After the failure of 'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Harry Met Sejal', Imtiaz Ali has made a power-packed comeback with 'Chamkila' led by Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. As anticipation around the filmmaker's next venture mounts, he has shared an update on his dream project, 'Radha and Krishna', announced in 2018. In an interview with News 18 Showsha, the director, for the first time, opened up about the epic love saga that was indefinitely stalled.&nbsp;
<h3>What Imtiaz Ali said:&nbsp;</h3>
The film is on the cards; however, the filmmaker says he needs to be in a position where he can imbibe the characteristics of Radha and Krishna to do justice to the project. He said, &ldquo;I want to make the Radha Krishna film. I&rsquo;m very inspired by their stories and the mythology. But I've got to bring myself to a position where I can make it, and by that, I don&rsquo;t mean a physical position. It&rsquo;s just that I need to imbibe some of the characteristics of Radha and Krishna in myself to be able to make that film."
Imtiaz highlighted that he's waiting for the right time to tell the poignant love story to the Indian audience, requesting fans to pray that it happens soon. &ldquo;When I&rsquo;m making a film like that, I can&rsquo;t do it just like that. I need to get there somehow. That time will come, hopefully. To all those who want to watch this film, I would urge them to pray that I can make it,&rdquo; he smiles.
<h3>Imtiaz Ali on 'Chamkila' success</h3>
The filmmaker also shared that he's thrilled after the overwhelming response to his latest release, 'Chamkila'. He explains, &ldquo;I feel enthused by the fact that Chamkila has been liked. There were many things in the film that were risky. We used animation. Continuous shifts from live-action to animation may not have made any sense at all. The screen had translations of the songs coming up to explain their meaning.&rdquo;

He said, ‘People feel that these people had an affair with each other, but beyond that for life of an actor, there is a love for performing with each other, which is very important and significant.'

Imtiaz Ali&rsquo;s 2015 film &lsquo;Tamasha&rsquo; deeply resonated with the audience. In a recent interview, the filmmaker, who is currently basking in the success of his latest film &lsquo;Amar Singh Chamkila&rsquo;, delved into the deeply emotional final scene of the movie and explained why only actors like Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone could bring it to life.
For those unaware, in the concluding scene, Ranbir's Ved crawls to Deepika's Tara from the theatre stage and kisses her in gratitude for saving his life.
Imtiaz described the shooting experience to News18, saying, &lsquo;We were shooting this at a studio. It was a stage that we created, and a lot of work had been done. But this frame where he would enter from a certain place and she would enter from another place, and they would be looking at each other from a very close distance... It's a very difficult shot for actors to play because you are seeing them so close, and one can't formulate exactly what your reaction will be when you come so close to another person who belongs to the gender you are attracted to. It was a warm experience for all of us to watch.&rsquo;
Imtiaz Ali credited Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone&rsquo;s chemistry as actors for being able to pull off that scene. He said, &lsquo;People feel that these people had an affair with each other, but beyond that for life of an actor, there is a love for performing with each other, which is very important and significant. You might love to act with each other also and these two actors have that. They have the love for acting with each other. That showed in that frame.&rsquo;
&lsquo;Tamasha&rsquo; failed to perform well at the box office, but the film later gained a cult following.

Imtiaz Ali is all set to create magic on the big screen again with his upcoming film 'Chamkila'. This will be the first time that he'll be directing a biopic.The film will feature actor Parineeti Chopra and Diljit Dosanjh as two popular Punjabi singers Amarjot Kaur and Amar Singh Chamkila, respectively.
As per reports, Parineeti will start the shoot of this upcoming project from December 11 in Mumbai. This whole schedule will be shot with breaks over a period of two months.
Speaking with Film Companion, Diljit Dosanjh talked about his involvement in this Imtiaz Ali directorial. He further revealed that Imtiaz is very particular about him shining as Chamkila on the big screen, so he sends him an email every day him to tell him the nuances of his on-screen character.
Imtiaz Ali is donning the director's hat after two years. His last 2 movies,'Love Aaj Kal' and 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' were panned by the critics and were box-office failures.

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has been cast in the role of late Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila in an upcoming biopic which will be directed by Imtiaz Ali.
Known for portraying complex relationships in films like 'Tamasha', 'Rockstar' and others, Imtiaz will be directing a biopic about the life of late folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who became popular in Punjab with the stage name Chamkila.
Previously, it was speculated that actors Ranbir Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Kartik Aaryan might play the lead character. According to a tabloid, the producers wanted an actor who could sing and act. And when the Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh was approached for the role, he jumped on board right away. He cited Chamkila as an inspiration to the music industry.  Reports state that, Diljit will also be singing several of Chamkila's original songs for the film.
In collaboration with Reliance Entertainment, the film will be produced under Imitiaz's production banner Window Seat Films.
The film is touted to be a blend of facts and fiction narrating Chamkila's love life, controversies, music, and assassination.
One maybe aware that, while Diljit Dosanjh was last seen in the Punjabi film 'Honsla Rakh' alongside Shehnaaz Gill and also in the Bollywood film 'Good Newwz' with Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Kiara Advani.
