A man from Saudi Arabia flew to Delhi to meet UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to seek help for his brother, who is undergoing treatment for a terminal illness.
As per media reports, the man, identified as 35-year-old Mohammed Gharawi, claimed to be a policeman.&nbsp;
He reached Taj Mansingh Hotel in Delhi in a car with a G20 security clearance sticker.
He was, however, stopped at the hotel lobby by security personnel when he tried to approach the UAE President but was later allowed to meet him.
The man was taken into custody by Delhi Police and was released after hours of interrogation by investigative agencies.

Traffic restrictions and the closure of markets and malls caused a sharp decline in sales for businesses both within and outside the summit's controlled zone. Dine-in and delivery orders saw a severe drop of at least 50% in Delhi, while sales in the National Capital Region (NCR) plummeted by approximately 20%.&nbsp;
Additionally, the summit's timing coincided with a long weekend, further exacerbating the economic impact. Lite Bite Foods Director, Rohit Aggarwal, reported a 50% decline in sales in Delhi and a 20% impact on sales in Gurgaon for their chains, including Punjab Grill, Zambar, and YouMee.

The African Union, a body of 55 member countries, on Sept 9, 2023, formally joined the G20, with PM Modi proposing its entry to the grouping and other leaders agreeing to it.

Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family. As a manifestation of this theme for G20, India pushed for the inclusion of the African Union into the Group of 20 countries as a full member.
On September 9, the first day of the G20 summit hosted by India, the African Union became a permanent member of the bloc.&nbsp;
The African Union is a bloc of 55 countries which was officially launched in 2002. The AU is a successor of the Organisation of African Unity.
Whereas the OAU was focused on decolonisation and ending apartheid, the African Union aims to increase cooperation among African countries to drive the continent's economic development.
Since the G20 had similar economic origins, the induction of the African Union seems fitting.
It was in 2010 that the African Union was first invited to attend the G20 summit as a guest.
Then in 2017, the G20 Compact With Africa was launched for deeper engagement.
This year in February, the AU summit adopted a formal resolution to become a G20 member.
In June, PM Modi wrote to other G20 leaders advocating AU's demand.
The same month, America and Italy voiced their support for the AU. Recently, China said that it also backs AU's G20 membership.
There are many benefits that would accrue to both the G20 and the African Union with this expansion.
With Africa added to the list, G20 will now represent 80% of the world population, as compared to around 60% currently.
It will also give Africa a voice in major decisions related to the economy, energy, climate, and other issues.
Another plus point will be relieving of pressure on South Africa which has so far been the lone African representative at the G20.
Finally, AU's full participation in G20 can lead to improved use of resources since the continent is a major source of important raw materials to the EU like cobalt and bauxite.&nbsp;

"I am very much delighted to attend the G20 summit. I have heard that leaders of at least 20 nations will participate in the meeting and I will showcase the kundra bati madia (finger millets) and the tribal method of cultivating it," said an ecstatic Raimati.
The woman emphasized the importance of better technology and scientific farming methods introduced by the Odisha Millet Mission (OMM), which has significantly improved the yield and quality of millet farming in the district.
"I will share my experience on the benefits of better technology and scientific farming methods introduced by the OMM since 2017 in our area," she said.

The government had recently invested over ₹3 crore in the renovation of Connaught Place, making it more appealing to shoppers and tourists. However, this significant investment is now at risk of yielding no returns during the summit.
Atul Bhargava, President of the New Delhi Traders Association, states to Money Control that the closure of Connaught Place during a weekend is likely to result in substantial losses. Typically, the market witnesses a daily turnover of approximately ₹100 crore to ₹150 crore. However, with no foot traffic expected during the summit, traders anticipate cumulative losses in the range of ₹350 crore to ₹450 crore.
Bhargava highlighted the irony that the market, which had been revamped in anticipation of the G20 Summit, would remain closed due to the very same event. On regular weekends, Connaught Place attracts an impressive 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh visitors.
In addition to Connaught Place, other prominent markets in the New Delhi district, such as Bengali Market and Khan Market, will also be closed during the summit. Traders in these areas anticipate a similar negative impact on their businesses.
The 18th G20 Summit, taking place at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, will see the participation of over 25 world leaders and their delegates. To ensure security, all entry and exit points around the summit venue, the newly-constructed Bharat Mandapam convention center, will be tightly regulated. As a result, all establishments, including schools, offices, restaurants, malls, and markets, will remain closed in New Delhi from September 8 to 10, causing significant economic disruption to the city's businesses.

The G20 Leaders' Summit will take place on September 9-10 at the newly-built international convention and exhibition centre -- Bharat Mandapam -- at the Pragati Maidan.
"Besides, special exhibitions and cultural activities at the main Summit venue, an event is also being hosted for the spouses of the leaders at the Jaipur House that is home to the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA)," an official source said.
The NGMA possesses a rich collection of artworks, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and other forms of art. It comes under the Ministry of Culture.
"They (spouses of heads of states) will be treated to a special lunch at the Jaipur House, and the menu will include millet-based delicacies," another source told PTI.

Delhi-NCR companies are gearing up to ensure a seamless work experience for their employees during the upcoming G20 Summit weekend. As India prepares to host this prestigious international event, firms are rolling out work-from-home arrangements to tackle logistical challenges.
The G20 Summit, slated for September 9-10, will see leaders from 29 countries and top officials from the European Union and other guest nations converging in New Delhi. Anticipating the event's magnitude, the Delhi government has issued a traffic advisory, prompting the closure of all private and government offices in the capital from September 8 to 10. Furthermore, banks and commercial establishments, including markets, in the New Delhi district will remain shuttered during this three-day period.
In response, companies in the region are rallying behind their employees. NIIT Limited, headquartered in Noida, has taken the lead by introducing flexible work-from-home options for the G20 weekend. Mita Brahma, HR Head at NIIT Limited, stressed the importance of empathizing with the potential commuting challenges faced by employees based in Delhi.
Similarly, Gurugram-based e-commerce platform Shiprocket has aligned itself with the government's efforts. Saumya Khati, SVP &amp; Head of HR at Shiprocket, affirmed that the company is proactively facilitating work-from-home arrangements for both Delhi employees and those commuting from Delhi to their Gurugram headquarters.

Prime minister Narendra Modi has shrugged off China and Pakistan's objections over G20 events conducted in Kashmir and Arunachal in March this year. PM's remarks came while speaking to news agency PTI ahead of G20 summit.&nbsp;
During the interaction PM asserted, "Such a question would be valid if we had refrained from conducting meetings in those venues. Ours is such a vast, beautiful and diverse nation. When G20 meetings are happening, isn&rsquo;t it natural that meetings will be held in every part of our country,"

Delegates of all G20 countries, barring China, visited the picturesque Valley for the event. A large number of delegates had also visited Arunachal Pradesh in March for a G20 event.
China, a G20 member, and Pakistan, which is not a member of the bloc, had objected to the decision to hold one of the events in Kashmir, which they call "disputed".
