CM Dr. Mohan Yadav initiates grand ShriKrishna events to showcase Madhya Pradesh's cultural heritage on Janmashtami and Balram Jayanti.

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that the State Government will highlight sites related to Lord ShriKrishna and the historical-cultural significance of prominent temples and locations across Madhya Pradesh by organising &lsquo;ShriKrishna Parv&rsquo; and the Prakatyotsav of &lsquo;Leela Purushottam&rsquo; on the auspicious occasions of &lsquo;ShriKrishna Janmashtami&rsquo; (August 16) and &lsquo;Haladhar Mahotsav&rsquo; on &lsquo;Balram Jayanti&rsquo; (14 August).

CM Dr. Yadav said that these celebrations will immerse the entire state in the spirit of Shri Krishna and drape it in cultural colours. CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that participation from all sections of society is being ensured in these programs.
Minister of State for Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts &amp; Endowments (Independent Charge) Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi informed that on &lsquo;Balram Jayanti&rsquo; and &lsquo;ShriKrishna Janmashtami&rsquo;, literary discussions, dialogues, Bhajans, kirtans and cultural troupe performances will be organised focusing on episodes from the lives of Balram and ShriKrishna, their contributions and their welfare-oriented life stories. At the district level, 'Matki Phod' (Dahi Handi) competitions will also be held on Janmashtami.
Shri Lodhi said that &lsquo;ShriKrishna Parv&rsquo; will be celebrated from August 16 to 18 at the Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain, where ShriKrishna attained education and wisdom.

The first day will feature Krishna Leela by artists of Vishala Cultural Institution Ujjain, flute recital by Shri Anupam Wankhede (Indore) and Bhajans by Ms. Swati Ukhale (Ujjain).
On August 17, performances will include Bareli folk dance by Shri Akshay Khare (Panna), devotional songs by Ms. Krishnad Verma (Ujjain) and Krishna Leela by Vishala Cultural Organization. On the final day, August 18, there will be Thathiya folk dance by Shri Avinash Dhurve (Betul), Bhajans by Shri Ramchandra Gangolia (Ujjain) and Krishna Leela presentations.
At Narayana Dham Temple, Ujjain, from August 14&ndash;18, there will be multiple performances including Krishna dance dramas by Smt. Sangharatna Banker &amp; group (Bhopal), Sangeeta Sharma (Delhi), Arghya Kala Samiti (Bhopal) and Smt. Sukanya Nagda &amp; group (Mumbai); Bhajan by Shri Anmol Jain &amp; group, Shri Charanjeet Singh Soundhi, Shri Babulal Solanki, Smt. Shraddha Jain, Shri Ravi Tripathi &amp; group (Mumbai), Smt. Kalyani Sugandhi and Vani Sathe (Ujjain), Ghoomar folk dance by Ms. Anuja Joshi (Khandwa) and Raas Leela by Shri Balram Sharma (Mathura).
In Mahidpur (Ujjain) at Shri Radha Krishna Temple from August 14&ndash;16, the program will feature devotional songs by Ms. Anamika Tripathi (Mumbai), Krishna dance drama by Ms. Prashasti Maneshwar (Mumbai), Bhajans by Ms. Aakriti Mehra &amp; group (Bhopal), Mayur dance &amp; Phoolon ki Holi by Shri Govind Tiwari (Vrindavan), Bhajans by Ms. Urmila Mewada (Shajapur) and Raas Leela by Shri Govind Tiwari.
At Gopal Mandir, Ujjain, on August 16, Ms. Shweta Gunjan Joshi (Dhar) will present Bhajans and Ms. Vinati Jain (Ujjain) will perform Matki folk dance.
Minister Shri Lodhi added that ShriKrishna was given the Sudarshan Chakra by Lord Parashuram at Janapav. On August 16, Bhajans will be performed there by Ms. Sheela Tripathi (Bhopal) and Ms. Ankita Kailasia (Gwalior). At Amjhera in Dhar district, where ShriKrishna abducted Rukmini, a two-day festival will be organised on August 16&ndash;17, featuring Badhai dance by Shri Dilip Sandela (Sagar), Bhajans by Shri Charanjeet Singh (Mumbai), Shri Anandeelal Bhavel (Dhar) and dance drama &lsquo;Krishna&rsquo; by Rang Triveni (Bhopal).
In Panna, at Shri Baldevji Temple on August 14, Bhajans by Ms. Kamla Lodhi (Chhatarpur), Ghasiya Baja by Shri Lal Bahadur Ghasi (Sidhi) and devotional songs by Swapnil Melody Group (Jabalpur) will be held. On August 16, Jugal Kishore Temple in Panna will host Badhai and Bareli folk dance by Shri Amit Gharu (Sagar) and devotional songs by Shri Pawan Tiwari (Tikamgarh).
In Damoh at PM College of Excellence on August 16, Krishna dance drama by Vividh Kala &amp; Cultural Committee, Bhajans by Ms. Madhavi Madhukar Jha (Mumbai) and Badhai/Jawara dance by Shri Abhilash Chaubey (Sagar) will be presented.
In Khategaon (Dewas) at Shri Radha Krishna Temple, Bhajans by Ms. Sanjo Baghel (Jabalpur) and Malwi Bhajans by Shri Mangilal Kulshreshtha (Agar-Malwa) will be held. In Rewa at Krishna Rajkapoor Auditorium, Bhajans by Ms. Manimala Singh (Rewa), Badhai folk dance by Durva Namdeo (Sagar) and Bhajans by Shri Ravi Tripathi &amp; group (Mumbai) will be presented.
In Mandla at PM College of Excellence on August 14, Bareli folk dance by Shri Manish Yadav (Sagar), Haladhar Leela by Shri Girdhar Gopal Sharma (Mathura) and Bhajans by Ms. Rakhi Banke (Bhopal) and Ms. Laxmi Dubey (Jabalpur) will take place. At Devi Birasni Temple in Pali (Umaria), &ldquo;ShriKrishna Parv&rdquo; will be organised from August 14&ndash;16. The three-day celebration will include Bhajans by Shri Dukhilal Dahiya (Umaria), Krishna dance drama by Ms. Sanghamitra Taywade (Bhopal), and devotional songs by Kabira Band (Umaria). On August 15, Bhajans by Ms. Mamta Mishra (Narmadapuram) and Krishna-themed dance by Abhinayana Dance Academy (Odisha) will be performed. On the final day, Krishna dance drama by Ms. Shalini Khare &amp; group (Jabalpur) and Bhajans by Shri Vivek Mehta &amp; group (Indore) will take place.
In Shahdol at Manas Bhavan Auditorium on August 14 at 7 PM, a dance drama by Shri Arvind Kumar Patel (Sidhi) and Bhajans by SAYA Band (Bhopal) will be held. On August 15, at Government Sandipani Higher Secondary School, Chhatwai village, Raas Leela by Ms. Jaya Saxena (Mathura), Bhajans by Shri Ishan Minocha (Jabalpur) and singing by Shri Munindra Mishra (Shahdol) will be presented. On August 16, at Radhaswami Temple in Dhanpuri (Shahdol), Bhajans by Ms. Ishita Vishwakarma &amp; group (Mumbai) and Ms. Manobhavana Singh (Rewa) will be featured.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign in Lucknow ahead of the 79th Independence Day, calling it a symbol of national pride and gratitude towards freedom fighters, revolutionaries, and soldiers.
Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with several state dignitaries, attended the event at the Kalidas Marg here, which was launched two days before Independence Day.
Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said the campaign was being organized in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to take the message of patriotism to every household.
"Our country is completing 78 years of Independence and has entered the Amrit Kaal. Every Indian should have a sense of respect and devotion towards the Constitution, national symbols, great revolutionaries, and eminent personalities,&rdquo; he said.
Over the past 10 years, under the Prime Minister's call, this spirit of nationalism has been reaching every home, and through the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, we are seeing it flourish, the CM added.
Adityanath said the Tiranga Yatra was not just a march but also an expression of gratitude to Bharat Mata, great leaders, revolutionaries, and brave soldiers.
"With the Independence Day celebrations, this journey in every village, town, and district is setting an example for all," he said.
Urging people to participate enthusiastically, Adityanath said, "The Tiranga should be hoisted in every Indian home as a symbol of our pride and respect for the country and our soldiers.
&ldquo;The world has witnessed the valor of Indian forces in Operation Sindoor, and today, when the world is amazed at India&rsquo;s strength, it is our responsibility to uphold the country&rsquo;s honor by rising above self-interest and dedicating ourselves to the nation,&rdquo; he said.

Security has been stepped up across the country at sensitive locations.&nbsp;
&nbsp;Delhi has been wrapped in a security blanket for Tuesday's 77th Independence Day celebrations, with more than 10,000 personnel manning the area in and around the Red Fort from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation, police said.
Around 1,000 cameras with facial recognition and video analytic systems have been installed in and around the Mughal-era fort and at other strategic locations to ensure security and monitor VVIP movements, the police said on Tuesday.
The Gyan Path in front of Red Fort will be decked with flowers and G20 signages. However, there will be no major decorations on the fort's rampart from where the prime minister addresses the nation.
The government has invited around 1,800 special guests from across the country to attend the programme. Seventy-five couples from each state and Union Territory, in their traditional attire, have been invited to witness the ceremony. Sarpanches of vibrant villages, nurses, fisherfolk and labourers engaged in the construction of the Central Vista project are also among the special invitees.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver on Tuesday his 10th consecutive Independence Day address - also his last before the 2024 Lok Sabha polls - with a mood of anticipation around the annual showpiece event that he has used to present his government's report card and unveil flagship schemes.
There is a view that the prime minister may choose to chart the country's journey on his watch in various sectors since 2014 and outline his vision for the years ahead, something he has done in previous addresses as well.
Experts will also be looking for political messages in the address. Modi has mostly refrained from launching any direct political attack on opposition parties in his Independence Day addresses but has often stressed on the governance changes his dispensation has ushered in after a spell of "corruption" and policy paralysis.
India's rising global stature, new energy and purpose in pushing forward the country's development journey and increasing self-confidence of its population have been among the key themes of his speeches that have also highlighted the country's embrace of firm security and foreign policy doctrines guided solely by the national interest.

Ahead of the occasions of Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan, in which kite-flying is considered to be a vital tradition, Delhi government has warned of punitive action against people found using or selling Chinese manjha in the capital.&nbsp;
Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday said that possible penalties for the violation of the ban on Chinese Manjha are five years in prison and a fine of up to Rs 1 lakh.
The Delhi government has directed Delhi Production Control Committee (DPCC) to strictly implement the ban on sale, production, storage, supply, and import of Chinese Manjha in Delhi during the upcoming festive season, a government statement read. The officials of revenue, wildlife, police and municipal corporations have also been directed to take punitive action against any violations of the ban.
Kite flying in Delhi peaks around August 15. The use of Chinese manjha during this activity results in unfortunate incidents every year. &nbsp;
"The use and sale of glass-coated nylon thread is prohibited since January 10, 2017. Still, many people violate the ban which sometimes causes fatal injuries to people, birds and animals," Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai said.
The Delhi Police, Revenue Department, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Transport Department, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, eco-clubs schools and colleges have been instructed to educate people about the ban on the Chinese manjha, he said.&nbsp;

75 Years of Independence: A patriotic feeling and euphoria overcomes Indians every time our National Flag is hoisted. It is not only a symbol of pride and mark of a free country but is also recognised as something to live and to die for.&nbsp;
Saffron at the top, white in the middle with the navy blue chakra (wheel) and green at the bottom- this is how we know the tricolour today.
Little do we know that the Indian National Flag has sailed through vicissitudes of time and several political and national&nbsp;developments.&nbsp;
Let's take a look at how its changed through time to become the tricolour we now know:
The first Flag was hoisted on August 7th, 1906 in the Parsee Bagan Square in Calcutta (now Kolkata). Believed to have been designed by freedom activists Sachindra&nbsp;Prasad Bose and Hemchandra Kanungo, the flag had horizontal stripes of red, yellow and green, with Vande Mataram written in the middle. The red stripe had symbols of the sun and a crescent moon while the green stripe had eight half-open lotuses.&nbsp;
The second Flag was very similar to the first flag but the top band had seven stars denoting the Saptarishi. This flag was hoisted in&nbsp;Paris by Madame Cama and exiled revolutionaries in 1907.&nbsp;
The third Flag was hoisted in 1917 by Dr Annie Besant and Lokmanya Tilak during the Home rule movement. The flag constituted of&nbsp;five red and four green horizontal stripes with seven stars in Saptarishi formation.&nbsp;
The fourth Flag was adopted in 1921 and comprised of two colours- red and green- representing the Hindu and Muslim communities.&nbsp;Mahatama Gandhi added the white stripe representing the rest of the communities and the spinning wheel as a mark of the nation's progress.&nbsp;
The fifth Flag was initially the battle ensign of the Indian National Army. In 1931, a resolution was passed for the adoption of the tricolour as&nbsp;the National Flag. The flag featured stripes of saffron, white and green with Mahatama Gandhi's spinning wheel at the center.&nbsp;
The sixth flag was similar to the one designed in 1931, except the Dharma Charkha of Emperor Ashoka replaced the spinning wheel. On July 22, 1947, it was adopted as the Free India National Flag. This variation of the flag is how we know our National Flag today.&nbsp;

Simplicity of the &lsquo;50s
Consumed by the fresh scent of freedom, the 1950s had a strong flavour of patriotism. The hand-spun khadi symbolised the swadeshi movement. Cloth sarees draped in different styles or simple salwar suits dominated the scene.
The fashion was largely functional and hints of European influences, especially in menswear, could also be observed. Women like Maharani Gayatri Devi, and Hindi cinema&rsquo;s Nargis, Nutan, Suraiya and Meena Kumari were the fashion icons of this era.
Colourful spirit of the &lsquo;60s
The 1960s was the decade that brought us Madhubala&rsquo;s Anarkali suit and the tiered orange saree on Mumtaz. Moving into a new decade, women&rsquo;s clothing became more fashionable and everyone embraced bright colours and prints.&nbsp;
With body-hugging churidar suits, shorter blouses and a hint of skin on display, the &lsquo;60s were also big on embracing curves. Not to forget, the poufy hairdos, winged eyeliner and the uber-popular Sadhna cut were also from this decade.
Hippie trippy vibe of the &lsquo;70s
Dubbed the &lsquo;decade of decadence&rsquo;, the 1970s were huge for fashion. The decade gave us Dimple Kapadia's iconic polka-dotted blouse in Bobby, Zeenat Aman's hippie look from Hare Rama Hare Krishna, Parveen Babi&rsquo;s scant bikini and Helen&rsquo;s iconic Cabaret feathers. Bell-bottoms, cropped shirts, oversized glasses, platform heels and polka dots were just some of the most memorable trends from this era.
Vivid creativity of the &lsquo;80s
The 1980s were all about the over the top (or OTT) vibe. Blingy ornamentation, big shoulder pads, gaudy colours, metallics, unruly hair and leg warmers &ndash; there was a lot happening in this decade. But this decade also birthed the first generation of Indian fashion designers like Rohit Khosla and Satya Paul.
Bhanu Athaiya won India&rsquo;s first and only Oscar for costume design in 1983 and the National Institute of Fashion Technology was set up in 1986. In Bollywood, Sri Devi and Rekha were the heroines leading the fashion scene.

Cool girls &amp; boys of the &lsquo;90s
The decade that birthed Indipop stars like Alisha Chinai and cult films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dil Toh Pagal Hai, the 1990s created trends that are still big today. From denim shirts, crop tops, chokers, co-ordinates and overalls to chiffon sarees and oversized shirts, we saw it all in the &lsquo;90s. And leading ladies like Karisma Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit and Kajol, often styled by Manish Malhotra, became the style icons of this period.
Fashion forward face of the &lsquo;00s
The aughts or the 2000s saw many international fashion brands opening up stores in India. Sporting the latest styles and trends was no longer limited to people who had connections abroad. Following in her sister&rsquo;s footsteps, Kareena Kapoor warmed things up with characters like Poo and Jab We Met&rsquo;s Geet.

Micro bags, sheer tops, oversized sweatshirts and cycling shorts were the viral trends from the period. Bloggers and Instagram-famous supermodels were the biggest trendsetters.

Independence Day 2021:&nbsp;Every&nbsp;Independence Day, with hearts full of pride and patriotism, Indians like to take a trip down the historical lane and celebrate numerous freedom fighters. To give recognition to these heroes&nbsp;many&nbsp;movies have been created and books been written on male freedom fighters,&nbsp;like&nbsp;Bhagat&nbsp;Singh,&nbsp;Chandrashekhar&nbsp;Azad&nbsp;and&nbsp;Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, but in comparison, there are not as many dedications towards&nbsp;their female counterparts.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Innumerable women freedom fighters were an active part of the independence&nbsp;struggle,&nbsp;but they have long been omitted from popular historic narratives.&nbsp;Here&rsquo;s celebrating the undaunted spirit of some of the unsung and forgotten women who played a significant role in India&rsquo;s independence but have sadly faded into oblivion.
Tara Rani Srivastava
Tara Rani Srivastava, who was born in Saran, Bihar, actively participated with her husband Phulendu Babu in the Quit India Movement. During one of the demonstrations, they managed to gather a crowd outside the Siwan Police station to hoist the Indian flag. Even when Phulendu was shot, Tara Rani bandaged his wounds and continued to march undeterred and with undaunting courage.
Captain Lakshmi Sahgal
Captain Lakshmi Sahgal was born in Madras and shall forever be remembered as an ardent freedom fighter. She was an officer of the Indian National Army (INA) and played a key role in the establishment of a women&rsquo;s regiment known as the Rani of Jhansi Regiment.
Rajkumari Gupta
Rajkumari Gupta was born in Kanpur and went on to work in close association with Chandrashekhar Azad. She played a key role in the Kakori dacoity, as she was the one who helped supply guns, revolvers and even messages.
Matangini Hazra
Matangini Hazra was born in a village named Hogla, near Tamluk in West Bengal. She was an active participant in both the Quit India Movement and the Non-Cooperation Movement. During one of the incidents, she continued to march even after having been shot. The braveheart continued to show undeterred courage and determination through all odds.
All these women and many such more were filled with the hope of freedom and socio-economic emancipation. With no greed for fame or recognition, they continued to fight against the great political odds faced by India during the British Raj. Even after 75 years of Independence, their efforts shall continue to kindle respect and pride in our hearts for years to come. &nbsp;

1983 World Cup
During an era that was dominated by hockey, Indians weren't taken seriously in other sports. That changed in 1983 as against all odds,&nbsp;Kapil's&nbsp;Devils did the unthinkable and beat won the cricket World Cup for the very first time. They not only ended West Indies' winning streak in the final, but gave the nation another sport to bite on. The iconic picture of Kapil&nbsp;Dev lifting the World Cup in Lord's still remains one of the most influential photos in Indian cricket as it laid the foundation of India becoming a cricketing superpower.
2007 World Cup
If the 1983 World Cup taught India how to win at the biggest stage, the 2007 World T20 infused aggression into the young crop of cricketers. India was coming off a heartbreaking loss in the ODI&nbsp;World Cup and with senior players opting out of the World T20, not many gave India a fighting chance. But apart from winning the tournament, it also saw the rise of a leader in MS Dhoni, and rest as they say is history.&nbsp;Victory at the first-ever World cup of the shortest format in South Africa meant that Indian fans were ready to consume more of T20 cricket, hence the Indian Premier League was born.&nbsp;
2011 World Cup
The year was 2011, the ODI World Cup was happening in the sub-continent and there couldn't have been a better opportunity for MS Dhoni&nbsp;and his men to give India a taste of the World Cup trophy which they had won 28 years ago. Team India lived up to its hype and defeated Sri&nbsp;Lanka in the final at the Wankhede&nbsp;to become the first team in history to win the World Cup in their own backyard. The win was a&nbsp;perfect farewell for Sachin&nbsp;Tendulkar&nbsp;who was playing his last World Cup.

While Indians have always had an emotional connect with cricket, another area which triggers their patriotic side are the Olympics.
