<p>The 54th International Film Festival of India concluded in Goa on November 28, with Endless Borders clinching the Best Film Award and Panchayat Season 2 securing the Best Web Series Award at the closing ceremony. Rishab Shetty received the Special Jury Award for Kantara, while Hollywood icon Michael Douglas was honored with the Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award.</p>
<p>270 international and Indian films, including 25 feature film and 20 non-feature film were screened at the festival.</p>
<p>During the festival's closing ceremony, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana jointly presented the 2023 Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award to Hollywood icon Michael Douglas.</p>
<p>In his acceptance speech, Michael remembered the work of Satyajit Ray and said, &lsquo;I would like to share this honour with PM Narendra Modi, the honourable Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur. It&rsquo;s an honour to receive Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award. I am humbled to join a prestigious group of past award recipients. Ray personified what it means to be a world class filmmaker.&rsquo;</p>
<p>He added, &lsquo;His films not only represent the triumph of the Indian film industry but the potential of the cross-cultural artistic expression. With every think going on in the world today, this festival reminds us the magic of movie making. When you have been in the industry as long as I have, it becomes clear that cinema is one of the few mediums that has the power to unite and transform us. It reveals our true humanity. Today our global language of cinema is more meaningful than ever.&rsquo;</p>
<p>After his speech, Ayushmann asked Michael if he has watched any Indian films. The actor responded by saying, &lsquo;I have watched RRR. Om Shanti Om is played in our house over and over again. Lunchbox is one of our favourites. I am also fortunate to have seen Satyajit Ray&rsquo;s work in college.&rsquo;</p>
<p>Catherine Zeta Jones was also honoured at the closing ceremony of the festival.</p>

<p>The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has landed in controversy after &nbsp;documentary filmmaker Arvind Sinha questioned Bollywood's presence in the Film festival. According to a new report by PTI, Arvind Sinha said that Bollywood is 'getting into these spaces' and further added, 'They don&rsquo;t need support from the government. What are they doing here?'<br><br>Arvind said "What is to be promoted (through IFFI) is good cinema. Bollywood has its own money, finance, muscle power, through all these things, they are getting into these spaces... (The people) who are making the decision should have clarity that public taxpayers money should not be spent on filmmakers like Karan Johar... They (IFFI organisers) have to support the documentary filmmakers, feature filmmakers who need support. There are no rajas-maharajas to support the artistes, the government should support any work of art&hellip;Why should these spaces be given to those who already have everything? They don&rsquo;t need support from the government. What are they doing here? The film festival is not for them. The film festival should be for good cinema."<br><br>Filmmaker producer Karan Johar was present at the 54th IFFI in Goa, where he unveiled the motion poster of their upcoming film Ae Watan Mere Watan with Sara Ali Khan.&nbsp; However, Aravind's remarks did not sit well with the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA), who released a statement condemning the speech as 'distasteful.'<br><br>The official statement read, &ldquo;The speech of Chairperson, Indian Panorama non feature film jury head, Mr. Arvind Sinha, on the 2nd day of the opening ceremony of IFFI function in Goa, is distasteful, disgusting and disastrous, which had made Hon. <p>Sara and Karan attended the 54th International Film Festival of India on November 20 to unveil the film's new poster. In the new poster, we're transported back in time to an era long past, witnessing a determined young girl in a dimly lit room, speaking into a radio-like gadget with intense focus.</p>
<p>&lsquo;Ae Watan Mere Watan&rsquo; is a fictional tale which is set against the backdrop of the Quit India Movement in 1942. It is a story of courage, patriotism, sacrifice, and resourcefulness of the youth of the nation in India&rsquo;s freedom struggle.</p>
<p>&lsquo;As an actor, and more importantly, as an Indian I am proud to be able to portray a character that echoes bravery, strength and courage. Working with Kannan Iyer sir is a sheer privilege as he is so passionate and emotionally invested in this story himself. And while of course, it is very challenging to essay a character that is vastly different from anything that I&rsquo;ve done before, it is a project I&rsquo;m going to work really hard on. And most importantly, I&rsquo;m going to cherish every day that I get to play an enigmatic freedom fighter,&rsquo; Sara Ali Khan said, sharing her excitement about playing this role.</p>

<p>At the event, Madhuri was honoured with Special Recognition for her contribution to Bharatiya Cinema Award.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur took to X to share the news and called it a celebration of an extraordinary journey, a tribute to an everlasting legacy.</p>
<p>He wrote, &lsquo;An icon across the ages, @MadhuriDixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades. From the effervescent Nisha to the captivating Chandramukhi, the majestic Begum Para to the indomitable Rajjo, her versatility knows no bounds.&rsquo;</p>
<p>&lsquo;Today, we are filled with admiration as we present the &lsquo;Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema&rsquo; Award to the talented, charismatic actress who has redefined excellence in cinema, at the 54th International Film Festival of India. <p>The 54th edition of the International Film Festival of India promises to be a mix of glamour and artistry.</p>
<p>It features stars like Shriya Saran, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Pankaj Tripathi, as well as musical maestros Shantanu Moitra, Shreya Ghoshal and Sukhwinder Singh.</p>
<p>Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna hosted the ceremony at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, marking the beginning of the film gala in Goa from November 20 to 28.</p>
<p><strong>Madhuri Dixit&rsquo;s work front</strong></p>
<p>Madhuri Dixit was last seen in the 2022 film &lsquo;Maja Ma&rsquo;. Directed by Anand Tiwari, the film also stars Gajraj Rao, Ritwik Bhowmik, Barkha Singh, Srishti Shrivastava, and Simone Singh.</p>
<p>The film premiered on October 6, 2022, on Amazon Prime Video.</p>
