim order passed on March 18, 2014, the court restrained Sampath Kumar from making any statement against Dhoni, linking him with match-fixing and spot-fixing. Despite the order, the IPS officer reportedly filed an affidavit before the Supreme Court containing disparaging remarks against the judiciary and the senior counsel representing the State in the cases against MS Dhoni.&nbsp;

Doval stated that &lsquo;people are the most important, and the new frontiers of war, what you call the fourth-generation warfare, is the civil society.&rsquo; He further added, &lsquo;Wars have ceased to become an effective instrument for achieving political or military objectives. They are too expensive or unaffordable and, at the same time, there is uncertainty about their outcome. &ldquo;But it is the civil society that can be subverted, subsumed, divided, manipulated to hurt the interests of a nation. You are there to see they stand fully protected,&rdquo;
Doval was the chief guest at the Dikshant Parade which is the culmination of the 46-week long phase-1 basic course training.
National Security Advisor, congratulated the 132 officer trainees of the IPS batch and 17 foreign police officers from Maldives, Bhutan and Nepal, and said &ldquo;You are for India and India is for you. Every other identity gets subsumed to this Indian identity,&rdquo;
He asked the new batch of officers to not only think of reforms to avoid repeating mistakes of the past but also be transformative to look at future challenges and find solutions in advance.
Doval further explained, &lsquo;Quintessence of democracy does not lie in the ballot box. It lies in the laws which are made by the people who are elected through these ballot boxes. You are the ones who are the enforcers of the law&hellip; Laws are only as good as they are executed and implemented and the service that people can get out of it and the success of democracy is in the enforcement of the laws.&rsquo;
He stated, people cannot feel safe and secure where law enforcers are weak, corrupt, and partisan. 'No nation can be built where the rule of law has failed.'
He reminded them that their responsibility includes not only the safety and security of 130 crore human beings but also the 32 lakh square kilometres of land area across the country. He wanted them to be trained and prepared for border management as well as challenges of highly specialised investigations in agencies such as the NIA or CBI.

Chhattisgarh police have filed a sedition case against an IPS officer, G P Singh.
Officials said during raids at his premises by the state's Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Economic Offences Wing (EOW), documents revealing GP Singh was allegedly involved in promoting enmity and hatching a conspiracy against the government and public representatives were found.
During the raid at the official residence of Singh, an Additional Director General (ADG) rank officer, some pieces of torn papers were found from the backyard of the house. When pieces of papers were rearranged, serious and sensitive contents were found to be written and typed on it, the FIR said.
He was suspended earlier this week in a disproportionate assets case. During a three day search, officers said they discovered movable and immovable assets worth around ₹ 10 crore.

Patna, PTI: Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey on Tuesday took voluntary retirement from service, triggering speculations that the outspoken officer would contest the coming state Assembly polls.
Pandey's request seeking voluntary retirement was approved by Governor Phagu Chauhan, a notification issued by the state home department said.
Director General (Homeguards) SK Singhal has been given additional charge of DGP, ADG (Headquarters) Jitendra Kumar told PTI.&nbsp;
Pandey, a 1987 batch IPS officer, was involved in the investigation of actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death by suicide in Mumbai.
He had recently been in the headlines for his stout defence of the Nitish Kumar administration when it was under attack from the Shiv Sena-led government in Maharashtra over Bihar Police's probe into the death of Rajput.&nbsp;
He had also courted controversy with his 'aukaat' remark on Rhea Chakraborty.
Bihar Assembly election is likely to be held in October-November.
Pandey had taken premature retirement to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2009, but later the state government did not accept his VRS application and reinstated him in the service.
