<p>Women are slowly making in-roads into the shop floors and in traditionally male-dominated roles at automakers, thanks to the adoption of advanced technologies in manufacturing processes. Notably, using the advanced technologies in the manufacturing process require precision handling.&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Women make in-roads</strong></h3>
<p>As per The Economic Times, automobile companies are increasingly looking at hiring more female workers to enrich the talent pool and improve the gender balance in factories, which are getting automated and adopting new technologies in robotics, electric systems and electronics.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Major automotive firms are actively seeking to augment their shopfloor workforce with a substantial influx of female employees, aiming for a representation between 30% and 50%&rdquo;, Subburathinam P, chief strategy officer at staffing firm TeamLease Services, told The Economic Times. &ldquo;Women bring distinct competencies to these roles, such as adeptness in part handling, meticulous attention to detail, integrity and a strong sense of accountability,&rdquo; he added.</p>

<p>The report further mentioned that companies are offering benefits ranging from safe company-sponsored transportation to medical costs to avail of IVF and gender- neutral parental leave to attract female workers.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For instance Hero Motocorp, provides cr&egrave;che facilities and a buddy system. It allows women to take children along with an attendant during business travel for up to six months after returning to work to support returning mothers. Similarly Mercedes Benz India head Santhosh Iyer told The Economic Times that the firm for female employees on the shopfloor has designated personal spaces and a monthly catch-up named &lsquo;Chai and Baatcheet&rsquo; to understand their concerns and challenges and take up any feedback for improvement.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Our efforts are not limited to Mercedes-Benz India alone. In 2024, 4,000-plus women will enjoy educational benefits through Green School Transformation and Bertha Benz Scholarships, to skill graduate trainees. With these initiatives, we will skill the future of India as well as keep a healthy pipeline for hiring within Mercedes-Benz,&rdquo; he told The Economic Times.</p>
<h3><strong>Female workforce at automakers</strong></h3>
<p>As per The Economic Times, Tata Motors has more than 6,500 female shopfloor technicians at its manufacturing facilities that roll out electric cars, SUVs and heavy commercial vehicles. Its flagship Harrier and Safari SUVs are assembled by a 3000 all women's team at the company&rsquo;s plant in Pune. The firm is also planning to hire a quarter of women in its new hires.</p>
<p>&ldquo;In addition to this, we have more than 3,700 women shopfloor technicians actively involved in assembling commercial vehicles, including trucks and buses across our CV plants in Pune, Lucknow, Pantnagar and Jamshedpur,&rdquo; Tata Motors spokesperson told The Economic Times.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The country's largest two-wheeler maker Hero Motocorp has 3,500 women employees at its shopfloors and there are assembly lines led by women at its factories at Tirupati, Haridwar and Neemrana in Rajasthan. The firm is aiming to have women accounting for 30% of its workforce by 2030.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Currently at 14%, we aim to have 30% women in its workforce by 2030, by adopting an integrated approach that focuses on recruitment drives, learning programmes, mentoring and networking opportunities to attract, retain, and grow women workers in multiple roles within the organisation,&rdquo; a spokesperson told The Economic Times.</p>
<p>The report quoted Senior Director of Human resources at MG Motor India, Yeshwinder Patial, and said that his company is working on &ldquo;fostering a balanced approach, ensuring equal representation of women across all functions and will be increasing the number of women in its workforce to 50%.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Meanwhile, at MG Motor India, women account for 34% of its 3,001 workers at the manufacturing unit in Halol, Gujarat.</p>

<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually hand over more than one lakh appointment letters to newly recruited individuals at Rozgar Mela today, February 12th, via video conferencing.</p>
<p>This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to boosting employment opportunities across the nation.</p>
<p>In addition to distributing appointment letters, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the Karmayogi Bhavan Complex in Delhi, a key component of the Karmayogi Mission. This mission aims to enhance collaboration and synergy among various sectors to streamline efforts towards national development.</p>
<p>As part of the Karmayogi Mission, newly appointed individuals will have access to Karmayogi Prarambh, an online training module available on the iGOT Karmayogi portal. This platform offers over 880 e-learning courses, enabling recruits to enhance their skills and capabilities in a flexible, 'anywhere any device' format.</p>
<p>The Rozgar Mela, being held simultaneously at 47 locations across the country, will facilitate recruitments in various Central Government Departments as well as State Governments and Union Territories.</p>
<p>The PMO emphasized that government agencies supporting the Karmayogi Mission consider this initiative a top priority, highlighting the government's commitment to fostering employment opportunities and empowering the youth.</p>
<p>Recruits will be joining various Ministries and Departments, including but not limited to the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Defence, and Ministry of Railways, among others.</p>

<p>A new report by TeamLease has revealed that 79% of employers are intending to hire and retain their employees in the second half of the fiscal year. The report further mentions that consumer and retail companies are expected to see a resurgence in Q4, which follows a quarter of muted demand in Q3.</p>
<p>&ldquo;A striking 79% of the employers surveyed expect an increase in the workforce in their respective industries over the next six months to meet the surging demand. Both new hires, at 79%, and replacement hires, at 74%, are occurring rapidly, indicating a flourishing labour market in the country,&rdquo; stated the report</p>
<h3><strong>TeamLease Report</strong></h3>
<p>According to &lsquo;TeamLease's Employment Outlook Report&rsquo; for H2 FY24 (October 2023 to March 2024), that analysed data from 1,820 companies across 14 cities and employee trends across 22 industries, there is positive sentiment for the financial services sector but advised caution when it comes to banks, NBFCs and fintechs.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The report added that the surge in workforce expansion can be attributed to government policies and initiatives that have cultivated a business-friendly environment.&nbsp;</p>
<p>In terms of new hiring Electric Vehicles and Infrastructure sector lead with 88% followed by Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals at 87%. For replacement hiring, Power and Energy leads the way at 88%, followed by Fast Moving Consumer Durables at 85%, and Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals at 84%.</p>
<p>&ldquo;Observing the dynamic evolution of India's economy, there's a distinctly optimistic tone among employers,&rdquo; said TeamLease Staffing CEO Kartik Narayan, further adding, &ldquo; Despite a slower pace in Q3, this upward trend in employment isn't merely about increasing headcounts; it's a strategic move to leverage economic growth and take advantage of conducive policies, contributing significantly to the country's economic resurgence.&rdquo;</p>
<h3><strong>Demand surge</strong></h3>
<p>As per Balasubramanian A, VP &amp; Business Head, TeamLease Services, the surge in consumer-centric sectors including EV and Infrastructure, Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals, Fast-Moving Consumer Durables are due to &nbsp;collective demand for innovation, sustainability and advancements in technology.</p>
<p>Bengaluru has the highest rate of incremental workforce expansion at 89% followed by Chennai at 83% and Mumbai at 82%. In terms of new hires too Bengaluru leads with 87% followed by Mumbai at 86% and Chennai at 83%. For replacement hiring, Mumbai leads with 82%, Bengaluru with 78% and Chennai at 76%.</p>
<h3><strong>Department in demand</strong></h3>
<p>Human Resources leads workforce expansion with 71%, followed by Marketing with 70% and Information Technology as 70%. In terms of new Hires HR leads again with 92%. followed by Marketing at 87%.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For replacement hiring, Information Technology function leads the way with 94%, with Human Resources at 89%.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A new study conducted by the Texas A&amp;M School of Public Health revealed which days of the week are most and least productive.&nbsp;</p>
<p>For the study, the researchers analysed the computer activity of employees working for an energy company over a span of two years. They also compared computer usage on different days and times of the week.</p>
<p>Unsurprisingly, Friday afternoons emerged as the least productive time of the week, while Mondays were the most productive, especially among people who are introverts.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The study also noted that employees who prioritise efficiency and accuracy complete their tasks during the early part of the day instead of the afternoon.</p>

That seems to be the verdict of majority of companies which participated in the world's largest trial of a '4-day work week'.&nbsp;<br><br>Most of the 61 companies that participated from June to December say that productivity did not take a hit and that they would continue with a 4-day work week. Companies also said that employees were less stressed and had better work-life balance.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>What was the study?&nbsp;</strong><br>In June 2022, a think tank based in the UK started a pilot program to test out four-day work weeks in the corporate sector. The study, was conducted by a UK advocacy group called 4-Day Week Global.</p>
<p><strong>What did this study involve?&nbsp;</strong><br>The study involved 2,900 workers from 61 companies across industries in the UK. The program was carried out between June to December 2022.<br><br>Employees at the participating companies across Britain worked an average of 34 hours across four days between June and December 2022 while earning their current salary.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>What did the study show? <br></strong>Of the participating 61, 56 companies, or 92 percent, opted to continue with the 4-day work week.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The report published also said that employee stress and burnout significantly declined, with 71 percent of employees reporting lower levels of burnout, 39% reported they were less stressed and 48% were more satisfied with their job as compared to before the trial. Reported anxiety, fatigue and sleep issues decreased, while mental and physical health both experienced improvements.</p>

<p><strong>Basic Exemption Limit: </strong>Expectations are that the basic exemption limit be raised to Rs 5 lakh from the prevailing Rs 2.5 lakh.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Increase the limit under section 80 C: </strong>A long standing demand has been to increase the 80 C limit from the current 1.5 lakhs (since 2014-15) to 2.5 lakhs. There are a whole slew of long-term savings options such as PPF, ELSS, NSC, NPS, Bank FDs etc. And an increase in this limit would encourage taxpayers to increase investments while saving taxes.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>Increase the limit under section 80 D: </strong>Experts say the limit under section 80D for claiming health insurance should be increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 and for the elderly from Rs 50,000 to 75,000.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The newspaper cited documents and unnamed sources familiar with the deliberations.</p>
<p>Twitter, however quickly issued a clarification assuring the staff that there are no plans for company wide layoffs.&nbsp;</p>
<p>After his initial USD 44 billion bid in April to buy Twitter, Musk backed out of the deal, contending Twitter misrepresented the number of fake 'spam bot' accounts on its platform.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the backdrop of declining sales of its electric scooter, online ride-hailing platform Ola said that it will cut about 200 jobs.&nbsp;</p>
