Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar has dismissed opposition allegations about tampering with EVMs, reiterating that courts have ruled 42 times that the machines are secure and not hackable.

Courts have ruled on 42 occasions that EVMs are not hackable and allegations of tampering are totally baseless, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said on Tuesday, rejecting claims by opposition parties about the voting machines being compromised.
Announcing the schedule of the Delhi Assembly polls, the CEC advised the public against "jhooth ke gubbare" (spreading lies).

"EVMs are commissioned only seven to eight days before polling day and candidates are kept informed through their agents at every step. Courts have ruled on 42 occasions that EVMs are not hackable... allegations of tampering with the machines are totally baseless," Kumar said addressing a press conference.
The CEC reiterated that it is impossible to change voter turnout data and a misconceived narrative is being spread about an increase in voting after 5 pm.
"Disclosure is our main pillar, detailed guidelines and datasets are available on our website," he said.

The decision was announced by Prashant Jagtap, leader of the NCP-Sharad Pawar faction, who lost the Hadapsar seat in Pune.
The move follows a meeting in Delhi on Tuesday evening involving NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar, AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal, and senior Congress leader and lawyer Abhishek Singhvi.
The INDIA bloc claims the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition&rsquo;s overwhelming victory&mdash;securing 235 of the 288 seats&mdash;was influenced by tampered EVMs. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance managed only 46 seats in the assembly.
Sharad Pawar has been meeting party leaders who suffered defeats in the election, fueling the bloc's determination to challenge the results. During the meeting, Arvind Kejriwal also raised concerns about voter lists in Delhi, where assembly elections are scheduled early next year.

In a press conference, Mumbai Suburban Returning Officer, Vandana Suryavanshi made the clarification on Sunday in response to a newspaper report that a relative of Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Waikar was using a phone near the counting centre, trying to hack the EVM.
&nbsp;Opposition leaders, citing the report, once again raised the EVM hacking issue.
"No OTP is needed to unlock the EVM. There is no mobile OTP needed to unlock the EVM as it is a non-programmable offence...It has advanced technical features and there is no communication device on the EVM...It is a technically full-proof system &amp; EVM is a standalone system. It does not require any OTP."
