A recent study has found that people who enjoy experiencing JOMO may have high levels of social anxiety.

Researchers from the Washington State University found that people who enjoy experiencing JOMO or the 'joy of missing out', tend to have higher levels of social anxiety.&nbsp;
The research was conducted after surveying 500 participants. And, during the survey loneliness, social anxiety, social media use, personality traits and life satisfaction were assessed.
Previous research has linked FOMO or the 'fear of missing out' to low self-esteem and loneliness.

You must've heard of (or maybe used) terms like FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) or JOMO (Joy of Missing Out). Another slang doing rounds on social networks and the online world is ROMO or the relief of missing out.
Particularly prevalent among Gen Zs and zoomers, FOMO often evokes an overuse of the internet, so that they do not miss the slightest bit of information.
However, there's also a shift in seeking any negative information as more internet users are turning away from the news. People are voluntarily avoiding the media and social platforms for their better well-being.

According to researchers, people are carefully consuming news as it can provoke their anxiety and stress and can also lead to feelings of powerlessness.
