Keep 90s for fashion, not for slangs; ROMO is here!

You must've heard of (or maybe used) terms like FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) or JOMO (Joy of Missing Out). Another slang doing rounds on social networks and the online world is ROMO or the relief of missing out.

Particularly prevalent among Gen Zs and zoomers, FOMO often evokes an overuse of the internet, so that they do not miss the slightest bit of information.

However, there's also a shift in seeking any negative information as more internet users are turning away from the news. People are voluntarily avoiding the media and social platforms for their better well-being.

This new concept emerging on the internet is ROMO or 'the relief of missing out', i.e., the relief of being oblivious to an event or news item.

According to researchers, people are carefully consuming news as it can provoke their anxiety and stress and can also lead to feelings of powerlessness.

So, next time when someone cribs about FOMO, you can definitely brag about ROMO.

Also watch: Are you an overachiever or just a person with high-functioning anxiety?
