Amid the unusual rise in temperatures, The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a warning against the heat waves ahead of summers 2023. Following this, The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued an advisory of dos and don'ts.&nbsp;
<h3>Dos&nbsp;</h3>
<ul>
<li>Always remember to drink a sufficient amount of water to keep yourself hydrated. Consume more ORS, lemon water, lassi and fresh juices.</li>
<li>Wear loose-fitting, lightweight and light-coloured clothes to help your body breathe and control sweating.</li>
<li>Use of sunscreens is a must and don't forget to reapply.</li>
<li>To keep your home cool, use proper curtains and shades, grow lots of indoor and outdoor plants and open windows at night.</li>
<li>Use an umbrella, sunglasses, hat and towel whenever you step out.</li>
<li>Take frequent cold showers and preserve rainwater to promote harvesting.</li>
<li>The Ministry further has asked citizens to keep themselves updated about the local weather news.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Don'ts</h3>
<ul>
<li>Avoid going out in the sun, especially between 12 PM to 3 PM</li>
<li>Do not keep your children or pets in parked vehicles as the temperature inside the vehicle could be dangerous.</li>
<li>Avoid drinking carbonated drinks which dehydrate your body.</li>
<li>Do not exercise during hotter times of the day, rather prefer cooler times.</li>
<li>Avoid high protein non-vegetarian food; prefer fresh and light food.</li>
<li>Try to avoid cooking during the peak hours of the day and eat smaller and more digestible meals.</li>
<li>Always avoid direct sunlight and do not step out barefoot.&nbsp;</li>

Delhi has recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and above on 25 days so far this summer season, the highest number of such days since 2012, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data.
In 2012, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius or above on 30 days. The number of such days was 35 in 2010, the highest in the 1951-2022 period, the data showed.
The capital saw six such days last year and three in 2020, the lowest since 1997 when only two such days were recorded.
Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and above on 16 days in 2019, 19 days in 2018, 15 days each in 2017 and 2016, 18 days in 2015, 15 days in 2014 and 17 days in 2013.
Delhi did not witness any such day in 1953, 1954 and 1971, the data showed.
Summer arrived early in India this year, as brutal heatwaves scorched parts of the country in March and April amid scanty rains and feeble western disturbances.
Delhi recorded its second hottest April this year since 1951 with a monthly average maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius.
The city has seen six heatwave spells this summer, the deadliest being in mid-May when the maximum temperature soared to 49 degrees Celsius at some places.
The latest heatwave spell began on June 2 amid the absence of strong western disturbances and an onslaught of hot and dry westerly winds.

However, there could be some respite on Wednesday as a thunderstorm along with a dust storm has been predicted. Severe heatwave conditions will also prevail over east Rajasthan, parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
