Amid the ongoing controversy over India's participation at the 2023 Asia Cup in Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said there will be no cricketing ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Speaking to AajTak over the weekend, Jaishankar said that India will never accept a country that sponsors terror and it will continue, if we don't delegitimise it.

He also stated that there will be no pressure on Pakistan unless the victims of terror voiced their struggles and India should lead the way because our blood has been spilled.
There has also been a war of words between BCCI and PCB recently
First, in October, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that India won't travel to host Pakistan for Asia Cup in 2023 and the tournament will be held at a neutral venue.
PCB chief Ramiz Raza retaliated, stating if India won't travel to Pakistan then they will also boycott 50-over World Cup in India next year.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan wants to have "permanent peace" with India through dialogue as war is not an option for either of the countries to resolve the Kashmir issue, according to a media report on Saturday.
Speaking to a delegation of students from Harvard University, Sharif also said that sustainable peace in the region was linked to the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions, The News International newspaper reported.
&ldquo;Pakistan resolves to maintain peace in the region, and that sustainable peace in the region was linked to the resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the UN resolutions,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;We want permanent peace with India through dialogue as war is not an option for either of the countries,&rdquo; he was quoted as saying in the report.
Relations between India and Pakistan have often been strained over the Kashmir issue and cross-border terrorism emanating from Pakistan.
However, the ties between the two countries nosedived after India abrogated Article 370 of the Constitution, revoking the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcating the state into two Union Territories on August 5, 2019.
India&rsquo;s decision evoked strong reactions from Pakistan, which downgraded diplomatic ties and expelled the Indian envoy.
India has repeatedly told Pakistan that Jammu and Kashmir &ldquo;was, is and shall forever&rdquo; remain an integral part of the country.
India has said it desires normal neighbourly relations with Pakistan in an environment free of terror, hostility and violence.
During the interaction, Sharif pointed out that Islamabad and New Delhi should have competition in trade, economy and improving the conditions of their people.

He said Pakistan was not an aggressor, but its nuclear assets and the trained army are deterrence, he said, adding that Islamabad spends on its military to protect their frontiers and not for aggression.
In response to a question about Pakistan's economy and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, the premier said that the country's economic crisis stem from structural problems along with political instability in the recent decades.
He said the first few decades since the inception of Pakistan witnessed impressive growth across all sectors of the economy when there were plans, national will and the implementation mechanism to produce outcomes.
&ldquo;Overtime, we lost the edge in sectors in which we were ahead. The lack of focus, energy and policy action led to reduction in national productivity,&rdquo; Sharif added.
Cash-starved Pakistan is facing growing economic challenges, with high inflation, sliding forex reserves, a widening current account deficit and a depreciating currency.
With the rising current account deficit at USD 13.2 billion in the first nine months and pressing external loan repayment requirements, Pakistan required financial assistance of USD 9-12 billion till June 2022 to avert further depletion of foreign currency reserves.
As Pakistan turned 75 on August 14, Sharif wrote an essay in The Economist magazine in which he stated that the country in its adolescence, in the 1960s, brimmed with hope and promise as it had a date with destiny.
He said the nation was widely thought ready to "become the next Asian tiger&rdquo;. However, in 2022, Pakistan found itself mired in its latest economic crisis.
Meanwhile, the International Monetary Fund's executive board will meet on August 29 and is expected to approve a bailout package for Pakistan, including the pending disbursement of about USD 1.18 billion.

"We, obviously, would prefer that India move away from their long-term history of non-alignment G77 partnership with Russia,” Sherman said in response to a question from Congressman Tim Burchett.
The US has told Indian officials that it will be very hard for them now to get spare parts or to get them replaced from Russia because of the sanctions, she said.
“They have increased their defence relationship with us, and defence sales, and co-production efforts. And I think this is a great opportunity for that to surge in the years ahead,” she said.
US officials have expressed concern over India's purchase of the S-400 missile systems by Russia.
In October 2018, India signed a USD 5 billion deal with Russia to buy five units of the S-400 Triumf air defence missile systems to ramp up its air defence, despite a warning from the then Trump administration that going ahead with the contract may invite US sanctions.
The US has already imposed sanctions on Turkey under the CAATSA for the purchase of a batch of S-400 missile defence systems from Russia.
“I'm wondering, will India's neutrality in Russia's war on Ukraine and the country's general friendship with Russia have any effect on our policy towards India? US policy towards India, I guess I should say,” Burchett asked.
Congressman Joe Wilson also asked about India’s position in Ukraine. He said the world's largest democracy should be standing firm with the other democracies.
“We're in a conflict that has been identified by President Biden as totalitarianism against democracies. And so, either we stand for democracy's rule of law or we'll be facing around the world destabilisation by governments that are the rule of the gun,” he said.
“And so, how can we make an effort to replace the oil that India depends on and the military equipment that they depend on from Putin? This is just so illogical for the extraordinary country of India, the wonderful people of India, to be overlooking abstaining. That's incredible. That's such an insult to the people of India,” Wilson said.
India has faced flak from US lawmakers, both Republicans and Democrats, for choosing to abstain from UN votes to rebuke Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Unlike many other leading Western powers, India has not yet criticised Russia for its invasion of Ukraine and it abstained from the votes at the UN platforms in condemning the Russian aggression.
However, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has asserted that India is strongly against the Russia-Ukraine conflict as no solution can be arrived at by shedding blood. He told Parliament this week that if New Delhi has chosen a side, it is the side of peace and an immediate end to violence.
During the hearing, Sherman said America’s relationship with India, the world's largest democracy, is critical in so many areas.
“We have had very direct conversations with them about how we can address their very legitimate needs for their country,” she added.
“I think that there's progress being made to see what we can do to be supportive to them, while, at the same time, urging them to be more forthright regarding what's happening in Ukraine,” Sherman said.
“I did note that they made comments, not surprising, about the horrors that have taken place in Bucha. And so, I think we just have to keep working at this relationship and understanding the complexity of it, and helping India to really understand what is in their national security interests,” said the top American diplomat.

Pakistan's ISI agent, Habibur Rahman has been arrested from Pokhran in Rajasthan, for spying on <a href="https://www.editorji.com/story/drone-seen-over-indian-high-commission-in-islamabad-new-delhi-protests-1625217349116" target="_blank">Indian defence establishments</a> and for the possession of crucial maps and documents of the Indian Army.
Delhi Police has registered a case under the Official Secrets Act against Rehman. Rahman is now being questioned by Delhi Police Crime Branch.
The accused has said that the documents were given to him by Paramjit Kaur, an Army personnel deployed in Agra.
Paramjit Kaur is being questioned by officers and will soon be handed over to Delhi Police for further probe.
