Dussehra Celebration: Amdavadis have taken the Dussehra celebration to the next level by showing their unwavering love for Fafda Gathiya and Jalebi. Even the 10% price increase failed to discourage them from indulging in their favourite festive treats.&nbsp;
<h3>Fafda &amp; Jalebi sale&nbsp;</h3>
As per a report by TOI, long queues and bustling crowds were seen at farsan stores, mandaps and stalls well before midnight. People from all parts of Ahmedabad flocked to shops selling snacks and sweets resulting in the sale of Fafda and Jalebi worth Rs 175 crore. As per the report about 8.4 lakh Kg each of Fafda and Jalebi were sold.&nbsp;

Prices went up as much as 10% due to price rise in besan and edible oil. Fafda was priced between Rs 750 to Rs 1,300 per kg, while jalebi prices rose from Rs 900 to Rs 1,000 per kg compared to the previous year. Despite this, the sale went up by about 10% compared to last year.
<h3>Food delivery apps</h3>
The huge demand lead to long queues in front of the shops. As per the TOI report that quotes shop owners, starting as early as 6 am, queues of 80-90 people were formed, with customers patiently waiting for their turn.&nbsp;
This had discouraged some customers from visiting the stores, leading to a shift towards ordering through app-based food delivery platforms.

Besides Kangana, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena were also present at the event.

Actor Kangana Ranaut performed Ravan Dahan at Delhi's famed Lav Kush Ramleela on the occasion of Dusshera. Kangana made her way to the stage along with her sister Rangoli Chandel
She was heard chanting Jai Shree Ram at the event.
For the occasion, Kangana donned a traditional red saree and tied her hair up into a neat bun.
Kangana Ranaut made history as she became the first woman to perform Raavan Dahan at Lav Kush Ramleela in New Delhi. by her side.
In a video now going viral, Kangana was seen with a bow in her hand while people around her taught her how to shoot the arrow. She made three attempts to shoot the arrow but failed. However, her spirits weren&rsquo;t dampened. She chanted &lsquo;Jai Shri Ram&rsquo; while one of the members of the Lav Kush Ramleela Committee helped her shoot the arrow.
Reacting to the video, a section of social media users trolled her for her failed attempt.
&lsquo;This gives me second hand embarassment,&rsquo; a social media user wrote. &lsquo;So much for being the stunt/action queen of bollywood ,&rsquo;
&lsquo;I can&rsquo;t imagine the kind of anxiety, embarrassment Kanagana must be feeling at that time,&rsquo; a comment read.
&lsquo;I can&rsquo;t stop laughing the person who is speaking in the background, putla jalaya jaye. Asatya par satya ki jeet hui hai and this is so funny and embarassing, kangana should have taken YouTube classes,&rsquo; a comment read.
Besides Kangana, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena were also present at the event.
Kangana was invited to perform the Ravan Dahan as a nod to the Women&rsquo;s Reservation Bill which was passed in September.
Speaking about it, Arjun Singh, president of Lav Kush Ramleela Committee of Delhi, told PTI, &lsquo;Be it a film star or a politician, every year we have a VIP grace our event. In the past, we have had former President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi do the honours. Among film stars, Ajay Devgn and John Abraham have been here. Last year, Prabhas did the Ravan Dahan. For the first time in 50 years of our event, it will be a woman who will do the Ravan Dahan.&rsquo;

The Bombay High Court on Friday permitted the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena to hold its annual Dussehra rally at the iconic Shivaji Park ground in central Mumbai on October 5.
A division bench of Justices R D Dhanuka and Kamal Khata allowed the petition filed by the Thackeray-led Sena faction and its secretary Anil Desai challenging the Mumbai civic body's order refusing them permission.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) order was a "clear abuse of process of law and bonafide," said the court.
The bench allowed the Thackeray-led party to use the ground from October 2 to October 6 while asking it to maintain law and order.
The BMC had on September 21 said it was refusing permission as a similar application had been filed by MLA Sada Sarvankar of the rival Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and if permission was granted to one faction, it would lead to law and order problems as apprehended by local police.

In a snub to Shinde, Bombay HC's nod to Uddhav-led faction for Dussehra venue

The court's order comes as a setback for Shinde faction as the court rejected its plea which urged court to not decide on the petition until the dispute over claim to the party was settled.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has denied permission to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena as well as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's faction for holding Dussehra rally at the iconic Shivaji Park here on October 5, a top BMC official said on Thursday.
The permission has been denied on the basis of law and order concerns raised by Mumbai Police, according to civic officials.
Notably, the Shinde faction last week got the nod for holding a rally at the MMRDA ground at the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai.
BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal told PTI that the civic administration has denied permission to both the Shiv Sena factions for holding a rally at the Shivaji Park on the occasion of Dussehra on October 5.
According to the BMC, the Shivaji Park police in their feedback said the permission for rally to any of the two factions could lead to a "serious problem of law and order in the sensitive Shivaji Park area".
The civic body has sent letters to both the factions conveying about the denial of permission, officials said.
On August 22, Anil Desai of the Thackeray-led Sena had applied to the BMC for permission to hold the rally at the Shivaji park in central Mumbai.
Later, on August 30, MLA Sada Sarvankar of the Shinde faction had also applied for nod from the civic body's G-North ward for holding the Dussehra rally at the park.
Deputy municipal commissioner of BMC's zone-2 denied permission to both the Thackeray and Shinde factions based on the Shivaji Park police station's concerns about law and order.
"While both the opponent applicants have applied for permission to hold the Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Maharaj Park Maidan, if any one of the applicants is granted permission to hold the rally, this may create a serious problem of law and order in the sensitive area of ??Shivaji Park," as per the police remarks in the BMC's letter sent to both the factions.
Meanwhile, MLA Sada Sarvankar filed an application in the Bombay High Court on Thursday, seeking the court to not hear or decide the Thackeray-led Sena's petition for permission to hold their annual Dussehra rally at the Shivaji Park.
Sarvankar said if the HC passes any order on the issue, then it would cause impediment on the ongoing dispute on who represents the "real Shiv Sena".
The application is likely to be mentioned on Thursday before a division bench of Justices R D Dhanuka and Kamal Khata, which is scheduled to hear the petition filed by Thackeray-led Shiv Sena and its secretary Anil Desai on Wednesday.
In his application, Sarvankar, the MLA from Dadar in Mumbai, said he belongs to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's faction, who is the "Mukyaneta of Shiv Sena"

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has denied permission to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena as well as Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde's faction for holding Dussehra rally at the iconic Shivaji Park here on October 5, a top BMC official said on Thursday.
The permission has been denied on the basis of law and order concerns raised by Mumbai Police, according to civic officials.
