At least 296 people were killed after a powerful earthquake hit Morocco on Friday night, an official said.
No official casualty figures have been released.
The quake struck 44 miles (71 kilometres) southwest of Marrakesh at a depth of 18.5 kilometres at 11:11 pm (2211 GMT), the US Geological Survey said.
Moroccan media reported it was the most powerful earthquake to hit the country to date.
The earthquake was also felt in neighbouring Algeria, where the Algerian Civil Defence said it had not caused any damage or casualties.
In 2004, at least 628 people were killed and 926 injured when a quake hit Al Hoceima in northeastern Morocco.

The baby, now three-and-a-half months old, was pulled from rubble 128 hours after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake hit southern Turkey and parts of northern Syria on February 6, according to Turkey&rsquo;s Ministry of Family and Social Services.
Authorities were initially not able to locate the baby&rsquo;s family.
She was placed under state care and taken to a temporary shelter in the nation&rsquo;s capital, Ankara.
Caregivers gave her the name, Gizem, and referred to her as the &ldquo;miracle baby".
Gizem and her family, who are Syrian, were living in the Turkish province of Hatay, according to the ministry.
Her mother, Yasemin Begdas, survived the quake, but Gizem&rsquo;s father and two brothers died.
Following DNA testing, Turkey&rsquo;s Ministry of Family and Social Services were able to determine baby Gizem&rsquo;s mother was Yasemin, who was receiving treatment at a public hospital in Adana in southern Turkey.
Baby Gizem&rsquo;s official name is Vetin Begdas, according to the ministry.
She was reunited with her mother in an Adana hospital room last Friday.
The February 6 earthquake killed over 50,000 people in Turkey, which hosts some 3.5 million Syrian refugees.

Nonprofits, researchers and others need the tool, known as the API, or Application Developer Interface, to analyze Twitter data because the sheer amount of information makes it impossible for a human to go through by hand.
Kapanoglu says hundreds of &ldquo;good Samaritans&rdquo; have been giving out their own, premium paid API access keys (Twitter already offered a paid version with more features) for use in the rescue efforts.
But he says this isn't &ldquo;sustainable or the right way&rdquo; to do this. It might even be against Twitter's rules.
Monday is the deadline Twitter set for shutting off free access to its API, an added challenge for the thousands of developers in Turkey and beyond who are working around the clock to harness Twitter's unique, open ecosystem for disaster relief.

Engineers suggested that the scale of the devastation is partly explained by lax enforcement of building codes, which some have warned for years would make them vulnerable to earthquakes.

More than 21,000 people have died so far in the 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on Monday, and the toll is expected to rise as rescuers comb the rubble for survivors.
"Economic losses are hard to estimate as the situation is evolving, but they appear likely to exceed" $2 billion and could reach $4 billion "or more", Fitch Ratings said.
Insured losses will be much lower, possibly around $1 billion, due to low insurance coverage in the area, it added.
