Farhan Akhtar is back! After teasing a sneak peek last week, Farhan on September 4 (Wednesday) announced a new film, titled '120 Bahadur'. Inspired by real-life events, the upcoming venture will see him playing the role of an Army officer - Maj Shaitan Singh PVC, who was awarded the Param Vir Chakra posthumously for his 'C' company's dig-in at Rezang La pass during the Sino-India conflict of 1962.
<h3>'A story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness'&nbsp;</h3>
Farhan took to his Instagram account to share a carousel of motion and still posters. He wrote, "What they accomplished will never be forgotten. It is an absolute privilege to bring you the story of Maj. Shaitan Singh PVC and the soldiers of Charlie Company, 13 Kumaon regiment.
Famously known as the Battle of Rezang La, fought on the 18th of November 1962 during the Indo-China war, it is a story of remarkable courage, heroism and selflessness shown by our men in uniform against all odds. We are grateful to the Indian Army for their support in bringing this incredible tale of valour to the screen. We embark today to make this film in all humility and with utmost respect to those we represent."
The film will be directed by Razneesh "Razy" Ghai, and bankrolled by Farhan's Excel Entertainment. Details surrounding the film's release date and additional cast members are yet to be revealed.

About &lsquo;Lakshya&rsquo;
Released three years after Farhan Akhtar's debut, &lsquo;Dil Chahta Hai&rsquo;, Lakshya faced high expectations but didn't match its predecessor's success. However, it left a lasting impact as a coming-of-age tale set against the backdrop of the fictionalized 1999 Kargil War. Starring Hrithik Roshan, the film hit screens in 2004 and now celebrates its 20th anniversary.
Although Hrithik Roshan starred in the film, he wasn't director Farhan Akhtar's first choice for Lakshya. The role was initially offered to Arjun Rampal, but due to scheduling conflicts, Hrithik stepped in. The movie also featured Preity Zinta, Boman Irani, and Amitabh Bachchan.
Despite a strong cast, &lsquo;Lakshya&rsquo; underperformed at the box office, earning just 230 million domestically, and was deemed a 'flop.' However, it has since gained a cult following and is highly appreciated by Hrithik's fans.

Farhan Akhtar is celebrating his 50th birthday today and wishes are pouring in for him on social media from family, friends, and fans. On the special occasion, veteran actor Shabana Azmi took to Instagram and posted a sweet birthday wish for her stepson along with a picture from their midnight celebrations.&nbsp;
The photograph features Shabana with husband Javed Akhtar and other family members. The party was also attended by Farhan&rsquo;s mother, Honey Irani, sister Zoya Akhtar, wife Shibani Dandekar and her sister Anusha Dandekar.

I have a great relationship with them based on friendship and trust. I value Farhan and Zoya very much and I think they value me. I think a lot of that credit goes to their mom Honey (Irani). I must say that she was very generous.&rsquo;
She also credited Honey for raising Zoya and Farhan to be accepting of her marriage with Javed.
&lsquo;If she had decided that the kids would not be friends with me, then they couldn&rsquo;t have been friends with me. Filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar has been facing a lot of criticism for casting Ranveer Singh in the titular role in &lsquo;Don 3&rsquo;. Ranveer Singh will replace Shah Rukh Khan in this crime thriller franchise.
Addressing the criticism around Ranveer&rsquo;s casting, Farhan assured that he will do &lsquo;great job&rsquo; while playing Don.
In an interview with BBC Asian Network, Farhan remembered how even Shah Rukh was criticised for taking up the role which was once aced by Amitabh Bachchan.
He said, &lsquo;Ranveer is amazing. He&rsquo;s great for the part. He&rsquo;s also, as you can imagine, really excited and really nervous, about the thing you&rsquo;re filling some big shoes before you. But we went through the same emotional process when Shah Rukh did it and everyone was like &lsquo;Oh my God, how can you replace Mr. Bachchan?.&rsquo;That whole thing happened then.&rsquo;
The filmmaker continued, &lsquo;It really is about an actor coming in and owning the part and making it really like, giving it their style and their flair. And he has that, he has that in spades. So, he is going to do a great job. I think the responsibility is more mine now to make sure that the script and the film work out the way I imagine.&rsquo;
Farhan Akhtar also confirmed that he will start shooting for &lsquo;Don 3&rsquo; only in 2025, and he is still in the process of finalising the cast.

His note read, &lsquo;In 1978, a character created by Salim-Javed and portrayed by Mr. Amitabh Bachchan with effortless elan, captured the imagination of theatregoers across the country. That enigmatic character was Don. In 2006, Don was reimagined and brought to life by Shah Rukh Khan in his own irresistibly charming way. From Don's sardonic wit to his cool but menacing fury, Shah Rukh embodied his persona. As writer &amp; director, I had a great time creating not one but two, 'Don' films with Shah Rukh and both experiences remain very close to my heart (sic).&rsquo;
The actor further mentioned, &lsquo;The time has now come to take the legacy of Don forward and joining us in this new interpretation will be an actor whose talent and versatility I have long admired. We hope that you will show him the love you have so graciously and generously shown to Mr Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan. A new era of Don begins in 2025. Watch this space (sic).&rsquo;
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in 'Jawan' with Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 7, 2023.

Soon after Farhan shared the post, fans demanded the return of Shah Rukh Khan in titular role.
According to Pinkvilla, Ranveer has already shot an announcement video. The teaser of the movie will be screened in the cinemas throughout the Independence Day week with Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer &lsquo;Gadar 2&rsquo;.

The third installment of Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Don 3' is in the works. The news has been confirmed by producer Ritesh Sidhwani. In an interview with news agency PTI, he revealed that his partner Farhan Akhtar at Excel Entertainment is currently writing the script and added that he's not aware of the plot details.
Ritesh said, 'We won't do anything until my partner (Farhan Akhtar) finishes writing it. He is currently in the process of finishing the script... We're all looking forward to seeing Don.'
The rights to the 1978 movie of the same name, starring Amitabh Bachchan, were purchased by Farhan and Ritesh's Excel Entertainment banner.
Chandra Barot directed the 1978 film 'Don'. The movie also featured Zeenat Aman, Pran, Iftekhar, Om Shivpuri, and Satyen Kappu in significant roles in addition to Amitabh.

Farhan&nbsp;Akhtar-starrer&nbsp;Toofaan's new romantic track 'Jo Tum Aa Gaye Ho' has been sung by Arijit&nbsp;Singh&nbsp;and penned by Javed Akhtar.

After releasing a high-octane anthem, the makers of 'Toofaan'&nbsp;have dropped the second song of the upcoming sports drama.&nbsp;
The romantic track features&nbsp;Farhan Akhtar and Mrunal Thakur&nbsp;and&nbsp;beautifully portrays their on-screen jugalbandi&nbsp;as they are seen slowly falling in love.
Sung by Arijit&nbsp;Singh, the song has been penned by&nbsp;Javed Akhtar and&nbsp;composed by Samuel and Akanksha.
Directed by&nbsp;Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, 'Toofaan'&nbsp;starts streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 16.
