Android users can now experience improved Android app download speed as they are able to download multiple apps at once. Previously restricted to downloading a single app at a time, the Play Store now supports two apps downloading concurrently. &nbsp;
This feature is part of the Play Store download queue management enhancements and is initially available on devices like Pixel smartphones running version 40.6.31 of the Play Store.&nbsp;

Despite the advancement, the current Android download limit allows only two simultaneous app downloads. Additional apps will remain in the queue, labeled as "Pending" until one of the initial downloads completes. &nbsp;
This setup is a departure from initial reports which suggested the possibility of up to five apps. It is anticipated that future updates may increase this limit.&nbsp;

Google has reportedly been working on this feature since 2019, with simultaneous app downloads finally included after five years of being in the pipeline. Google and Indian startups have agreed to pause the dispute over the Google App billing policy for four months, reported Business Standard. As per the report, Google will continue to in-voice the bills for its full applicable services fees in the interim. However, the tech giant will extend the time for the payment until a resolution is achieved.

Google on Friday, delisted certain Indian apps from its play store over non-compliance to its billing rules. Startups that have developed these apps have been engaged in a tussle with Google over the past three years.

On Tuesday, Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology has met with representatives of Google and Startup community and said that the American tech giant has agreed to list all the applications &amp; restore their status as it was on Friday.&nbsp;
"Google and start-up company, both have met with us. We have had very constructive discussions and finally, Google has agreed to list all the Apps as on the status which was there on Friday morning (1st March), that status will be restored. Google has been supporting our technology development journey and we believe that in the coming months, both start-up company and Google will come to a long-term resolution", said Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The IT minister had been supportive of the Indian Startup eco-system and had said that Google's actions can not be permitted.
Anupam Mittal, chief executive officer of People Group, which runs Shaadi.com, thanked union ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Rajeev Chandrasekhar for their intervention in the dispute.
&ldquo;Thanks to the tireless efforts of a handful of founders and your support, the Indian startup ecosystem sighed a sigh of relief yesterday when Google was compelled to defer its decision to impose monopolistic lagan (levy), albeit temporarily,&rdquo; Mittal posted in X (formerly Twitter).
He further added that both startups and Google has agreed upon a 120 day period to come up with a solution that is non-monopolistic and reflects free-market forces.&nbsp;
Playstores usually levy 15-30% fee for in-app purchases and subscriptions for those using Google&rsquo;s billing system. For developers that choose its third-party billing option, Google levies a commission of 11-26%, marking a reduction of 4% on the service fee.

Google has initiated the removal of several prominent Indian apps from its Play Store, citing violations of its app billing policy. Among the affected apps are those owned by Info Edge, including Naukri, 99acres, and Shiksha.
Info Edge confirmed the removals in an exchange filing, disclosing that Google had taken down five of its apps, including the flagship Naukri app, Naukri Recruiter, Naukrigulf Job Search App, 99acres, and Shiksha. The company expressed surprise at the abrupt action taken by Google, stating that they were not given sufficient notice.
Info Edge stated that it is currently evaluating its next steps and working with Google to reinstate its mobile applications promptly.
This development is part of Google's broader effort to enforce its app billing policy, which it claims several Indian app developers have violated over an extended period. This purge includes various other apps, such as matrimony services Matrimony and Shaadi.com, streaming platforms Altt, Stage, and Aha, dating apps Truly Madly and Quack Quack, audio content platform Kuku FM, and social networking app FRND.
The move follows the Supreme Court's decision on February 9, 2024, not to issue an interim order protecting internet firms from delisting. The court set a hearing for March 19, prompting concerns among app developers.
Google asserts that enforcing its policy is essential to maintain a level playing field in the ecosystem. The company claims that over 200,000 Indian developers on Google Play adhere to its policies.
Developers whose apps are delisted can resubmit them by integrating any of three billing options provided by Google. These options include using Google Play's billing system, an alternate billing system alongside Google Play's, or operating on a consumption-only basis without a service fee.
