<h3>What is Cushing's Syndrome, Amy Schumer is suffering from?</h3>
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Cushing's syndrome, also known as hypercortisolism, is a rare hormonal disorder. It occurs when a person has elevated levels of cortisol, the body's primary stress hormone, inside the body for a long time, or it can be triggered by steroid medications. It mostly affects people between the age groups of 20-50 and is three times more prevalent in women than men.
Cushing's syndrome occurs when there is an excess of corticosteroids in the body. When the disorder originates from the pituitary gland, it is termed Cushing's syndrome.&nbsp;
According to reports, the actor linked her health condition to the administration of high-dose steroid injections. The specific reasons for her steroid use are not explicitly mentioned, but she has previously revealed about various health issues like endometriosis.
<h3>Symptoms of Cushing's Syndrome</h3>
The most common signs and symptoms are severe tiredness, muscle weakness, round face, upper body obesity, high blood pressure, fragile skin that is slow to heal, increased fat around the neck and high blood sugar.&nbsp;
According to a report by Mayo Clinic, if left untreated, Cushing's Syndrome can be fatal. It can also result om bone loss, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, serious or multiple infections and loss of muscle mass and strength.
Treatment for this condition include medication to suppress cortisol production, surgery and radiation therapy.

A rare and deadly amoeba, known as Naegleria fowleri, has once again raised concerns in the United States after claiming the life of a Georgia resident recently. The brain-eating amoeba has been the focus of attention due to its potential to cause severe and often fatal infections in humans.&nbsp;
In July this year, a two-year-old boy from Nevada passed away due to an infection caused due to this amoeba. Health officials believe that the little boy probably got the infection while visiting a natural hot spring.
Earlier, in February too, a person from Florida had died from the amoeba after using tap water for a sinus rinse.
<h3>What is Naegleria fowleri or brain-eating amoeba?</h3>
Naegleria fowleri is a free-living amoeba found in warm freshwater environments such as lakes, rivers, and hot springs. It thrives in temperatures ranging from 25&deg;C to 40&deg;C (77&deg;F to 104&deg;F), making it more prevalent during the summer months. The amoeba is naturally present in these waters and feeds on bacteria.
The infection occurs when water containing the amoeba enters the nasal passages and reaches the olfactory nerve, which is responsible for the sense of smell. From there, the amoeba can travel to the brain, leading to a rare but severe condition known as primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM).
The recent case of a man from Georgia who lost his life to this brain-eating amoeba is not the first occurrence in the United States. Naegleria fowleri infections are incredibly rare but have been reported in different states over the years.

A mystery person, reportedly based in the USA, donated ₹11 crores for the treatment of a 15-month-old toddler suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a rare neuromuscular disease.&nbsp;
Nirvaan, who was born with a curved spine, was diagnosed with SMA Type-2 in January 2023 following which his parents Sarang and Adithi Menon, based out of Mumbai, started crowdfunding accounts to gather funds for his treatment.
A one-time drug called Zolgensma, manufactured by pharmaceutical company Novartis is required to treat the rare disease, which, if left untreated can cause eventual loss of movement in limbs while also shortening the patient's lifespan. Zolgensma, according to medical experts, can only be administered before the age of 2 to stop the disease from developing further.&nbsp; Zolgensma costs ₹17.5 crore and is delivered to India nearly 20 days after an order is placed. Sarang, a merchant navy officer and Adithi, a software engineer started two crowdfunding accounts soon after receiving their son's diagnosis on January 7, 2023.&nbsp; Till February 19, 2023, the couple had received approximately ₹5.5 crores through almost 50,000 donors. One day later, Sarang Menon announced on Facebook that an anonymous person had donated $1.4 million or ₹11 crores to one of their crowdfunding account.&nbsp; 'We want to share a piece of good news with you all - we have received a significant donation of $1.4 million from an anonymous donor. Their generosity has brought us closer to our goal of raising the funds needed for Nirvaan&rsquo;s treatment. According to news organisation Onmanaroma, the anonymous donor spoke to crowdfunding organisation and said, 'When I came to know of the child's plight through the media, I felt like I should chip in. I&rsquo;m donating the money not for fame. Even the child's parents should not know my name. The life of the child is important, not my name.'&nbsp; The little boy's father told The Indian Express, 'Ever since we opened the crowdfunding accounts, I used to check them daily. By February 19, we had received around Rs 5.5 crore. On February 20, I saw a sudden and huge rise in the amount. I checked with Milaap operators if it was a technical glitch but they told me that someone had, in fact, donated that amount. We were ecstatic.'&nbsp; Menon immediately, reports IE, reached out to Milaap to thank the donor personally where he learnt that the person had requested complete and total anonymity.&nbsp; The Menons updated the Facebook page saying that they have initiated talks of procuring the medicine for Nirvaan at the earliest and asked their followers to keep the little boy in their prayers.&nbsp;

It is an inflammation caused in larynx which is located behind our throat. This causes swelling and hoarseness, resulting in a squeaky voice.
<h3>Symptoms and treatment:</h3>
According to Mayo Clinic, laryngitis can either be acute or chronic. Acute laryngitis is similar to a sore throat with irritation in the throat. However, if not taken care of, it might take a serious turn.
Common symptoms of laryngitis include hoarseness, weak voice, tickling sensation in throat, soreness and dry cough.
Laryngitis usually gets treated with self-care and by giving rest to your voice. Doctors mostly recommend drinking plenty of warm fluids. If laryngitis is accompanied by high fever and breathing trouble it is advised to see a doctor immediately.

Speaking to the media, he said that recently he shut down and didn&rsquo;t know what had happened to him. He added that he later found out that he had Vestibular Hypofunction, where, basically a person&rsquo;s balance goes off.
<h3>What is Vestibular Hypofunction?</h3>
Also known as Vertigo, Vestibular Hypofunction happens due to the improper functioning of the balance system of the inner ear part of the human body. The vestibular system is present in the inner ear and helps in maintaining the balance of the eyes and the muscles. When it does not work properly, it sends error messages to the brain and that&rsquo;s when a person experiences dizziness and loses body balance.
<h3>Common Symptoms:</h3>
According to John Hopkins Medicines, the common symptoms of a vestibular hypofunction are:
