A ground worker was killed after he fell from a tow-truck and was run over by an aircraft at the Hong Kong airport. As per the media reports, police received a call from airport staff at around 3 am on February 6 saying a man had been found unconscious at West Apron.&nbsp;
Emergency personnel found the 34-year-old man with multiple injuries and declared him dead at the scene. The man was an employee of China Aircraft Services which is responsible for aircraft towing, the Airport Authority said.&nbsp;

Police stated that the man was riding in the passenger seat of a tow truck when he fell out of the vehicle and was hit by the plane being pulled behind it. The Authority said, "It is suspected that the seat belt was left unfastened while the staff was working on the vehicle."

Surveys showed 60% of the respondents showed support for same-sex marriage in 2023, up from 38% in 2013, according to a report issued by researchers at The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of North Carolina School of Law in May.

Hofman said he hopes the &ldquo;Double Ducks&rdquo; art exhibition would bring some joy to the city, helping people connect and make memories together.
&ldquo;Hong Kong really needs it, it&rsquo;s really craving for it. I mean, the pandemic really is one the topics why we bring it, because we need some joy," he said.
The two ducks will stay in Hong Kong for about two weeks, subject to weather conditions.
Hofman has been taking his Rubber Duck on a world tour since 2007.
At the promenade, many Hong Kongers recalled the happiness brought by his work in the shopping district of Tsim Sha Tsui in 2013.
They said they were excited to see a pair of ducks on Friday, instead of just one giant duck like a decade ago.
&ldquo;There was only one duck last time...The ducks so adorable and are located so close to us this time,&rdquo; said resident Fu Tak-gor.
Among them was artist Laurence Lai, who brought brushes to make watercolour paintings of the ducks' arrival, as he said it provided good artistic opportunities for artists.
In 2013, many residents and tourists packed streets near the Tsim Sha Tsui pier to catch a glimpse of Hofman's duck. But it was once deflated during the display period and caused disappointment in the city.

A high-rise building under construction in Hong Kong erupted in flames and was still burning hours later, with some nearby residential blocks evacuated early Friday after the fire threatened to spread.
Officials said the fire initially broke out at 11:11 pm (1511 GMT) Thursday in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, a busy shopping and tourist district on the city's harbourfront. It eventually escalated to the fourth level of severity on a five-point scale.
No casualties had been reported early Friday, while 130 affected residents had been relocated to a safe distance, police told AFP.
Flames were first spotted near scaffolding at the top of the building, with the blaze clearly visible across the harbour and sending sparks raining down onto neighbouring streets.
Around an hour later, the fire had spread down the length of the building and was approaching street level, where hundreds of onlookers had gathered.
Police said five buildings in the surrounding area had reported fires, though some had been quickly extinguished.
The building was billed as a 42-storey "harbourside icon" in the making, intended to house the historic Mariners' Club and a new hotel, according to the website of its developer, the Empire Group.
The HK$6 billion ($764 million) redevelopment project was greenlit in 2019 and was originally expected to be completed in the first half of 2023, according to local media.
Empire Group did not immediately respond to AFP's request for comment.

China's top legislative body made a legal interpretation that targets overseas lawyers who do not normally practice in the city, according to China's Xinhua news agency.
Its decision could overturn an earlier ruling by Hong Kong's top court to let Jimmy Lai, the founder of the now-defunct Apple Daily, employ Timothy Owen to defend him against collusion charges under a Beijing-imposed National Security Law.
Friday's ruling marks the sixth time the Communist-ruled national government has stepped into the legal affairs of the former British colony, which was promised a &ldquo;high degree of autonomy&rdquo; and judicial independence for 50 years when it returned to China in 1997.
Beijing was addressing the request filed by Hong Kong leader John Lee, who sought a legal interpretation hours after the city's highest court rejected government objections against letting Owen represent Lai.
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress said the city's courts have to obtain a certificate from the city leader on whether foreign lawyers could handle such cases, according to the state media report.
If the courts didn't, then the city's committee for safeguarding national security, chaired by the city leader, should make the decision, it added.

Asked on his certification process, Lee said he would look at all the information available to him to assess whether a particular activity relates to national security or any evidence involves state secrets when such questions arise in courts.
&ldquo;The power to make such a decision has been clearly stipulated since the enactment of the National Security Law. So the legal interpretation has not given the chief executive more powers,&rdquo; he said at a press briefing.
He said the government would proactively consider amending the Legal Practitioners Ordinance and enact the city's own national security legislation as soon as possible.
The government's 2003 attempt to set up its own security laws, which is required by the city's constitution, was abandoned in the face of huge protests.
Eric Lai, a fellow at Georgetown Centre for Asian Law, said the legal interpretation has damaged the city's judicial independence because it allows the national security committee to overturn the final court's decision.
&ldquo;Although the content of this legal interpretation appears brief, the massive arbitrary power granted to the committee is a devastation to Hong Kong's rule of law and judicial independence,&rdquo; he said.
In national security cases, defendants' right to pick their lawyers is now being controlled by the administrative branch, he added.
The National Security Law criminalises acts of succession, subversion, terrorism, and collusion with foreign forces. It has led to the arrests of many prominent democracy activists and damaged faith in the future of the international financial hub.
Lai, who was sentenced on December 10 to five years and nine months of jail in a separate fraud case, is accused of conspiring together with others to call for an imposition of sanctions or blockade, or engage in hostile activities against Hong Kong or China.
He also faces a charge of collusion with foreign forces to endanger national security, and a separate sedition charge under a colonial-era law that is increasingly used to crush dissent.
His trial, originally scheduled to begin December 1, was postponed until September 2023 as the city awaited Beijing's decision.

After China eased Covid-19 restrictions, Hong Kong is following suit and scrapping most of its curbs this week.&nbsp; Starting December 29, mandatory PCR tests will no longer be needed for individuals arriving in the city.&nbsp; Instead of PCR tests, travellers will required to take daily rapid antigen Covid tests for first five days as a health recommendation, said Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee at a news conference. Wearing masks will still be compulsory in public places and limitations on number of people allowed to gather outside will be removed too.&nbsp; It is an important move by the city, seeing as how it had some of the toughest Covid-19 restrictions in the world.&nbsp;
Lee attributed easing of restrictions to high vaccine rates. Over 80% of the city has at least three doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
Mainland China has relaxed measures in recent weeks and Hong Kong is preparing for the January reopening of its border with China, which had previously imposed harsh restrictions and snap lockdowns to stamp out the virus.

The drugs, which were seized October 23, had been concealed in bottles labelled as coconut water in a cargo shipment that arrived in Hong Kong by sea, according to a government statement.
The haul is estimated to be worth 1.1 billion Hong Kong dollars (USD 140 million).
Authorities found that 1,800 bottles out of the total 7,700 bottles contained liquid meth.
The bust is the largest on record among meth cases in terms of the amount and market value.
Authorities are still investigating the case, and no arrests have been made.
The stash of drugs were bound for Australia, and had been shipped from Mexico via Hong Kong, according to authorities who spoke Saturday at a news conference.
In Australia, the market value of the drugs could reach about HK dollar 8 billion (USD 1 billion).
The cargo had raised suspicion as it was unusually large for a coconut water shipment from Mexico.
The meth haul is the second found in shipments from Mexico to Australia in less than two weeks.
Custom officials earlier this month seized about USD 5.9 million worth of crystal meth concealed in a shipment of electrical transformers that were also bound for Australia from Mexico.&nbsp;

A Swiss railway company claimed the record for the world's longest passenger train Saturday with a trip on one of the most spectacular tracks through the Alps.
The Rhaetian Railway company ran the 1.9-kilometer-long (1.2-mile-long) train composed of 100 coaches along the Albula/Bernina route from Preda to Berguen.
The route was designated a UNESCO World Heritage in 2008 and leads through 22 tunnels, some of which spiral through mountains, and across 48 bridges, including the curved Landwasser Viaduct.
The entire journey took over an hour. Rail enthusiasts lined the valley to watch the train's 25 sections wind their way about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) through the Alps.
Rhaetian Railway director Renato Fasciati said the record attempt was intended to highlight some of Switzerland's engineering achievements and to celebrate 175 years of Swiss railways.

UK police probe assault of Hong Kong pro-democracy protester at Chinese consulate 

A video posted by the BCC showed a scuffle breaking out in front of the consulate after masked men tore down and took away the protesters' placards.

British police said Monday they were investigating the assault of a Hong Kong pro-democracy protester who was beaten up on the grounds of the Chinese consulate in the city of Manchester.
The man, who is in his 30s, told the BBC that unidentified Chinese men from the consulate building dragged him inside the consulate and assaulted him during a protest on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police said its officers intervened and removed the protester from the consulate grounds &ldquo;due to our fears for the safety of the man.&rdquo; &ldquo;Around 30 to 40 people gathered outside the Chinese Consulate, and local patrols were in the area to help maintain the peaceful protest,&rdquo; police said. &ldquo;Shortly before 4 pm, a small group of men came out of the building and a man was dragged into the consulate grounds and assaulted.&rdquo; The protester remained in the hospital Monday for treatment, police said. No arrests have yet been made.

Downing Street said the incident was &ldquo;deeply concerning," adding that police had stepped up patrols in the area.
The Chinese consulate in Manchester did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Andy Burnham, the mayor of Greater Manchester, said it was important for the full facts to be established, but added: "On the basis of what I have seen, I want to make clear that it is never acceptable for peaceful protesters to be assaulted and those responsible need to be held to account for their actions.&rdquo; The opposition Labour Party's foreign affairs spokesman, David Lammy, called on the Conservative government to summon the Chinese ambassador to explain what happened.
The protesters had gathered as the Chinese Communist Party opened its weeklong congress in China on Sunday.

Delivering a report to the twice-a-decade party meeting in Beijing, Xi said China has also waged a major struggle against Taiwan separatism and is determined and able to oppose territorial integrity
Along with the crackdown on Hong Kong, Xi Jinping also defended the military aggression against Taiwan, saying he "safeguarded" the country's "dignity and core interests" for ensuring security.

He said it was ensured that Hong Kong is governed by "patriots" after the "order" was restored in the region.
On the self-governed island of Taiwan, he said, "In response to separatist activities aimed at Taiwan independence and gross provocations of external interference in Taiwan affairs, we have resolutely fought against separatism and countered interference.
He said that China has demonstrated their resolve and ability to safeguard "China's sovereignty and to oppose "Taiwan's independence." Faced with "changes in the international landscape", the Chinese President said the country has "maintained firm strategic resolve and shown a fighting spirit. "Throughout these endeavours, we have safeguarded China's dignity and core interests and kept ourselves well-positioned for pursuing development and ensuring security."
