India will be declared as 'akhand Hindu rashtra' by 2026' and 'whoever speaks against Hindus, will not be spared,' Singh is heard telling the sizeable crowd in Ahmednagar district at a recent public meeting.&nbsp;
The Telangana MLA who has a history of making incendiary communal speeches, was arrested last year for remarks against Prophet Mohammed following which he was suspended by the BJP.

The Supreme Court on Thursday lamented that nobody was taking action against hate speeches despite its orders, and observed that the top court will be left "embarrassed again and again" if it is asked to give further directions to curb such statements.

Holding that the Constitution of India envisages a secular nation, the top court on October 21 last year directed the Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments to come down hard on hate speeches.&nbsp;

The Supreme Court on Thursday lamented that nobody was taking action against hate speeches despite its orders, and observed that the top court will be left "embarrassed again and again" if it is asked to give further directions to curb such statements.
The court's strong observations were made by a bench comprising Justice K M Joseph, Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Hrishikesh Roy when a plea seeking to prohibit an event scheduled to be held on February 5 by the Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha in Mumbai was mentioned for an urgent hearing.
The bench agreed to hear the plea on Friday subject to instructions and approval from Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud on the administrative side.
"We are with you on this, but understand that the Supreme Court cannot be triggered every time there is a rally notified. We have already passed an order which is clear enough. Just imagine rallies happening all across the country. Every time there will be an application before the Supreme Court. How can that be feasible? "You ask us to be embarrassed again and again by getting an order. We have passed so many orders yet nobody is taking action. The Supreme Court should not be asked to pass an order on an event to event basis," it observed.
The observation came after a lawyer mentioned the matter, saying the issue needs urgent hearing against holding of the Mumbai rally.
She submitted that a similar rally was organised a few days ago in which 10,000 people participated and allegedly gave a call to boycott Muslim communities economically and socially.
On continuous persistence of the lawyer, the court asked her to serve a copy of the application to the counsel for Maharashtra.
"Serve a copy on the State, we will list it tomorrow subject to orders of the CJI. Only this case, not the entire batch," the bench said.
Holding that the Constitution of India envisages a secular nation, the top court on October 21 last year directed the Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments to come down hard on hate speeches, promptly registering criminal cases against the culprits without waiting for a complaint to be filed.
It had also warned that any delay on the part of the administration in taking action on this "very serious issue" would invite the court's contempt.

Hate speeches are a "complete menace", the Supreme Court observed on Friday and rued the lack of regulatory control on TV news content, saying it wants "free and balanced press in India".
The top court said nowadays everything is driven by TRP (television rating point) and channels are competing with each other and creating a division in society. It wondered why can't a TV news anchor, if they become a part of the problem of propagating hate speech, be taken off air.

A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna, which was hearing a batch of petitions seeking a curb on hate speech incidents across the country and action against the culprits, said, "Hate speech has become a complete menace. It has to stop." Expressing concern over media trial, the bench pointed to the recent incident of a man allegedly urinating on an Air India flight, saying, "He was called names. Media people should understand he is still under trial and he should not be denigrated. Everyone has dignity." Justice Joseph said TV channels are competing with each other as news coverage is TRP-driven. &nbsp; "They sensationalise everything and create divisions in society because of the visual element. Unlike the newspaper, the visual medium can influence you much more and unfortunately, the audience is not mature enough to see these kind of content," he said.
He said many a time during live debates the anchors became part of the problem as they either mute the voice of the person sitting in a panel or don't allow them to present a counter view.
Justice Nagarathna said if TV channels are found to be violating the programme code by indulging in propagation of hate speech, action can be taken against their management.
"We want free and balanced press in India," she said.

The counsel representing the News Broadcasters Association claimed that thousands of complaints have been received in the past year and action taken against the channels.

An FIR has been filed against the organisers of an event in the national capital where some speakers allegedly had made hate speeches, Delhi Police said on Monday.
"An FIR has been registered against the organisers under IPC Sec 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) for not taking permission from police," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahadra) R Sathiyasundaram.
The event was organised by several Hindu right outfits, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad.
VHP spokesperson Vinod Bansal said it was laughable that police was saying no permission taken for the programme in which thousands were present, including the police, which was deployed there.
"Let alone permission, we fixed the venue at Ramleela Ground in Dilshad Garden after suggestion and recommendation by senior police officers. We earlier had planned to hold the gathering near Manish's house but on the request of police changed it to Ramlila Maidan," Bansal claimed.
Delhi BJP MP Parvesh Verma courted controversy on Sunday after he allegedly called for total boycott of a community at an event held to protest the killing of a Hindu youth in northeast Delhi.
Manish (19) was stabbed to death in Sundar Nagri earlier this month.
Police have arrested all the accused in the case -- Aalam, Bilal and Faizan -- and have said they killed the youth in an old rivalry.
In a purported video of the event, Verma could be heard saying, "Wherever you find them, there is only one way to straighten them out -- total boycott. Do you agree with me?"
The Delhi Police had on Sunday said it is obtaining the details of the event held in east Delhi's Dilshad Garden and added that no permission was taken for organising it.
No immediate reaction was available from Verma, who is the BJP MP from West Delhi.
Verma could be seen in the purported video seeking an answer from the crowd about his call for "total boycott" of the community and asking them to raise their hands if they agreed with him.
"We will not buy anything from their shops or pay them any wages. This is the only treatment for them," he can be heard saying in the video.
Manish's killing was captured on a CCTV camera. In the footage, three youths are seen walking down a lane and accosting him.
The footage further shows one of the three grabbing Manish by his collar and slapping him. The other two also join in, and start stabbing Manish with knives.

Noting that the role of the anchor is important during TV debates, the court said it's the duty of the anchor to prevent hate speeches from happening.
A bench of Justices K M Joseph and Hrishikesh Roy said there needs to be an institutional mechanism to deal with hate speech.
“The role of anchor (in TV debates) is very important. These speeches on mainstream media or social media that is unregulated.  “Mainstream TV channels still hold sway. The role of anchor is critical and it's their duty to see that hate speech doesn't occur…Many a time those who want to speak are muted,” the bench observed.
The top court said there should be a synchronised method to deal with the issue of hate speech and that the country needs to be a responsible democracy where there is accountability.  The apex court expressed dissatisfaction over steps taken by the government and orally said,”Why is the government remaining a mute spectator?  The bench directed the Union of India to make clear its stand as to whether it intends to enact a law on the Law Commision's recommendations for prohibiting incitement of hate speech.
The top court was hearing a batch of petitions about hate speech and rumour-mongering.

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Secretary of the Union Home Ministry to collate information from states and Union Territories to clarify actions taken to curb hate speeches as per the top court's earlier order.

The court was referring to its earlier rulings in which it had sought details on compliance of directions given by it regarding "preventive, corrective, and remedial measures" to curb untoward situations, such as mob violence and hate speech.

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Secretary of the Union Home Ministry to collate information from states and Union Territories to clarify actions taken to curb hate speeches as per the top court's earlier order.
The bench, headed by Justices A M Khanwilkar, and comprising A S Oka and J B Pardiwala, was hearing a batch of petitions, one of them filed by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, seeking the apex court's intervention in curbing hate speech and rumour-mongering.&nbsp;
&ldquo;As the first step, at least this information should be before us. Which states are proactive, which are not acting at all, which have acted partially&hellip;&rdquo; the bench observed while listing the case after six weeks.

The respondents, including the Centre, concerned states, and UTs as well as the Election Commission of India have been asked to file a response to the writ petitions within three weeks.
The court also asked the petitioners to prepare a chart of instances of hate speech and provide it to states in a week's time that are in turn supposed to inform the court about the steps taken by them in these cases.&nbsp;

The apex court had also directed the Uttarakhand chief secretary to place on record that no untoward statements will be made if the Roorkee 'dharam sansad' takes place.

The Supreme Court on Friday expressed its displeasure over a Delhi Police affidavit filed in connection with alleged hate speeches made during an event held here and directed it to file a “better affidavit”.
Delhi Police had told the top court that no specific words against any community were uttered at an event organised here by the Hindu Yuva Vahini' on December 19 last year.
A bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Abhay S Oka gave two weeks to the Additional Solicitor General K M Natraj to seek instructions and file a "better affidavit" by May 4.
"The affidavit has been filed by Deputy Commissioner of Police. We hope he has understood the nuances. Has he merely reproduced the inquiry report or applied mind. Is it your stand as well or the reproduction of inquiry report of sub inspector level officer?" the bench asked.
"The ASG seeks time to get instructions from authorities to file a better affidavit... Two weeks time prayed for. List this matter on May 9. Better affidavit be filed on or before May 4,” it said.
The top court was hearing a petition filed by journalist Qurban Ali and former Patna High Court judge and senior advocate Anjana Prakash, who have also sought a direction for an "independent, credible and impartial investigation" by an SIT into incidents of hate speeches against the Muslim community.

The Supreme Court on Friday expressed its displeasure over a Delhi Police affidavit filed in connection with alleged hate speeches made during an event held here and directed it to file a &ldquo;better affidavit&rdquo;.
Delhi Police had told the top court that no specific words against any community were uttered at an event organised here by the Hindu Yuva Vahini' on December 19 last year.
A bench of Justice A M Khanwilkar and Abhay S Oka gave two weeks to the Additional Solicitor General K M Natraj to seek instructions and file a "better affidavit" by May 4.
"The affidavit has been filed by Deputy Commissioner of Police. We hope he has understood the nuances. Has he merely reproduced the inquiry report or applied mind. Is it your stand as well or the reproduction of inquiry report of sub inspector level officer?" the bench asked.
"The ASG seeks time to get instructions from authorities to file a better affidavit... Two weeks time prayed for. List this matter on May 9. Better affidavit be filed on or before May 4,&rdquo; it said.

Videos doing rounds online show a man dressed in saffron robe sitting in a car and addressing a crowd in UP's Khairabad on April 2. The incident sparked outrage on social media with netizens asking why no action had been taken against man for threatening to kidnap and rape women. 
Journalist Mohammad Zubair posted one of the videos on Twitter and said that the priest had made a hate speech in present of the police. 
In reply to his tweet, Sitapur Police said that a senior officer is investigating the matter and that action will be taken on the basis of facts.
The National Commission for Women has also condemned the incident and sought the priest's arrest. The panel also written a letter to the DGP of UP saying that police should not be a mute spectator in such incidents and appropriate measures must be taken by them to curb people from using such outrageous language for women.

Police said they had denied permission for the event but the organisers still went ahead with the "Mahapanchayat Sabha" and around 700-800 people were present at the venue.
Three FIRs have been lodged in connection with the event, police said, adding that legal action is being taken against those spreading rumours and misinformation using various platforms, including through social media.
All cases are being investigated and no arrests have been made yet, police said.
In a statement, the Delhi Police said a request letter seeking permission for organising the event was received in North-West district from Preet Singh, president, Save India Foundation. Singh is a resident of outer Delhi's Mangolpuri.
"The request was denied on the ground that the organiser had no permission from the land-owning agency -- Delhi Development Authority -- for organising this sabha at the Burari ground. Despite the denial by Delhi Police, on Sunday, organiser Preet Singh reached the Burari ground with his supporters in the morning and started organising the Hindu Mahapanchayat Sabha. Around 700-800 people gathered at the event place and the invitees of the organiser started delivering speeches from the stage," the statement said.
A police team reached the venue of the event. Some of the speakers, including Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati, the head priest of the Dasna Devi temple, and Suresh Chauhanke, chief editor of Sudarshan News, uttered words promoting disharmony, feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between two communities.
Accordingly, a case under sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Mukherjee Nagar police station.
The second FIR was registered on a complaint received from two journalists of a news portal, police said.  "In their complaint, they alleged that at around 1.30 pm, when they were rushing towards the exit, they were manhandled and assaulted by a group of people who also tried to snatch their mobile phones and I-cards," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani said, adding that they refused to undergo a medical test.
The third FIR was registered on another complaint received from a freelance journalist, who alleged that at around 1 pm, when he and two other journalists were interviewing a man, some people assaulted him, the officer said.
"Police intervened and ensured their safety. They were medically examined and a case under sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered," she added.  The development comes after Narsinghanand, notorious for making intemperate remarks against Muslims, stoked yet another controversy with his comment that "50 per cent of Hindus will convert" in 20 years if a Muslim becomes the prime minister of India.
Addressing the "Hindu Mahapanchayat" for which the Delhi administration had not granted permission, he also exhorted Hindus to take up arms to fight for their existence. The mahapanchayat was organised by Preet Singh of Save India Foundation. This is the same group that had earlier held a similar controversial event at Jantar Mantar in the national capital, where anti-Muslim slogans were raised.
Singh was arrested by the Delhi Police for making a hate speech at the Jantar Mantar event.
Several other Hindu supremacist leaders also attended the Sunday event.  Narsinghanand is currently on bail in connection with the Haridwar hate speech case.
"Only in 2029 or in 2034 or in 2039, a Muslim will become the prime minister. Once a Muslim becomes the prime minister, 50 per cent Hindus will convert, 40 per cent will be killed and the remaining 10 per cent will either live in refugee camps or in other countries in the next 20 years.
"This will be the future of the Hindus. If you want to avoid this future, then become a man and take up arms," Narsinghanand is heard saying in a video clip of the mahapanchayat, which is being circulated on social media.
PTI could not independently check the veracity of the video.
Narsinghanand has been involved in hate speech cases in the past as well. An FIR was lodged in Haridwar against him for making highly provocative speeches against Muslims at the Dharma Sansad, which was held in the holy town between December 17 and December 19 last year.
In the Sunday mahapanchayat, Narsinghanand went on to assert that Hindus should stop "begging" for their rights.
"For long I have seen Hindus begging for their demands to be fulfilled. But I have not seen even a single demand of any Hindu being met. We got Ram Janmabhoomi not by begging but through the court's intervention, so stop being a beggar," he was heard saying in the video clip.  Sharing a tweet by one of the journalists who alleged that two young Muslim men from the media were assaulted by a Hindu mob at the mahapanchayat and were also taken into custody, Rangnani took to Twitter to say nobody was detained.
"Some of the reporters, willingly, on their own free will, to evade the crowd which was getting agitated by their presence, sat in PCR Van stationed at the venue and opted to proceed to Police Stn for security reasons. No one was detained. Due police protection was provided," she said.  "For spreading misinformation, due necessary action shall be initiated against such persons," she added.

He was picked up from where he was sitting on a dharna in protest against the recent arrest of another accused in the case, Jitendra Narayan Tyagi.
Tyagi was formerly known as Waseem Rizvi and changed his name after converting to Hinduism.
Tyagi who headed the Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board before converting to Hinduism was the first person to have been arrested in connection with the case.
Both Tyagi and Narasimhanand are among those named accused in the FIRs lodged in connection with the event.The arrest of Tyagi and Narsinghanand has come after the Supreme Court issued notices to the Centre, Delhi Police and the Uttarakhand government.
