Days after a 33-year-old woman, Twisha Sharma, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal, her relatives and friends staged a protest at Delhi&rsquo;s Jantar Mantar on Monday, alleging irregularities in the post-mortem procedure and demanding a CBI probe into the case.
Holding placards and banners reading &lsquo;Justice for Twisha&rsquo;, the protesters raised slogans seeking action against Twisha&rsquo;s husband, Samarth Singh, a lawyer, and his mother, Giribala Singh, a retired judge, whom the deceased&rsquo;s family has accused of murder and dowry harassment.
Twisha, who hailed from Noida, was found hanging at her marital home in the Katara Hills area of Bhopal on May 12.
According to police, she met Bhopal-based lawyer Samarth through a dating app in 2024, and the couple tied the knot in December 2025.
Twisha&rsquo;s family, who have accused Samarth and his mother of murder, claimed on Sunday that her body had remained in the mortuary of AIIMS Bhopal for the last five days and demanded a second post-mortem at AIIMS Delhi.
Reiterating the demand for a fresh autopsy at AIIMS Delhi, the protesters at the Jantar Mantar alleged inconsistencies in the handling of the case and demanded that her medical records be independently examined here.
&ldquo;We want justice for Twisha. The case should be transferred to the CBI. We can&rsquo;t get justice in Bhopal,&rdquo; Kunal Chauhan, a friend of Twisha, said.
He also said that Twisha&rsquo;s parents and her brother have decided to remain in Bhopal for the time being, as they are not dissatisfied with the inquiry.
On whether Twisha&rsquo;s friends were aware of her situation after her marriage, Chauhan claimed that she had been isolated by her in-laws.
&ldquo;We did not leave her alone; her in-laws alienated her,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;We are not satisfied with the post-mortem conducted in Bhopal. We want her medical records to be examined at AIIMS Delhi,&rdquo; he added.
According to Twisha&rsquo;s relatives, she wanted to leave Bhopal and return to Noida.
They also claimed that she remained in touch with them until around 10 pm on Tuesday, shortly before her death.
ACP Rajneesh Kashyap, who is heading an SIT formed in Bhopal to probe the case, had said that an FIR under BNS provisions related to dowry death and harassment had been registered against Samarth and his mother.

Two people have been taken into custody, they said. The incident took place under the Ecotech-1 police station limits around 10 am when three men allegedly opened fire at the victim, identified as Nitin, a resident of Luksar village, they said.&nbsp;
According to police, the attack was captured on CCTV cameras. The footage purportedly shows two men firing at Nitin, and seconds later a third person joining them in assaulting him as he tried to save himself.&nbsp;
In the video, one of the attackers is also seen pointing a gun at a woman who stepped out of her house after hearing the gunshots.&nbsp;
Sudhir Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida), said, "On Tuesday, Sachin and others fired upon Nitin, a resident of Luksar village, under the limits of Ecotech-1 police station. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of old enmity."&nbsp;
He said the injured man was immediately rushed to a hospital, where he died during treatment. Senior police officials and a forensic team inspected the spot.&nbsp;
A case has been registered based on a complaint lodged by the victim's family, and multiple police teams have been formed to probe the matter.&nbsp;
"Acting swiftly after examining the CCTV footage, police have taken two persons into custody. Further legal proceedings are underway and efforts are on to apprehend the remaining accused," the Additional DCP said. Further investigation is in progress, police added.

Police have lodged another FIR against five builders for alleged environmental and pollution law violations linked to a waterlogged pit in Noida&rsquo;s Sector 150 that led to a software engineer&rsquo;s death, even as an SIT probe continues.

Another FIR has been lodged against five builders of Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd and MZ Wiztown Planners Pvt Ltd for alleged violations of environmental and pollution laws in connection with a large waterlogged pit in Sector 150, which led to the death of a software engineer, officials said on Thursday.
The FIR has been lodged even as a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday continued its probe into the matter on the third day.
Officials aware of the developments said the SIT has sought details from various departments of the Noida Authority, including civil, projects, and traffic cell, about works done in Sector 150, particularly around the spot where the software engineer died.
The three-member team has to submit its report to the government by Saturday, SIT head ADG (Meerut Zone) Bhanu Bhaskar had told reporters on the first day of inspections here.
On Wednesday, a fresh case was registered at the Knowledge Park police station against Abhay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Manish Kumar, Anchal Bohra and Nirmal Kumar under Section 15 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, Sections 24 and 43 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Sections 290, 270 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), according to the FIR.
In the complaint, local sub-inspector Regal Kumar said that during patrolling on January 20, a "very large and wide pit" was found at plot number SC-02/A3 in Sector 150, close to a public road.
The pit appeared to have been excavated using heavy machinery and had remained filled with water for several years, it said.
The FIR noted that the pit is very deep and that prolonged stagnation of water has led to severe pollution, with the water turning muddy.
It added that rainwater had carried garbage into the pit, contributing to air pollution and posing risks to public health and safety.
Police further noted that no fencing, warning signs or other safety measures were found around the pit.
Leaving such a large, open and waterlogged pit near a public road for a long period posed a serious threat to human life and increased the risk of major accidents, the FIR stated, terming it a public nuisance.
The FIR also mentioned that the construction sites were located close to the pit, indicating violations of construction management norms.
Locals have also complained that the foul smell from the stagnant water makes breathing difficult when the wind blows towards residential areas.
During the inquiry, police found that the plot was purchased from the Noida Authority in 2014 by Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd and was later acquired in 2020 by Wiztown.
The FIR also stated that Lotus Greens Construction continues to hold a share in the property.
"The FIR has been registered against five builders; further investigation is on," Assistant Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Hemant Upadhyay said.
The police had registered the first FIR in the case on January 18 based on the complaint of the deceased software engineer Yuvraj Mehta's father against MZ Wiztown Planners and Lotus Greens under provisions related to negligence, culpable homicide not amounting to murder and endangering life.
The police on Tuesday arrested Abhay Kumar, the director of MZ Wiztown Planners, who was remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday, officials said.

The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has ordered an immediate overhaul of road safety measures across its jurisdiction in the wake of the death of a software engineer in neighbouring Noida after his car plunged into a water-filled pit.
GNIDA Chief Executive Officer N G Ravi Kumar directed officials to identify and promptly fill all potholes on or near roads and to mark accident-prone "black spots" without delay, according to an official statement issued Monday evening.
He also instructed that essential safety measures, including directional signage, reflectors and barricading, be implemented on all roads within three days.
The directions come in the wake of the January 16 incident in Noida's Sector 150, where a 27-year-old software engineer died after his vehicle fell into an unbarricaded, water-filled excavation near an under-construction site, triggering allegations of negligence and a statewide road safety drive ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Following the CEO's instructions, GNIDA held an online review meeting with Additional CEOs Srilakshmi VS and Sumit Yadav, General Manager A K Singh and officials from all work circles, the statement said.
"All assistant managers, managers and senior managers have been directed to survey their respective areas, identify potholes, sharp turns and black spots, and ensure immediate corrective measures," it said, adding that officials have been given three days to complete the task.
Teams from the authority's project department have begun field surveys to identify accident-prone locations. Measures underway include the installation of road markers, cat's eyes, reflective paint on central verge walls, barricades along open drains and speed breakers on link roads connecting to main arteries.
Additional CEO Sumit Yadav inspected the 130-metre road and areas in Sectors 2 and 3, and warned strict action against work circles found negligent, the statement said.
The authority has also directed its electrical engineering department to ensure proper street lighting on all roads, with testing of lights to be completed at the earliest. Builders have been instructed to strictly comply with safety norms at construction sites.
Additional CEO Srilakshmi VS informed that all work circles would be required to submit affidavits certifying that safety measures had been implemented at accident-prone locations in their respective areas.
She added that the project department was taking all necessary steps to prevent road accidents and appealed to motorists to follow traffic rules.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday removed the Noida Authority CEO and ordered an SIT probe into the death of the software engineer whose car plunged into a water-filled pit at an under-construction site in Noida's Sector 150, triggering widespread outrage, protests and allegations of official and developer negligence.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and directed the constitution of a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the circumstances leading to the fatal accident and submit a report within five days.
Shortly after, the state government shunted out Lokesh M, a 2005-batch senior IAS officer, from the post of Noida Authority CEO and placed him on a waitlist, according to an official order.
Lokesh M, who had assumed charge as Noida Authority CEO in July 2023 after replacing Ritu Maheshwari, also served as the de facto managing director of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). A qualified dentist from Karnataka, he had earlier served as divisional commissioner in Kanpur and Saharanpur.
Only a day earlier amid mounting criticism, Lokesh M ordered the termination of a junior engineer and issued show-cause notices to other officials responsible for traffic-related works in Sector 150.
In an official statement, the Authority removed junior engineer Naveen Kumar of the Noida Traffic Cell from service and sought detailed reports on the allotment and construction activities of the developer, Lotus Greens.
The now-removed CEO also directed all departments to re-inspect safety measures at ongoing construction sites to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
A UP Irrigation Department letter to the Noida Authority in 2023 that flagged the need to construct head regulators to flush out accumulated rain and drain water in Sector 150 has been accessed by PTI. A Noida Authority official said he was not aware of the letter.
On the chief minister's directions, a three-member SIT headed by Additional Director General (ADG), Meerut Zone, Bhanu Bhasker, has been constituted.
Meerut Divisional Commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar and Public Works Department Chief Engineer Ajay Verma are members of the panel.
"The team has been asked to conduct a detailed investigation and submit its report to the chief minister within five days," an official statement said.
SIT member Ajay Verma told PTI that the panel would visit Noida on Tuesday, adding that it was too early to comment on details.
The action follows the death of Yuvraj Mehta, a 27-year-old software engineer, who was killed in the early hours of Saturday after his car allegedly skidded in dense fog, broke a drain boundary and fell into a deep, waterlogged pit dug for a basement at an under-construction commercial site near a drain.
Mehta, a resident of Tata Eureka Park society, worked with a Gurugram-based company and was returning home late at night when the accident occurred.
His body was recovered after a prolonged search operation involving the fire department, police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
The post-mortem examination conducted on Monday revealed that Mehta died due to asphyxia followed by cardiac arrest, police said. The report noted that his nose was blocked with mud and water, indicating drowning.
His last rites were performed later in the day in Haridwar in the presence of his father Raj Kumar Mehta and other family members.
The incident has sparked allegations of negligence, inadequate safety arrangements and delays in rescue efforts, with his father saying he had reached the spot and police, other rescue personnel were also there but they could not save him.
"If expert divers could have gone in, then maybe my son would have been saved. Yuvraj kept crying for help as the car drowned," he lamented while speaking to reporters.
An eyewitness, Monidra, a delivery agent, alleged that timely intervention could have saved the techie.
Local residents staged protests over the weekend, accusing authorities and developers of ignoring repeated complaints about waterlogging, lack of barricading and absence of reflectors near the drain and construction site.
Police have registered an FIR against two real estate developers -- M/s Wishtown Planners and Lotus Greens -- under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 106 (causing death by negligence) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and other relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The FIR was lodged at Knowledge Park police station on a complaint by Mehta's father.
"There was no barricading or reflective signage around the plot, which led to the accident. It alleged gross negligence on the part of the planners and developers," he said, demanding accountability, saying he wanted action to ensure "nobody else loses their son like this" in future.
Further scrutiny has emerged over ignored warnings related to drainage in the area.
An official communication issued by the Uttar Pradesh Irrigation Department in 2023, accessed by PTI, had flagged the need to construct head regulators in Sector 150 to flush out accumulated rainwater and drain discharge by channelising it into the Hindon river.
The letter also mentioned that budgetary provisions had been made for the proposed work while an estimate budget running into crore was prepared in 2023, but the project was never taken up.
Locals said the tragedy could have been avoided had the head regulators been constructed, as the accumulated water would not have stagnated at the site.
A head regulator regulates water flow and prevents excess silt and water accumulation in drains and canals.
When contacted, a Noida Authority official on Monday said they were not aware of the Irrigation Department's letter.
Officials said the partially constructed basement where Mehta's car fell had accumulated water not only due to rainfall but also because of continuous discharge from drains connected to nearby residential societies.
With restrictions on releasing excess water into the Hindon river, the water level at the site kept rising over time.
Following protests, the Noida Authority installed barricades at the site.
Reacting to the incident, Gautam Buddh Nagar MP and BJP leader Mahesh Sharma described the techie's death as "sad and disturbing".
"Such an incident should not have happened in a place like Noida. Even after it occurred, arrangements that should have been available were lacking, which adds to the concern," Sharma told PTI Videos, adding that accountability must be fixed to set an example.
Lotus Greens, one of the developers named in the FIR, said it had no role in the incident, claiming the plot was transferred in 2019-20 to the Grihapravesh Group with the approval of the Noida Authority.
"We fully condemn the incident. However, Lotus Greens has no role to play as the said plot was transferred... and they are the current directors of the entity holding the plot," a spokesperson of the company said, adding that it stands with the family in seeking justice.

The victim has been identified as Yuvraj, a resident of Sector 150, Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar. His body was recovered following a search operation conducted by SDRF and NDRF teams and has been sent for post-mortem examination.
Speaking to the reporters, Yuvraj&rsquo;s father, Rajkumar Mehta, said his son struggled in the water for nearly two hours.
&ldquo;My son was struggling to save himself. My son was crying out for help, asking people to help him, but most of the crowd was just watching. Some people were making videos. My son struggled for 2 hours to save his life. The officials and staff present were unable to save him. They did not have any divers. There is negligence on the part of the administration in this entire matter,&rdquo; he alleged, demanding strict action and improved safety arrangements to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Joint Commissioner of Police Rajeev Narain Mishra described the incident as &ldquo;very tragic&rdquo; and said the police stand with the victim&rsquo;s family. He added that rescue efforts were initiated immediately using fire brigade ladders, cranes, searchlights, and a makeshift boat, noting that visibility was near zero at the time.
Satish Pal, Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Noida Authority, said an investigation is underway to determine responsibility. &ldquo;The investigation will reveal whose land it was, to whom it was allotted, and who was responsible for its maintenance. That road is in an area that is not yet a fully developed sector,&rdquo; he said, assuring action once the inquiry is completed.
According to police, the accident occurred when Yuvraj&rsquo;s car broke through the boundary of a drain at the Sector 150 intersection and fell into the water.

Police recover inflammable substance and fresh videos in Nikki Bhati&rsquo;s suspected dowry death case, prompting a re-examination of statements.

The investigation into the suspected dowry death of Nikki Bhati has taken a new turn after the recovery of an inflammable substance from her room and the emergence of fresh video clips, prompting police to revisit the timeline of the August 21 incident, a senior officer said on Wednesday.
The officer, who is part of the probe, said the inflammable solution found in Nikki's room has been sent for forensic analysis.
Police are also collating and examining multiple short video clips, which are surfacing in the public domain in connection with the August 21 incident.
The new findings seem to mark a shift from earlier allegations that Nikki (26) was set on fire with a flammable liquid by her husband Vipin Bhati and his family.
Police will also re-examine the statement of Nikki's sister Kanchan, who shot a video of the alleged incident, lodged the FIR and claimed to have tried to intervene in the matter.
Kanchan is married to Nikki&rsquo;s brother-in-law, Rohit Bhati. Vipin, Rohit, Nikki&rsquo;s father-in-law Satyavir and mother-in-law Daya have been arrested for the alleged dowry murder in Greater Noida last Thursday.
"Fresh videos, including one showing the mother-in-law appearing to separate Nikki and Vipin during a fight, and another reportedly filmed by Kanchan in which a voice could be heard saying, 'Yeh kya kar liya (what have you done)&rsquo;, have surfaced after initial questioning. Kanchan's statement will be re-examined," the officer said, adding that around a dozen statements from both families have been recorded so far.
Police are analysing CCTV camera footage showing Vipin standing outside his home minutes before the incident, besides probing a separate assault case registered against him last October in Greater Noida's Jarcha area.
That FIR was lodged against Vipin and his associate Tushar in October last year on charges of assaulting a 21-year-old woman named Preeti from the nearby Anandpur village.
The duo was also accused of forcibly taking away her phone and threatening to kill her. Additional DCP (Greater Noida), Sudheer Kumar, said a probe into that case is underway and action will be taken based on its findings.
Nikki was found with severe burn injuries at her home in Sirsa village on August 21. She died en route a Delhi hospital.
A memo from the private hospital where she was first admitted to mentioned she had "suffered severe burns in a gas cylinder explosion at home", and was brought there in a critical condition by Vipin&rsquo;s cousin Devendra.
However, Nikki's elder sister Kanchan alleged in her FIR that Nikki was deliberately set ablaze by Vipin, his mother Daya, father Satveer, and brother Rohit after being beaten.
She alleged that Nikki faced persistent dowry harassment despite their 2016 marriage being solemnised "without dowry&rdquo;, claiming that her family already gave a Scorpio SUV, a motorcycle and jewellery to the Bhati family, yet they were being pressured to shell out another Rs 36 lakh and a luxury car.
Vipin was shot in the leg on August 25 when he allegedly attempted to flee police custody.
His cousin Devendra claimed he took Nikki to the hospital along with Vipin's parents, and recalled her repeatedly asking for water and saying she felt suffocated. He also corroborated Vipin's presence at a local shop around the time of the incident.
Nikki and Kanchan's father, Bhikari Singh, has demanded "harshest punishment" for Vipin, urging Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intervene in the matter.
He also rejected claims that social media activities of his daughters triggered the killing, insisting that reels "were not the reason&rdquo;, and that he gave them Rs 1.5 lakh to open a beauty parlour to support themselves.
The FIR against the Bhatis was filed at the Kasna police station on August 22 under sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 61(2) (attempt to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).&nbsp;

The footage from outside a shop near the Bhati family's home shows a youth, who locals claimed was Vipin, standing behind a car and then suddenly running.
Moments later, he returns and hurries towards the car parked nearby. Soon after, an elderly man and several locals are seen rushing toward the Bhatis' residence, while women from the neighbourhood appear visibly panicked.
Police said the video has been taken into account in the ongoing investigation and stressed that conclusions will be drawn only after verifying all facts.
"It is a part of our investigation. Whatever facts come out, action will be taken accordingly. The investigation will cover all possible angles and suitable action will follow upon its completion," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Sudheer Kumar told PTI.
Police are yet to ascertain the authenticity of the video.
On August 21, Nikki (26) was allegedly beaten, doused with a flammable liquid, and set on fire by Vipin and her in-laws at their Sirsa home. She succumbed to her injuries while being taken to a hospital in Delhi, police said.
Disturbing videos of Nikki's final moments, including one showing her engulfed in flames, reportedly filmed by her elder sister Kanchan, have been doing the rounds on social media.
Vipin, his parents Satveer and Daya, and brother Rohit have been arrested in the case. Vipin was shot in the leg on Sunday while he was allegedly attempting to escape police custody.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has sought a time-bound investigation into the case and strict action against the accused. It has also demanded protection for Nikki's family and witnesses.
The victim's relatives have alleged that she was tortured for dowry since her marriage to Vipin in 2016. They claimed they had already given a Scorpio SUV, motorcycle, and jewellery but were later pressured for Rs 36 lakh in cash and a luxury car.
The Bhati family's neighbours in Sirsa village also pointed to domestic tensions over Nikki and her sister's social media activities, but her family has dismissed these claims, insisting that dowry harassment was the sole reason behind the killing.
The FIR in the case was registered at Kasna police station on August 22 under sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 61(2) (attempt to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The father-in-law and brother-in-law of Nikki Bhati, the 26-year-old woman who was allegedly burnt alive over dowry demands in Greater Noida, have been arrested, police said on Monday.
The accused, identified as Satveer Bhati (55) and Rohit Bhati (28), were arrested by Kasna Police near Sirsa Toll Chauraha following a tip-off and manual intelligence inputs, the police said in a statement.
An official told PTI that both the arrests were made separately with some time difference between the two.
Nikki's husband Vipin Bhati, brother Rohit, mother and father are among those mentioned as accused in the FIR. All four have been arrested.
A case had been registered against the four at Kasna Police Station on August 22 under sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), and 61(2) (attempting to commit offences punishable with life imprisonment or others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police said Rohit had been absconding since the incident that sparked outrage across the region.

Disturbing videos of the assault, recorded by Nikki's elder sister Kanchan, who is married into the same family, circulated widely on social media. One clip showed Nikki being dragged by her hair, while another showed her walking down the stairs in flames before collapsing.
Vipin Bhati was arrested on Saturday and later shot in the leg during an alleged attempt to escape police custody on Sunday. His mother, Daya (55), was also arrested the same day. Police said Vipin had snatched a sub-inspector's gun and fired at officers while being escorted to recover evidence, prompting police to retaliate.
The case has drawn widespread attention as Nikki's family alleged she faced years of torture and escalating dowry demands since her marriage in 2016. They said they had already given a Scorpio SUV, a motorcycle, and gold jewellery to her in-laws, but the demands later increased to Rs 36 lakh in cash and even a luxury car.
Her elder sister Kanchan, who is married in the same family and witnessed the incident, told reporters that Nikki was assaulted in front of her minor son. She also told police that Nikki was allegedly doused with a flammable liquid and set on fire.
Nikki succumbed to her injuries while being taken to a hospital in Delhi, according to police.
The victim's father Bhikahri Singh had said his daughters Kanchan and Nikki were married to brothers Rohit Bhati and Vipin Bhati, respectively, in 2016.
"Since then they have been torturing both the daughters and demanded dowry," he had alleged.

As many as 76 students were hospitalised due to suspected food poisoning after having dinner made for those observing Mahashivratri fast at a private hostel in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Greater Noida, police said on Saturday.
The students, who are enrolled at different colleges, had the dinner on Friday after which many of them complained of uneasiness, dizziness and vomiting, police said.
The students were staying at Aryan Residency in the Knowledge Park area &mdash; an educational hub &mdash; and had &lsquo;puris&rsquo; made of &lsquo;kuttu ka atta&rsquo; (buckwheat flour) on account of Mahashivratri on Friday.
&ldquo;The local police are seized of the incident which took place on Friday evening after around 76 students had their dinner and then complained of their stomachs getting upset. All the students were taken to different hospitals and their condition is stable now,&rdquo; police said in a statement.
There is no law and order issue due to the incident and the matter is being probed, it added.
Meanwhile, a team of the local food safety department rushed to the site for an inspection.
&ldquo;The team will collect samples of food items and raw materials used to prepare the dinner. The samples would be analysed and legal proceedings initiated accordingly,&rdquo; an official told PTI.
Students said they had dinner which was cooked separately for them owing to their fast.
&ldquo;We had dinner at around 9.30 pm. I started feeling dizzy by 10.30 pm and then went to sleep. Some friends then noticed that a lot of students had started complaining of dizziness, uneasiness, vomiting,&rdquo; said Piyush, a student recuperating at a private hospital.
&ldquo;My body started trembling around midnight and I felt feverish and dizzy. Two of my roommates and I were then brought to the emergency department here. Some others in my hostel were vomiting too,&rdquo; another student Kushal told reporters at the Kailash Hospital.&nbsp;

Cops have arrested Gehlot, his father, two cousins, and two friends, so far. Gehlot allegedly killed his wife Nikki and stuffed her body in a refrigerator at a 'dhaba' in order to marry another woman.
Gehlot had married Yadav at an Arya Samaj temple in 2020. The couple had not informed their respective families about their marriage. "However, when Gehlot's parents started looking for a girl for his marriage and started pressuring him to take interest in marriage..., he finally revealed to his family that he was already married," a police officer said earlier.
When Gehlot's family got to know about his marriage to Yadav, they expressed their displeasure over him marrying a girl of his choice without informing them.

However, the accused were arrested as a preventive measure under section 151 (arrest to prevent a cognizable offence without orders from magistrate) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), Bisrakh police station in-charge Anil Kumar Rajput said.
