In a fresh incident of Chinese aggression, Chinese troops reportedly stopped Indian cattle-herders from grazing their cattle in Demchok area of Ladakh. The incident occurred on 21 August 2022, according to sources quoted by news agency PTI.
The herders were on the Indian side of the disputed border called the Line of Actual Control (LAC). However, Chinese soldiers accused the graziers of being on the Chinese side, and stopped them from moving ahead.
The incident was subsequently discussed by area commanders of the Indian and Chinese armies. Government sources cited "differing perceptions about LAC" for such incidents.
India and China are currently engaged in a stand-off which began with the PLA's aggressive manoeuvres in Ladakh in 2020. 16 rounds of military talks have been held to defuse the situation so far.

Chinese soldier caught in Demchok had pen drive, sleeping bag

The Chinese Army soldier caught near the LoAC in Ladakh was carrying an empty pen drive, a phone and a sleeping bag with him, says a report by&nbsp;ANI

The Chinese Army soldier caught on the Indian side of the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh was carrying an empty pen drive, a mobile phone and a sleeping bag with him, according to an ANI report. The Chinese soldier also had his military identification document when he was taken into custody by the Indian troops near the Demchok area of Ladakh on October 19. The Chinese soldier was thoroughly checked and questioned by Indian military authorities as per the established protocols before being handed over to the Chinese at a border personnel meeting at Chushul. Indian Army had earlier said that the PLA trooper was 'provided medical assistance including oxygen, food and warm clothes to protect him from the vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions'.

Indian Army handed over the Chinese soldier Corporal Wang Ya Long to the Chinese Army at the Chushul Moldo meeting point on Tuesday night. The Chinese soldier was apprehended by the Indian Army in the Demchok sector of eastern Ladakh on Monday after he had &ldquo;strayed across the Line of Actual Control&rdquo;. The Army had said the PLA soldier will be returned to the Chinese Army after the completion of all formalities at the Chushul-Moldo meeting point in Ladakh. The soldier "got lost while helping local herdsmen retrieve a yak", a Chinese officer said in a statement on Monday night.
